How about not riding aggressively or pushing the limits? It's a Tikre not a crotch rocket. Take it easy and enjoy the ride.

You just shouldn't ride outside of yours or your Trikes abilities, but Trikes can be ridden aggressively! 12:45 I've traveled over 25,000 miles on my Freewheeler but rear tire pressure didn't sink into my brain until I watched your video. I've been filling to the 26psi that the manual states and complaining the whole time. I've since lowered the pressure and WOW what a difference. Now I'm definitely looking forward to another 25,000 miles. 😄 Thanks!

I moved to a Tri Glide in 2015. Started out on a 2014 with linked brakes. Now I'm on a 2023. It's a totally different animal when it comes to using the rear brake to plant the rear.

Congrats on your 2023 Tri Glide. Wishing you Many Miles of Smiles on it! They are still linked brakes, operating under the same principle, but the brakes do have better stopping power than back in 2014, and better feedback. Thanks for commenting! KP

Trikes definitely have a little more restrictions than a two wheel bike, but you can ride a Trike aggressively as long as you know your limits and your trikes limits. You know you're getting older when the trikes start looking sexy. 😂 J/K. I grew up riding 3 wheelers around the woods behind our house. In retrospect, that taught me a lot in how to navigate obstacles, minus the cagers.

I finally got my Tri Glide. I rewatched your videos a couple of times before I went to the dealership. Drove home (highway and curves in slower areas) I was a little sketchy but after a half hour got the hang of it. (using your brake method) I'm very confident but I won't exceed my limits. I go fast when necessary and take it easy on those winding road. Again guys, thank you for your videos.

The note about rear tire PSI was an eye-opener, as were the remarks about lug nuts. Having run steel hubs and spokes on the majority of my bikes (the exceptions being a BMW and an FXR) I did not realize that aluminum hubs created an issue like that. I recently installed DK's shocks and lift kit on my Freewheeler, and it's time to check that torque. BTW, I'm going to give a rousing 'Plus 100' on the customer service team. There were issues with my shock installation, but the folks at DK bent over backwards to make sure I got everything dialed in, and got the best possible service from the parts I installed. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat! And thank you, @DKCustomProducts, for doing these videos. I appreciate the info!

It helps being a dirt bike rider, power on or brakes litley lowers rear suspension same with front shocks brakes on or throttle on changes handling, Go past the limit, feel that front wheel slide, feel that rear tire on high side spin like it's on ice it won't slide sideways. Both my trikes I've found that slide or spin it's about 25 mph over speed limit in curve. I don't worry about walnuts, or anything on a blind curve. My independent suspension trike takes care of my mistakes. My motorcycle buddies has ask me too slow down, I don't ride with them now.

Another added danger on a Trike is the rear width. It takes some getting used to. As you pull up to a gas pump it is easy to forget about the wider back end especially if you have been on 2 wheels for 50+ years. Easy to hit the Yellow Safety Bollards Parking Post Barriers at fuel stations. Same with taking Right hand turns on the roads and into driveways. You are accustomed to cutting closer on two wheels but must remember you now have a wider rear behind you and can easily strike the curb. Same goes for drive up windows at fast food and banks etc. That wide rear end has got to be a focus or it's easy to forget. I'm 67 now and am having to get off my Limited Low 2 wheel and go to the Tri Glide due to 5 right knee surgeries and the need to replace both knees. Finding it is not nearly as fun to ride, and DEFINITELY mork WORK to ride taking curves and not being able to just lean and go but it is more relaxing, because I can't drop it. Easy to keep the rubber on the road and the shiny side up!

I own the 2023 Tri-Glide and use your information when riding with the kids in the twisties. Recently though I felt the Trike tilting , rider behind me said the left tire lifted slightly . I panicked and let off the throttle and pressed the rear brake instantly lifted the rear tire up further. (Lesson learned) . My front brake doesn't engage when the rear brake is in use. I rarely use the front brake. Thanks again for the Tri-Glide riding safety educational information.
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 5 месяцев назад
All 2023 Tri-Glides have linked brakes. This means when you apply your rear brake, it does apply some front brake. If yours is not doing that, it should be taken to the shop to get that fixed under warranty. Yeah, letting off on the throttle will shift the weight forward some and lift that tire even more, as you experienced. Best to keep minimal throttle on and use more or less rear brake to control your speed, and that will help keep the tire down. The rear tire lifting can be scary! One of the best things you can do to help train yourself what to do in these situations is to find an empty parking lot and practice correcting. Leaning your body hard to the side that is lifting and or steering the opposite direction of the curve, but when you are in a situation like this your mind shuts down so the only way to make it safer is to practice so that it is just instinct on how to correct. Here is a video on How to Conquer Curves Aggressively that you may find useful/interesting- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ZkmHGrSetc.html Also here is a video where Kevin practices in an empty parking lot that you may find interesting/useful - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Z4HN6Lv3ko.html Thanks for commenting! 👍😎👍 MB

When I had a trike out riding the 3 Sisters when I came to a curve I would downshift 1 gear to slow down.
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 5 месяцев назад
Using downshifting and front and rear brakes when approaching a curve is excellent practice to scrub off speed before the curve. Once in the curve, using trail-braking, as outline in the video linked here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ZkmHGrSetc.html will give you the most control riding thru the curves. The NexGen 13” shocks and lift kit made a superior improvement in the handling of my new trike. I wrecked my old trike last year due to being a dumbass. @DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 5 месяцев назад
Glad you are well pleased with all the parts! Thank you for your support and business! MB This is what Kevin has said about conversion kits: There are some really nice looking conversion kits out there. One of my favorites is Clints', done by Cut-n-Shoot Customs in Texas. You can see an interview we did with him at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/acl/interview-with-clint.htm Here are some pro's and con's that come to mind: PROS- If you already have a bike you like, that has a low cost basis, then you could save money over buying a factory Trike Can get a better look, and possibly more storage Better chance at having a "one of a kind" ride With an IRS conversion, it is possible (with the right shocks) to get a plusher ride in daily riding Increased rake for easier steering CONS- In most cases the cost will be similar to a factory Trike, once everything is added up Most places will not work on them In aggressive (spirited) riding in the curves they do not handle as well as the HD Factory Trikes Voids factory & ESP warranty Most of the time it makes the heat challenges HD engines face, worse I am sure there are some pros and cons I have not listed...the above is what came directly to mind when reading your question. One other thing....the above is for Touring comparisons. If one had a Sportster (which does not have the heat challenges of the Twin Cam and M8), and one wanted to do a budget build....that can work out very nicely. KP

The later models have linked brakes, when using the rear brake pedal you get full rear and it only applies a fraction of the available front brake (2 of the 6 calipers). When using the front (hand) brake it applies full front and some rear. To get full braking power, it is good to use both the front hand brake and the rear foot brake to scrub speed quickly. Most do not find the air shocks, your model came equipped with, to be too harsh or notably uncomfortable but they generally need to be adjusted often. What should be a convenient adjustment process becomes the opposite when they need to be adjusted frequently, as they air down. Aside from the drastic improvement in ride quality our shocks provide, many prefer the coil-over spring design which you can set and forget. So, to answer your questions directly... If you find yourself frequently adjusting the air shocks, that would be a sign to upgrade but most importantly if you find the ride quality to be less than adequate, certainly upgrade the shocks ASAP. Here is a video on our NEXGEN™ Shocks that you may find interesting- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vbU6fdtxjSI.html Feel free to contact us for more information on the suspension upgrades we offer; Support@DKCustomProducts.com 662-252-8828 Thanks for commenting! 😎 MB

I've just got my first Harley and she's a trike. Love it!!! Thanks for the tips! My HD dealer won't install anything but what I buy from them is that normal?

It is NOT normal. I suppose it is their right, but that is very rare. I have heard of it, but never experienced it. We have thousands of Customers that have had Dealerships install parts that they bought from us, both during the factory warranty period and after. You may want to look around for a dealership that will work with you! Thank you for commenting! MB

There are lots of other dealers and great independent shops. They all make profit by what they sell . The local dealer here does install other stuff but will not warranty it . All HD genuine products come with a warranty .
