Riding with power is transformative. I know what power output I can sustain for any length of effort. Training with power turns your training into actionable data.
This talk about watts, distance, and other data belie your devotion to enduro, where only time matters. I had a computer for about 3 months (until battery died). The novelty wore off after about 3 rides, not that I don't like data, but the choice between a $2.50 battery and tossing it in the bin was easy.
I don't race and dont get to ride as much as I want. I wouldn't have any data for rides, I would probably be ahamed of results. Still interesting and love the vids super good job.
One of the LBS's is doing a Jamis demo here in Houston as well at my local trails, Oct 20th. Wont be as much fun as Angel Fire, but a chance to check out their bikes. So, will you guys get new frames now, and will you still continue to ride the Portal and the Hardline or have you settled on just one of them?
Jamis hasn't received their big shipment yet so we don't have the new frames yet, but we should both be getting one of each. Glad to hear you'll be able to check them out in Houston!
Jamis recently got the first shipment of their new bikes that we've been riding prototypes of all season, the Portal (29) and Hardline (27.5), and they turned them into demo bikes! The Jamis demo truck is going to be at Angel Fire Bike Park on Saturday, Oct 13th and we're going to do a group ride that day at 10AM. So if you can make it out, come try the new bikes, hang out with us and we'll all go rip some laps at Angel Fire!!!! We recommend showing up 45-60 mins early to reserve your demo bike and get it all set up so we can hop on the lift at 10AM! If you can't make it to Angel Fire, check out the demo schedule to see if they'll be near you -- www.jamisbikes.com/usa/event-calendar.html
Hi Thanks for the videos I recently purchased the stages dash L50 Cracking gps but Iam having problem transferring the custom ride screens across to the gps from the link screen Everything els transferring across fine Please could you help Yours greatfully
Don't know if I missed this or not, Do you feel like the GPS accuracy is better than a phone or watch GPS? I have a garmin watch that gives me different distance/elevation than my phone. Feel like the phone is more accurate than the watch but wondering if this computer would be better? All that said, I live in a further north location which also significantly impacts GPS accuracy.
Neither of us have ever used a watch, so can't compare to that. Seems better than some of our past phones, but newer phones might have better GPS now. It's hard to say. It's pretty good but definitely not infallible.
I've not seen a phone with good GPS compared to a dedicated unit (watch or cycle computer). Any examples of a good one? It's obvious to me when anyone is using a phone, the route looks drunk - even with expensive phones.
