I often avoid using compressors in my presets as I feel like the dynamics are something I want to preserve, however this morning trying to dial in something Clean that sustains something like Allen Hinds, I stumbled on this.....

Absolutely stunning playing. Gorgeous use of breathing space at the beginning between phrases, and that haunting tonal center your melody keeps coming back to. A longing, not quite melancholy feeling of reminiscence. So much of the tone from your fingers and picking comes through. Another start to my day that is positive in no small part because of your improvised music.

Great stuff again John. As a bassist trying to decrease board components (Atlas, Empress, Diamond comps to choose between), I’d love to find some more bass content. Everyone seems to be going for ‘grit’ and ‘dirt’, but getting a pure sound like that from. B-15 or Noble pre with a touch of compression as a base starting point seems to evade everyone. I know it’s in the Stomp, I’ve just got to find it!

I thought Emphasis on LA Studio Comp reduces the compression of bass notes. That's useful because the bass tends to get overcompressed relative to higher notes with most compressors. I think the Emphasis parameter controls the freq. at which the 'bass' and 'treble' regions meet. Nice use of two dissimilar compressors!

I think this is exactly what I’ve been looking for out of the compression. I want sustain, but I don’t want to sound squashed! The Slide rig always seemed like the thing I was looking for but couldn’t afford until now.

I was thinking CHOKED but Squashed is it too. Dynamics inflection are gone. YUCKY to me.

I always found the (bus)compressor models a bit lacking for end of chain compression. Like somebody put a lead blanket on top of the signal. And then i end up tuning in less and less compression until I bypass it.

Please give it a go for Pod…go. I’ve been using a touch of compression in front of a deluxe reverb for a while. I like the sound of this too.

Remember me Robben Ford , one of my “top 10” ! I am starting in “multi effects” , hard to me get a warm tone …. I fell ,in my case ( gt 1000 core) that it’s hard to take It light , So I camping to use a bit comp : rate 6:1 / 10/1, less gain in od/Amp, eq, mic ,etc…. Compressors leave me scratching my head. I want sustain, without the compression. Maybe that's my problem. 🤷 I find Compression essential on my Bass Guitar for controlling the differences in volume when playing fingerstyle, which can exceed what I intended.

It would be helpful to see a Bode graph to show what the compressor is doing to your tone. Picking off high end can remove noise, but the signal path needs to be kept clean as possible, at every stage, or compression will cause more trouble than its removing. I'm sorry, but your total sound is squashed here -- you sounded much more "alive" in the Fractal video.
