In general you can't have enough power. I mean power is very useful in many situation and not exclusive to just going as fast as possible. Going as fast as possible is very overrated, imo. But being able to climb any incline that might occur in real life or in the street or easily handle traffic situations using the e-bikes or e-scooters powers is by far more satisfying and good than going full throttle. I wonder how come e-bikes have such low power compared to e-scooters? For the same money but also for less money. Like 2000W dual motor e-scooters is pretty easy to find and for a reasonable price (around 2k) but same powered e-bike have I only found on really expensive e-bikes. And few have dual motors. I think dual motors is a must especially for slippery surfaces. Idk if it's the same for e-bikes but in snowy conditions I can't ride my e-scooter without dual motor mode, almost impossible.
Good points! I think things are changing in the direction you are hoping. More technology but at a better price point. I know battery tech is really starting to advance as well so I have a feeling her are going to see a lot of really neat options in the next 5 years.
absolutely-right, all of it. sub'd/liked! keep it up...there's a zillion lifelong cyclists world-wide that need this kind of REAL info before we buy. thanks! LWT...knows this, I prefer actually PEDALING, because its GREAT EXERCISE. Especially for us, ahemmm...older cylists
Thank you so much and I prefer to pedal as well. I really appreciate the kind words and have plenty of video ideas lined up! Can’t wait to make more videos! 😀
Match the acceleration and speed of a car? No thanks. Good range plus smooth integration of the motor to the rest of the bicycle is much more important for this rider. If I'm that concerned about keeping up with traffic or getting out of harms way on two wheels, I would just buy a proper motorcycle.
I deliberately bought 250 Watts ebike, I don't really wanna brake the law, but it has a throttle, for which you already need a licence, registration, road tax, motorcycle helmet and you are NOT allowed to use it in cycle lanes...If I knew for sure, I don't mess up the electric system of the bike, I would remove it completely, I'm ok with pedaling, with cadence sensor you can fake it anyway 😂... I've also unlocked the speed and can go around 30 to 33 km per hour max, which is illegal too... I have a feeling, the dumb @ss, who made the laws, has never ridden an ebike.
@@LWTeBikeReviews yes, my bike is Engwe p26, it's cheap ebike, 45NM of torque, real range is around 70km (most of the time I use pedal assist 5), I use it mostly for commuting, or exploring the surrounding area, it's perfect, I absolutely love it.... just changed the tyres (Chao Yang tyres are a joke compared to Schwalbe Pick Up;)
There needs to be a change in the laws. Any eBike that goes faster than 35 Mph should be classified an an eMotorcycle and be treated like a regular motorcycle. (Which means yearly registration, insurance and having a motorcycle license. Also, you need to stay out of the bike lanes.)
Simple definition. If it goes zero to 20 in 5 seconds or less, then you have more than the typical "off the line" power. I have two bikes which meet this criteria. One is a 48V dual 1Kw geared hub motor, with a stated 160+ Newton Meter torque figure. The other is a 60V direct-drive hub motor eBike, which advertises it has 2.6 Kw of peak power (it only claims 110 Newton Meter of torque). Measured peak power is actually 3 Kw. Both are quick off the line. The higher wattage model runs well over 40 MPH on level ground. It allows me to run with traffic in 40 to 45 MPH zones. The dual hub motor bike caps out at 32 MPH. It has Dual Hub eBike has cousins which will do 35 on flat level ground. I will absolutely agree it is safer to run WITH traffic, than having traffic weaving to get past the "slow obstacle in the road.
I had years of mistakes and failures which all of course leads to success and knowledge. Great watch good info. My home built ebike is for ebikepacking so speed is unimportant but carring capacity and range is. Keep up the great vids mate.🦘☮️
