I wasn’t around until 1991 but seeing George’s interviews nowadays, he says he now sees his former self as just a character and I teared up because I wasn’t around to meet that person. Though he’s still great now I just love this video.
I feel that way too, George was absolutely adorable back in the 80's. I fell in love with Culture Club in 1983 the very first time I heard George sing DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME. I remember his voice was SO amazing, almost hypnotic. I didn't get to see Culture Club live back in the 80's and I'm now very SAD that I didn't. In recent years, George's voice has changed, not a little, but a lot! I was anxious to see and hear videos from the band's (minus drummer, Jon Moss) performance in Vegas last month. While George still has a good voice, it's quite different from the one I fell in love with in the 80's, I guess I'll never get to see LIVE performances of the songs I adored so much (as they were originally done).
