I like that you point out people have different skin types and there’s no one size fit all skincare advice. I was very oily when I was younger and I’m now more combo as I approach 40. I’ve tried the No morning cleanse and I’m irritated when I put on skincare products without that morning cleanse.
It work for me , i have a combination skin . I dont wash my face in the morning juste warm water. And i go on with my skincare. I dont Wear much make UP in the night juste wash my face with micellaire gel wash. My skin is glowing and not dry and dull and even less oily
@@LoveConquersAll888 oily and thick skin. I use Some $1 face wash that is similar to the Neutrogena orange one only when I shower. I don’t wear make up so I don’t really need anything strong.
For me washing my face only once a day is the key. I have normal skin. I use a salacylic acid face wash at night since i have issues with closed comedones. I then do my skin care routine and the next morning i simply wash my face throughly with plain water. If i wash my face twice a day it really breaks me out and makes my skin too dry.
Yes that's another think ,that if you wash too much then your skin needs then it will become more dry & dehydrate , so it will produce more sebum & will end up in breakout 's...thats some people don't understand...
I don’t cleanse my face I’m the morning. I only rinse with water and apply moisturizer and sunscreen! However, I cleanse my face in the evening to remove all the dirt and oil build ups I got onto my face throughout the day.
I do wash my face with Cerave gentle cleanser. I don't like my face unwashed and marinating in the products that use in my night routine...oh well, that's just me! 😅
Same here! And I feel like I always get pimples if I don't wash my face in the morning, mainly because of the cream residue from the previous night. It's always important to clean your face properly before sunscreen
Yuck..there is no way Im not going to wash my face when I wake up. Its the time I use a very creamy gentle cleanser and my dry skin has never had an issue.
I have never washed my face in the morning. I’ve been splashing my face with cold water in the mornings since I was 16. I’m 47 and have amazing skin. Sunscreen helps and knowing what products work too.
Yes, I must or else my skin breaks out. At night you put moisturizer and the such on your face, which on mornings leaves your face greasy. I tried not washing on or twice when at home on holiday and I always regret it.
Yes I agree, even for people with dry sensitive skin types, you still have skin care products from the night before on your face, as well as bacteria, hair oil, sweat, etc… being dry doesn’t shield you from that 😭 I think rinsing your face with water and then using a clean wet washcloth/rag and gently wiping your face is a much better alternative to making sure you at least have a clean canvas before going in with your moisturizer and sunscreen
@Trinity M I mean if you have eczema it’s understandable, but at least making sure all the grogginess and whatever residue could have accumulated throughout the night is off with at least water before going in with skincare products, is better than just slathering on products on a freshly woken face. So it’s good that you at least use water Edit: also I meant the oil from your hair, not on your face lol
Yeah I agree with the doctor I think it all depends on ur skin type. For example I have really sensitive skin which leans to the dryer side and I noticed my skin improving when I washed it only at night but I know for vast majority it will NOT work for their skin especially combination to oily skin .
@@mayadighibe7710 Yip and I some of y'all are gonna freak out lol but this is what works for MY skin . Also my skin when really irritated gets eczema flare ups on forehead.
I have pimples whenever I don't wash my face in the morning. My face skin is oily and I clean it 2 to 3 times a day, depending if I workout or if the weather is hot. My mom barely clean her face at night with water and almost never use moisturizer, she never had any skin problem her whole life. It's about genetics, and different people have different needs.
Maybe it works for her. But me, as a dark oily person, I need to double cleanse in the morning, to take all the actives I put on my skin the night before and make sure I don’t get a bad reaction if I go out to the sun.
You don’t need to remove any active from the night before, they’re probably or there. Most of your skin care is absorbed by your skin and other portion of it rubs off in your pillow.
@@eladrio I’m just trying to make sure that there aren’t any. Products that you use at night can’t be contacted with sun, so double cleaning is a good way. But I know what you mean.
Biggest mistake? Not sure about that. But I've never watched my face in the morning. I wash at night only. Just not something my mom did when I was growing up. It has never caused issues for us. I can see folks with oily skin needing it.
I don't wash my face with cleansers regularly anymore. Maybe once a week. Only use micellar. Glowy skin and skin lookes smoother. Also had dry patches earlier but don't have those anymore
This is so true. This might sound sad but my skin has always looked it's best when I've been in a depressive episode and had no motivation to wash my face or do any other skincare. I have a skincare routine now because I have PIH and want to prevent premature aging, but really being as minimal as possible is the best thing for your skin barrier
That's some how true, when I was in my home country at my teenage years i used to wash my face 3 times a day, because weather is so hot & humid that you can't escape it,,, but here in Australia its most of the time cold & dry so if I wash my face twice its become very dry & inflamed,,, & also I m now in my 30's so my skin become more dry & sensitive,,,but in summer time most of the day I have to wash twice, ..it is depends on some factors like skin type, age, weather , & also your lifestyle,,,that's will help you understand ,what is best for your SKIN.....
I don’t wash my face in the morning except with water and has helped my skin barrier. There’s other dermatologist that recommend this too. But again each person is different
This is true washing your face in the morning can irritate very sensitive skin like mine so I don't do it but I do wash my face twice after removing my makeup because I like to make sure my makeup is completely off but I do not use towels I use a shirt to Pat it because it is less abrasive
Listen, I really believe in learning as much as you can about your skin type, your sensitivities, and how it reacts to your current environment. Just because someone tells you to try something doesn’t mean it’ll work for your skin. Keep it as simple as possible, and don’t be swayed by celebrities, a magazine article, or even what works for your friends. When in doubt, cleanse, moisturize, and use sunscreen that works for you!
As a muslim i really know the benefits of washing Face daily we wash our faces 5 times a day and that really help to have clean skin and the part of hygiene ✨(ya skin care is important too if you have acne prone skin)
Eversince I watched her video almost 2 yrs ago, I just wash my face now once a day which is in the afternoon to remove make up. And on Friday, I dont wash my face till Monday to get my natural oil back. Its amazing! My face is much healthier than ever before
There's other dermatologists on RU-vid that suggest only washing your face once a day which is at night because of the oil, pollution, bacteria that sticks to your face but it's not necessary for the mornings
I've tried and had acne What I started doing is microdermabrasion twice a week and washing my face twice a day but not on the microdermabrasion days only once on those days If I don't want to wash my face with a cleanser (face wash soap and water) I use the green stick leave on 15-20 minutes and wipe off the a heart shaped sponge comes in a pack of like 150 sponges so I use the sponge twice and throw away
some people need to cleanse their skin in the morning especially if you have acne prone skin and you don’t always need to have oily skin to be acne prone like me personally I have dry skin and I’m acne prone as well. Please don’t feel like you need to not wash your face in the morning to have a clear skin do what works for you and your skin will get better.
I stopped washing my face in the morning years ago and nearly immediately saw a difference. I have normal to combination skin (not very oily but more so in my t zone). I splash with warm water and pat dry I just don't use a cleanser. I also shower in the evening so that is my prime cleansing time. Selma Hayek says not to wash in the morning as well and I consider her to be one of the most stunning women I've ever seen 🤷♀️
Dr Vanita, aren't you supposed to cleanse before you use your skincare though? If I only wash my face and use skincare at night wouldn't my face need to be washed in the morning so I can do my morning skincare like applying toner and actives?
I hate the not washing skin thing. There are some rare cases when people have over treated skin or a really deep peel/laser where there may be an exception. But if you have severely dry skin, u just aren’t using the right cleanser. If this lady tried the creamy rose milk cleanser i retail she would have ab improved barrier, significantly less erythema, and additional antioxidant support.
This like myself is for dry skin people cause the early cold air hitting face after a shower is very drying so this why it helps if you have trouble with moisture but if it's anything other than dry wash ur face please and if it's dry wash your face and put moisture creams/lotions on before it fully dries and gets tight, that tightness after washing face is actually a sign your skin water retention is very low and your face getting more dry
Even if you dont have dry skin you can try this. I have combination skin and struggled with pimples. But ive tried and tested every product and skin care regiment you can think of. And what i learned is the less i touch my face, the less i interfere with it the clearer and healthier my skin is. I wash my face before bed to remove makup but i dont use anything harsh just cotton with rose water.
Same. My skin is not sensitive and i only wash my face once a day and that’s when I take a bath at night. But other people have different skin. But she’s not wrong though. Many people ruin their skin by doing more than necessary. Not saying to follow and only ways your face once a day. But don’t over wash it.
It’s up to the person but I always wash twice a day with a very gentle cleanser. For many when we sleep some drool a little and if you don’t change your pillowcase every night then you’ve got that on your face
It honestly depends on your skin type I know dry skin people might benefit from doing this but if your skin type is oily, combo, or normal please wash your skin twice a day. And not only that if you have dry skin at least wash your face at night.
I agree. I rinse with lukewarm water in the morning. Ever since I did this acne calmed down. I eventually went on accutane but post medication maintained this routine and worked a treat.
FOR ME, it worked. I was over washing not knowing I was destroying my skin barrier. Didn't even know what a skin barrier was. Also sunscreen was a game changer for me too.
Dr V, pls help me!!! The regular products I have been using, all of a sudden a taste everything on my tongue 👅 all day, and it’s making me crazy!!! What shall I do? Thank you 🙏
I switched to micellar water to cleanse 2x a day & exfoliating 1x a week with an acid... my skin looks amazing. My skin is extremely sensitive & washing it with any soap made it irritated. The only other steps I use are putting on squalane oil & single ingredient essence.
If you like the idea of this but can't push yourself to skip the morning wash like me I recommend just using a gentle creamy cleanser like the Cetaphil one (Cerave has one too but I'm not a fan of it personally). They're super gentle on the skin and don't damage the skin barrier like many other face washes do but still clear off any excess oil.
I used to have very oily acne prone skin. then I stopped washing my face in the morning, and added face oils into my skincare routine. my skin is now very rarely oily, and I only ever break out before my period. so it's honestly worth a shot
@@zodwamabindla2023 I don't. I went product free. And that changed my skin. Not doing anything to the skin can be the biggest help you're doing for it.
Have to wash twice a day otherwise with my combo acne prone skin I get a glory of break outs 🙈…plus I don’t feel comfortable just leaving the skin with the night’s retinol or Alpha H product on my face in the morning. Might work for some but for me it’s a no.
I had oily prone skin im still on my treatment. Whenever i skip my morning routine such as washing and hydrate my face, it can be transforme to super oily and new pimple after. My advise you dont need overwash but.... dont missed your routine wash, dehydrate and sun screen the morning. I put my Hygiène on the top of my list so i will never new things which out of my rules.
I’ve noticed when I skip my usual ‘2x a day’ cleansing routine in the morning or even skip a day, my skin gets clearer in the following days. As long as I do a double cleanse before bed to get rid of sweat and oil, my skin can handle it.
Yes it works! Gentle soaps are better than liquid face wash. Because melting of soap into liquid face wash needs a procedure and processing so b cautious ⚠️. After all our grandmother's have used soaps and they are still glowing.
Not true for all. I think dr dray says she rinses her face with just water some mornings. . It matters what kind of skin, any breakouts, what products you use in the evening.
I break out if I wash my skin twice a-day. I splash my face with water In the morning. And then I wash my face with a cream base cleanser or oatmeal straight from the kitchen in the evening. Basically the more products I put on my face the more I'm asking for a break out.
I took care of my skin when i got some small acne ,washed face twice using cerave facewash nd i used simple moisturiser Suganda serum I followed this routine 6 months consistenlty but didnt cured my pimble Then i lost interest and suddently stoped everything include facewash..i dont no y ..i didnt even wash my face some days Slowly i noticed my acne is vanishing Yea its sounds crazy I think my skin is senstv to all chemical products..when i stopped all those...my skin starts healing
I'm a combination girly and my skin has gotten so much better since I stopped washing it in the morning. I also notice I don't make as much oil through out the day. Game changer for my skin.
Yeah I'd have to agree with you. I have combo-oily skin and the only time avoiding a morning cleanse was helpful for me was when I was dealing with early-tretinoin dryness.
I stopped washing in the morning months ago, just double cleanse at night and she’s not wrong. I just throw water on my face before applying serums and spf
my night time routine includes retinol which is not to be used during daytime so if i dont wash my face in the morning wont its residue left on my skin the whole day?
No. My daughter is going through puberty acne and she washes 3 times a day moisturizes and adds sunblock and Vaseline(because she likes it) and it's help her face smooth.
It can be ideal for some people but it's definitely not for everyone. I have very oily skin and if I don't wash my face in the morning, I get a lot of breakouts throughout the day. I really don't get that how it benefit oily skin girl people like me.
whatever your skin type, at least splash/rinse with lukewarm water, you do brush your teeth don't you?! how do you get rid of the griddy stuff in your eyes, the saliva on the corner of your mouth,...
EXACTLY. How would anyone wake up with a groggy freshly woken face with drool and eye boogers, and just slather on skincare products on already previous layers of skincare from last night? Washing your face isn’t just for cleansing purposes, it’s to wake you up and feel fresh so you can go about your day. At least rinsing with water or wiping your face with a wet washcloth or rag so that you don’t look or feel like you just got out of bed..
I have very dry skin but I break out of I don't wash twice a day. I use the Cera ve hydrating cleanser morning and evening and then use a detox cleanser once a week and it works perfectly for me
I have oily skin. I’ve noticed that if I use a cleaner in the morning I’ll get oilier throughout the day. I will say the weather it’s also at fault. In the summer I def need to cleanse in the morning with a cleanser.
Welp....I know skin fanatics are gonna come at me for this.....but....I wash my face every 2-3 days 😱😱😱. However, in terms of diet, I would say its balanced (I don't overthink it like other people, I just eat what I like), drink tons of water since I'm always dehydrated for some reason, and my sleep cycle sucks lol (ill fix it after this week). However I would say my skin is 90% clear, just 1-2 pimples every other month and dark spots on my jawline and below my chin due to me not shaving properly cuz im too lazy to put a shaving cream on lol. I have dry skin (I think?) So my skin has been moisturized between the wash days. I do put moisturizer with spf whenever I go out so that's one thing (which is between wash days). I do have issues with whiteheads in my nose, so I am considering buying aha and bha, since my aha/bha cleanser and aha toner might not suffice.
I only wash my face before bed. I have dry skin, in the morning I don’t wash it. I use differin gel before bed and in the morning I put on sunscreen and moisturizer!
I have tried this since 3 months im washing my face with clear water and my skin looks fresh and not at dry. I guess we don't need to wash face twice. I do use cleanser at night.
Have a skin diorder called morfia (was localised sclaroderma as a child), and it was allways so dry!! Now i only wash my face once a day and use a heavyer moisteriser and its MUCH better
So for us dry, eczema and sensitive ladies (I'm all 3 😢) , if we don't wash our faces in the morning do we just wake up and apply skincare on our faces? How does it work? 🤔
