Hi, I bake it multiple times as you can add more clay to it as long as you add liquid polymer clay. This way you don't ruin what you have sculpted.

Must be ages since I read the books and saw the harry potter movies, I cant even remember the character Dobby other than recognising the name, the image reminded me of Smee? from Lord of the Rings. Your Dobby does look Great, Thanks for sharing.

I would like to know why you choose to use the Genesis heat set paints? They seem pretty good to me but they cost a fortune, here in Australia its around $20 each for just 1 ounce of paint :S I am really not sure which paints to use, I am considering getting the Jo Sonja's Acrylic paints which seem pretty reasonable cost and good quality but also not sure whether to buy the hobby style paints, I'm really not sure. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Hi, Genesis paints are quite expensive but it's my favorite paint to achieve realistic looking skin and is my personal preference. You can definitely use Jo Sonja's acrylic paints which I like as well because it's matte and has a thin consistency. My tip before you use acrylic paints is to clean the surface of the baked clay with rubbing alcohol using a paper towel just to remove the oils on the clay so that your paints stick better. ^_^

Beautiful work! Do you feel that needle felting is a better quality than binding stuffing with thread then doing a cloth body? How long did it take practicing needle felting till you could do it without stabbing yourself?

Thanks so much! I decided to needle felt because I'm not that good with patterns. With needle felting, I feel I can shape the body better. I still poke myself with it even after months of needle felting Lol!

I watched every minute and I'm fascinated at the detail of the face. But I think it would have helped the creation if you'd used the normal white clay for the eyes and green for the iris and etc. I don't think the paint does this piece justice imo. But overall amazing job.

Thanks for watching! Yeah, eyes can be quite tricky to paint. I agree on making preformed eyes out of clay or better yet glass eyes if you really want it to look realistic. I ended up redoing the eyes before selling Dobby. ^_^

Thanks! Yes I pre-bake it several times about 20 to 30 minutes then add new clay. This helps prevent distorting areas that you've already sculpted
