My favorite bit of BTTF lore is the fact that for a few hours on November 12, 1955, the time machine was in 4 places in the area of Hill Valley at the same time! The version from Part 1 was in 1955 Doc's garage. The first version from Part 2 was wherever 2015 Biff hid it when he brought the almanac back to give it to his younger self. The second version from Part 2 was hidden behind the Lyon Estates sign after Doc and Marty arrived back in 1955 to undo what 2015 Biff had done. The version from Part 3 was in a derelict state, sitting in the abandoned mine shaft where Doc had hidden it in 1885.
Actually, I believed the same thing until someone told me that Delorean sitting in a cave in 1955 will only appear the second flying delorean is teleported to 1885. Which makes sense if you think about it. But yeah, I believe that November 12, 1955, is a special date because of multiple deloreans being there, plus two of them were strucked by lightning.
So in 1885 there were also two DeLoreans. The one that Marty arrived in and the one that Emmett hid in the mine. It turns out that they didn't have to hijack that locomotive. They had the intake manifold and probably also the gasoline on hand 🙂
Helps to recap the series from the viewpoints of different characters who don't experience time entirely in its normal sequence (Doc, Marty, Biff, even Jennifer and Einstein). There's even an explanation out there that for at least a few hours in 1955, there were two Docs, two Martys, two Biffs, and *four* Deloreans in or around Hill Valley (one in Doc's garage being repaired for the return trip in BTTF1, one that later Doc is flying around somewhere in BTTF2, one that old Biff has stashed somewhere while he gives his younger self the almanac, and one buried in the old mine).
The bigger question is when, how, and why did Marty McFly become friends with Doc Emmet Brown? Isn’t he a little to bit young to be hanging out with someone so old?
Oooh blast from the past. These movies are such a great classics 💗 I love them so much. Hard to come up with good stuff like that these days. Thanks 👍👍
Something people miss is also that in the beginning of Back to the Future Doc says he is allergic to all synthetics, and at the end of Back to the Future is wearing ALL synthetics
Doc originally picked up Clara at the train station, since he volunteered to meet her at the town meeting. No one volunteered in the original time line.
How long did it take you to realize almanac biff in the 80s Was the soul purpose of the first film Doc had already been to the future and back n saw the outcome of his and Marty’s life He groomed Marty and sacrificed himself because he knew Marty would come thru Marty gets there n goes on a wild goose chase for his parents And doc is left at his house look at his death in the future The note was pointless doc already knew
"changing the past doesn't change the future" - Hulk "so back to the future is a full of bullshit"- Antman but seriously, this back to the future theory is the grand daddy of all time-travel theories in movies and fiction.
Was thinking it wouldn't have much screen time to offer. Being the smithy would be easy too. They'd have a need for the skill even if they didn't have a true blacksmith to work it. Doc walking into the employment and living above your workplace was common. Toss up how you get him the right clothes. But marty was in pink and nobody did much more than laugh at him. Doc could have just said his clothes were German and left it at that. Who's gonna know to argue.
How did Doc make another locomotive time machine with 1885 technology? I know it was steam powered, but how did he get a second Flux Capacitor? Or is the Deloreon still hidden in the cave for Marty to find in 1955?
The original filmmakers said that as long as they are alive, they will not do a reboot or another sequel or anything like that and they have also expressed to their families, who would presumably get the rights once they are gone, that this is their wish, so I don’t see it happening.
Wait a minute. Doc didnt make Marty Jr go night night, Jr got roughed up by Griff and company in the Cafe and Marty was behind the counter telling him to stay down and shut up basically, letting him pass out before he stands in place of Jr to tell Griff and company No.
Not really. He made a mistake.. MARTY did not go back to 1955 to escape the terrorists on purpose. He accidently turned them on as he was driving away from them
Question is…how was Doc brown able to invent a time machine with the train, if he wasnt able to fix the original time machine. And that also Marty traveled back to the present with.
Uh huh so what happened between doc sending the second Marty to 1885 and the start of the first movie? How did he get to know Marty? I knew you’d skip this part
I always thought that if Biff's betting on winning teams changed the results of later sporting events, the almanac would also change to reflect the new winners, the same way the 1955 photograph of Doc's tombstone kept changing in part 3 as Doc and Marty's actions in 1885 affected the timeline.
One thing I never understood is when the fuel line broke and all the gas ran out why did they not just fix the line and siphon the gas from the delorean that Doc Brown hid ? They had to replace the fuel in 1955 any way for Marty to drive it
It's not a good idea to leave gas in a car that's going to be sitting for a long time not getting used, I'm sure doc would have known that and probably already siphoned it out before he put the car in the cave, what he did with the gas after that is anyone's guess
Great video but what thing that is wrong. Doc Brown shoes a horse for Buford “Mad Dog”Tanner before he met Clara not after he met her. 😉 9:00 Ironicly your timeline was wrong. Lol
It is one point two one. With decimal places you say the numbers individually. Also I thought It was blink one eight two. How else would one say it. I am British.
He did but because he used it on Jennifer first, it didn't have enough juice left to knock marty jr out for the full time he intended... he explains this.
I have 1 question that ruins the logic, how did old biff go back to "standard" 2015 after he gave the book in 1955 causing the alternate to occur? that really stays in my mind
It’s because the timeline always takes a little bit to catch up whenever alterations are made: for example, when Loraine started liking Marty in 1955, it took a week for him to start disappearing. Also, it progressively changes throughout the years, because in the picture first Dave disappeared, then Marty’s sister, then him. This was because Marty is the youngest child, and was born the furthest from 1955.
The first reply is absolutely right, but just to add to it, you can see when old Biff returns to 2015, he’s in a lot of pain because he’s being erased from existence, just like how Marty was in pain right before he almost disappeared in part one.
My guess is that getting Jennifer home after having passed out was such a priority that Doc wasn’t really looking closely at the time circuits when he got in, he likely just put in the ones that were needed, not necessarily paying attention to the previous ones.
When Marty goes back to 1885 and ripps the fuel line and loses gas, why not take the gas and fuel line from the time machine that Doc put in the cave just weeks before. Doc in 1955 could have added gas and fixed the fuel line and keep everything going like it should. 🤷♂️
@@therock212006 I think you mean specific. If so, there are 2 time machines in 1885. The one Doc stores in the mine and the one Marty travels in to 1885. 🙂
Can you do a timeline of each delorean. There were two deloreans in the west. Marty brings one and doc had one there already. Why didn’t they just combine parts?
@@geranshoemaker4732 I meant part 3 when Marty crashes the delorean while being chased by indians. Thats the missing delorean. Marty and doc used docs original dolorean in front of the train? 🤔
One detail. In 1885 when Marty arrives in and busts the fuel line, that same DeLorean is already stashed in the mine, so why didn't they just grab the fuel line and gas from there?
According to Doc the timeline should change around Einstein and Jennifer as its being changed. Question 1: How did the old Biff travel to the future where Marty and Doc are and not to the future to where he is rich? Question 2: Why didnt the future change infront of Marty and Doc after old Biff gave young Biff the almenac?
Great video but except for one thing. Marty did not go back to 1955 to escape the terrorists. He accidently turned the time circuits on as he was trying to outrtde the terrorists. Did you not watch Marty's reaction when he was surprised that he was in 1955? He hit the time circuit by accident in part one. I saw this movie 100 times, the first time at the movies. He did not escape the terrorists by going to 1955. That was not done on purpose
Why was this video made? this is like reading cliff notes when you don't need to because the movies explain everything and are more fun to watch than this.
Here is the biggest plot hole. When Marty comes back to 1955 and gives Doc information on how to build time machine, why did it take Doc 30 years to build another time machine. At this point in 1955, there should be a new timeline created.
The problem with the 3ed movie is , Doc should have vanished from 1955 since he was killed, an should have shown Marty finding an fixing the car. Be blessed all in Jesus shalom
Love these movies though they have to be taken for what they are. It is easy to pick holes in them like if 1955 Doc knows his future is to die in 1885 then why doesn't Doc in 1885 know this as he has already sent Marty to go get him back? :-)
You are right they are great movies I just finished watching them again as I do every year. I think time travel inherently breaks the universe so any story about it will have problems with it but they are very entertaining none the less. The only way I could see time travel theoretically being possible is if there were many parallel universes with every possible reality and some of there timelines are more advanced then ours and other less advanced and you can jump between them
What I find fascinating is that Christopher Lloyd was born in 1938 so in 1985, he would’ve been about 47. Presumably, this is the age he’s playing in 1955 since he wears very little make up as opposed to the 1985 version of himself, which has been aged, so if we assume this, then that means the character of Doc Brown would’ve been born in 1908, the year he tells Marty that the Browns came to Hill Valley. The reason I find this interesting, is because 1885 would’ve only been 23 years before this, which is essentially just his parents generation so when they talk about the old west, it seems like it’s so long ago and yet in this universe, it would’ve basically been when Doc’s parents were growing up just as Marty visiting 1955 was him visiting when his parents were growing up.
The plot for Back to the future is flawed. I've yet to see a time travel movie which is worth watching, but this series is still fun to watch with the kids.
"a video of a much older version of Doc"...that's a joke, right? or were you guys impressed by Doc's face after his rejuvenation treatment in 2015 too?
Dude. Looper has two exact same videos with clickbait titles explain the backstory of Doc Brown. And videos are are just synapses of the movies. Not even trying to make content. Just more clickbait.
One point twenty one gigawatts ... doc calls them Libyan nationalists , Marty calls them terrorists ,mad dogs horse throws a shoe , he didn't just fall off. Marty didn't nick the fuel line it was a arrow from indians. Steam trains are powered by steam
It wasn’t from an arrow. Marty specifically said he “ripped” a fuel line. Gas was leaking from the line underneath the car so it couldn’t be from an arrow. If you’re going to criticize someone then have your facts correct as well.
