Producer George Pal brought this pulp fiction hero and his colleagues (the Fabulous Fab) to the screen in 1975--but did so as a camp film. Ron Ely, TV's Tarzan, played the lead role. You can viewed the full movie at www.warnerarchive.com.

We need a pulp cinematic universe Doc, The Shadow, and The Phantom would be a great start.

Dynamite Entertainment already recently published a comic book mini-series that had Doc, The Shadow and The Avenger teaming up to fight crime; it was called _Justice, Inc_ .

@@Mlotshaw1, only _if_ it's written as serious as the abovementioned comic book in my previous post (with Dynamite producing it , much like how Dark Horse Comics, DC, Archie, and Marvel produce the big and small screen adaptations of their respective properties) and *_without_* the silliness of this movie-itself inspired by the 1966 Batman TV show- or the latter two Burtonverse (Tim Burton's Batman movie setting) movies (in particular _Batman & Robin , which got totally blasted for its setting and script, but is what the current executive administration at Warners wants to do the DC comics movies going forward under James Gunn.)

The damned thing is, back in 1975, Ron Ely probably could have handled himself in a fight like this one in real life. The cast and crew on his "Tarzan" films were utterly in awe of his incredible strength. What a terrible thing that he suffered the tragedy that tore his family apart.
@Neville60001
@Neville60001 2 года назад
@Thomas DiMaggio, what was this tragedy, may I ask?

@@Neville60001 Ely's son Cameron, who was seriously mentally ill, murdered his stepmother by stabbing her; and then, when the police attempted to take him into custody, committed "suicide by cop" by attacking the police, who shot him to death. Ely tried to bring an action against the policemen who killed his son, arguing that the fact that his son had no firearms on him should have enabled the police to arrest him without killing him; but the court held the officers harmless for their actions, and dismissed the case.

@@Neville60001 In 2019 his wife was stabbed to death. The police were called to a family disturbance and they shot and killed the suspect who was his son Cameron. Ron Ely was not harmed. Ely is now 82. I really feel sorry for him.

This fight scene was the only part of the movie that was good BUT even so, it was flawed. They did Renny very well. The bad guy holding up a chair to protect himself and Renny punching through it was wonderful. Ham didn't have a sword cane but had a small blade that shot outside wasn't in keeping with the pulps but it was coated with Doc's knock out mixture that put people to sleep instantly was there. Monk was ape like. He had huge strength. In this video he was a fat dude that bounced enemies off his fat tummy. Very sad.

Too bad about Monk, he was a genius and enjoyed a good fight as much as the next one. Missed Habeus Corpus, Monk's Pig and Ham's chimp/monkey called Chemistry, a play on each other's profession.

Thank God they didn't put the rock Johnson as Savage. I'm sick of famous characters being changed from White just to make other people happy. Don't they have enough characters already that they need to get rid of every white character?
