David Letterman's favorite band leader, Paul Shaffer, joins Doc and the Tonight Show Band to play "A Taste of Honey." Used here with the kind permission of: J.S. Marketing Director Carson Entertainment Group
I have always felt that this was the beginning of Doc and the gang passing the "baton" onto Paul and the next Era of Late Night musicians. Each were so incredibly talented. This is truly remarkable! Thanks for sharing.
I remember watching this and that moment when the band kick-in and Paul puts his palm to his forehead thinking OMG I can't believe I'm here. I know the sound of sitting 3 feet from a roaring big-band and it's overwhelming. I can't even imagine what the feeling was knowing he was fronting them and playing the old Oliver Nelson Taste Of Honey arrangement that Doc and Ed (the drummer) played on originally.
