This was a fine special with some big-name stars. Doc and the band play very well indeed (of course, they knew this music pretty well already).

ABSOLUTELY!!! You always know it's Doc playing just as soon as you hear the first bar.

Doc is a technician always has been. Plays from the head, not the heart....

Doc's good, but there was a bit too much staccato on "I've heard that Song before"

Ain't James! Sound to raspy and thin...as usual flasher than James too!

As a trumpeter, Doc's sound has always been my primary dislike! James, Al, MF, Dizzy and several others are/were preferabl!

James had a nice fat, full bodied sound which can to some degree be traced to mouthpiece, trumpet bore and weight....
