Great video! Thanks so much! Your breakdown is paced slow enough that it’s demystifying some of the ‘maneuvers’ in this thing. 😀

Love the embellishments. My father would add a lot but unfortunately I've never gotten the hang of it. I suspect you are like me when trying to show specifics. I do so many things unconsciously that I sometimes don't really know what the heck I'm doing.

Exactly. I'm not a music theory guy either so that makes it more difficult

@@Flatpickmastery I like that you don't get all caught up in theory. This is a great lesson in using your ears and your fingers. Thanks for sharing!

@@JohnTimothy-m8x My father grew up in Appalachia during the depression and taught himself steel while my uncle who was blind while I knew him taught him to play "spanish" guitar, standard 6 string, as he called it and visa versa. Both played by instinct. In my memory my uncle played only steel but my father played mostly 6 string. I guess that is why I ended up learning to play. FWIW, Back in college I learned to play a little classical and got use to using my fingers instead of a pick. I still do even though I no longer play classical. When I play, if I try to use a pick I keep hitting the wrong strings because I don't really know which strings to pick. But my thumb and fingers do. ??? I guess that's why if I slow down and try to show someone how to play a lick I play I often can't show them. Really strange.

This video has a YT circa 2009 vibe about it.
