The new “Docking” video shows how to bring boats to predetermined points by using a stopping procedure - giving consideration to wind, current, and boat traffic - and coming to a full, safe stop within twelve inches of points of contact on the dock or slip.
Viewers will also learn four techniques to apply to bring their boats dock side or into the slip depending upon the predominant wind or current in their given circumstances. Also featured are special tips such as which conditions pose the greatest challenges for docking.

I can comment on several things in this video, however, a captain should be able to dock without relying on dock hands.

Great video. Question. You recommend docking port side. Are you saying NOT to dock starboard side? Curious about your reasoning. Is it due to prop walk? Thank youo.

Correct, docking port side rather than starboard side, when that's a reasonable choice, will be somewhat easier as a result of prop walk in a powerboat with typical propeller rotation.

@@AmericasBoatingChannel - OFTEN port is not an option. This was great quick little advice video for beginners and after they figure it out, they for sure better learn to compensate for those times there is no place to dock EXCEPT starboard side. Everyone has to start someplace but boaters need to learn to handle their vessel in all conditions/situations.

Prop walk?

It's the tendency of a turning propeller to push a boat's stern sideways especially when in reverse. This will be to port or left for the typical clockwise turning propeller.
