Any interview with Dr Daniels is welcome. Lets hope the tide is turning and he gains more exposure. His books were ahead of their time. Looking forward to part 2. Cheers.

Another thought provoking songs might be: 1) Tupac - Dear Mumma 2) GhostFace Killer - All that I got is you 3) Wu Syndicate - Where was Heaven These would be more self reflective.

Really fantastic video! You asked some great questions and the conversation was wonderful and enlightening as always. May I ask how you got Dr. Daniels to join you for an interview?

Thank you! Along with the interview request, I sent him a photograph of my bookshelf, which currently contains about 80% of everything he's published in book form, thus proving that I am a die hard fan. As you might expect, he was courteous in a way that is rarely seen these days.

@@alexanderkyd6152 So cool to hear. Shame for me as a fellow die-hard fan as I have only e-books and no physical copies! Lol! I too work in a somewhat similar environment to yours as it is a government operated psychiatric hospital for individuals who were found not guilty by reason of insanity. Then again, unsure of what I would ask the good doctor even if I was given the opportunity.

Yeah, personal responsibility is very important. It's easy to blame and be the victim, rather than take responsibility for your actions; witch you must do if you want to change!

The good doctor calls it "dishonest fatalism" - the belief that your life is entirely predetermined by external forces and nothing is ever up to you.

I believe victimization will end the western world. It seems to be very bad in England and America. It's rising sharply in Ireland in addition to wealth. Like to spend my summers in the Ukraine and I can tell you that there is no winy, wingers there. What about Bulgaria ? Are the people the same as England or don they still have some gratitude for what happened in Normandy and Stalingrad?

@@benmcguire4014 Why would they have gratitude? How many know where those places are, never mind are aware of the terrible events that happened there? Even if they are aware why would they care? It had nothing to do with them. The war ended over 75 years ago. Their grandparents were not born then. We should all be grateful, but, sadly most don't give a shit.

@@I_Don_t_want_a_handle Even before/during/after a war there are people like those in the prisons discussed in the video who just don't generate those grateful thoughts automagically. It's up to good people to encourage such thoughts via actions that involve them as children. Once they're in prison it becomes very difficult.

Any (classical) music needs a kind of level (to appreciate it at the first place) which requires thinking, listening and reflecting... therefore such an exposure (especially who wants to be exposed) is good in itself! Go on my friend, you do a work which is very valuable!

I think easy jazz would be better. Classical music can be obnoxious. Expensive restaurants choose dinner jazz for a reason: it's relaxing.

@@VIEWITIS sort of agree, but then you assume that the listeners need "cooling" down (well, being in prison indeed might have been the consequence of being hot-headed at one point 🙂). What I think classical music can "deliver" is that the music itself is an "interpretation" of a given element of life. If somebody can "understand" that the person will never look at (well, listen to) music again on the same way. Bach, Vivaldi (even some Chopin nocturnes) are having some "histories" behind it w/o any textual description. This is why they are probably the most-consumable (Bach's pieces on "dedication" to god, or Vivaldi's 4 seasons). On the other hand, a Rachmaninov, Sibelius are at the other end, less tangible. The composer should ""talk" to the listeners with its music (if it's good music). Nowadays, either the music is coupled with lyrics, so the listener doesn't have to really listen to the music, or the music (in rap e.g.) is really there for noise-making only...
