As a huge Marvel fans and I loved your breakdown, it's interesting to hear how the movie seems from a perspective of non Marvel fans. Plus you guys re so funny ! Keep up the good work! ❤️
I really enjoyed this film but they did my girl wrong. I'm tired of Marvel dragging Wanda's character. Loses mother, father, brother, husband 3 times, then loses her kids twice.... Also Happy Anniversary. 😊 ❤️🥂
This is the first time (maybe not the last time) I've left a comment after watching several of your reviews of movies that I'd never go see because they're scary 😄, and I'm motivated to do so because I love Marvel movies, have been reading Marvel comics since the 70s and am THAT nerd. And I wanted to say thank you for your perspective! I have always wanted to know how this franchise strikes someone who isn't a comics' geek and I get it now! I appreciate Joseph's take because, yep! Dr. Strange is an arrogant so n so, and his mistakes in the film (all the Dr. Stranges' mistakes) I think are deliberately placed because he's a flawed character. But I LOVE the way you tell it, Joseph!! It's giving Christmas dinner at my Aunt Patty's house energy! I had an aunt who described Dobby from the Harry Potter movies as "that lil monkey, what his name?" LOVE LOVE LOVE your energy. Mr. NICK, however! I respect your experience but come on, fella! Don't hate, celebrate! Let your inner child have some fun! We comic geeks won't hurt cha!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you guys! And I hope the anniversary was great!
I think this was just about the darkest Marvel movie made in the last 15 years. I friggin' loved it, amazing bad ass witch ripping people apart, destroying heroes solo and so many amazing visuals. Probably my favourite movie of the year so far. We need more bad ass witch movies!
I enjoyed this film. It was entertaining like your review. You guys are so FUNNY! You always bring me sunshine every time I watch your movie reviews. I hope it won't be another 6 years before we get Dr.Strange 3 =)
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! 🎉🎉🎉💗 I was so looking forward to your review and I was absolutely not disappointed. 😂 Thank you for the good time! There was a time that I would've been so excited about new Marvel movies but ever since Endgame I've just completely lost my love and interest. Probably will just watch this movie for the cameos.
Wonderful review as always 😂 What's funny is Wanda had the power all along to jump realities, in fact she's so powerful she can create two more of the exact same children if she wanted to 😂 Another funny note, America claimed she didn't exist in any reality/ universe, yet she was in quite a number of them proclaiming this and has knowledge of each one, double 😂 Also the zombie aspect to the movie was another reference to the What If series. Happy Anniversary 🔔
Listening to y'al describe this movie is hilarious. I'm a marvel fan and super love Wanda specifically so listening to two folks who don't care about the series is refreshing. It's fun to see how silly the whole thing is to people on the outside of the fandom.😂
There was actually a Tiktok where a black comic fan explains that NEITHER Stranger nor Wanda are good. so there's that. I have to give you guys props because there is so much Comic lore in these movies and if you are not a fan of comics, it is confusing as hell. So Props to you for trying to wade through the madness.
Very fun review. Like someone else said, it’s very interesting to see the point of view as a non-MCU fan. I can definitely say that things will get confusing every now and then if you are not caught up on all previous things (think of the MCU as a grand scale tv show). There are certain things that you won’t know yet unless you know their future stories from the comics. There are certain people called Nexus beings that are the same in every universe and certain events that are destined to happen in every universe, etc…
This movie was a bit messy, but I love the Sam Raimi callbacks to his (admittedly) better movies. LOOOOVE Drag Me to Hell, so I loved the references. He went weird here, which is great, but this movie set up about 8 movies. The violence was pretty good. Feels like there's an R-rated cut somewhere in there. Love you guys!
This movie sounds so convoluted, plus with so many multiverses and characters popping up, it must have lasted six hours. I'll be sure to bring a box lunch. To be honest, I think I am definitely going to pass. I am not versed on the 'verses, and not interested enough to start. What a terrific review! Enjoyed every minute! Happy Anniversary, Joseph and Nick!
I saw it yesterday. I thought it was an entertaining popcorn flick. Not great. Loved the irreverence you two brought to the review. I want to like these Marvel movies more than I do, but I can't keep up with all the stories and details and "lore" or whatever. Anyway, Happy Anniversary!
OMG, hysterical! Love the eye rolls. I think you guys need to add an eye roll count in your videos. Maybe also rate movies based on how bad they are and give it x number of eye rolls out of 5…the more eye rolls the worst it is.
I enjoyed this movie enough, for the most part but I would be pissed if I hadn't seen wandavision. I recall marvel saying before that you wouldn't need to follow the shows to follow the movies, which is bullshit. Great review guys, as usual. 👍
I'm OK with Rachel McAdams having a PhD in "multiverse studies". In that universe (800 hundred whatever), they know about multiverses and study them. In Strange's universe (the avengers one, 600 hundred whatever) only a few people theorize about it. The universes are different, and I suppose you can argue that's a license for lazy writing but it makes sense.
Happy Anniversary 🌹 don't worry it seems a lot of reviewers aren't liking it that much. I kinda know by now these movies are money grabs cause they know slap Marvel on it and they'll fill the seats. Im a comic book fan but what they doing now is just crap. Thanks for reviewing anyway♥️
Totally agree with your views on the superhero movies. I started this movie (went with a group and this is the one people wanted to see) I walked out early though cause I just couldn't bear it lol
I love y’all reviews and look forward to the podcast sessions. I hope the next theme is about death. I know Joseph made a comment about it in the Vortex review. Nevertheless, I really liked this movie more so than the first one. It had Sam Rami all over it. The horror aspects was good and the movie coming out on Mother’s Day weekend was fitting. Watching or knowing about Wanda Vision would be good before going to see this movie.
Lol y’all reviews are hilarious. You guys should check WandaVision out. Y’all already like her, Katherine Hahn is amazing in it, and it’ll make this movie make sense. And Nick will enjoy the homage that it plays to different eras in television.
Just finished watching this movie an hour ago. Yeah, I think I finally aged out of this kind of movie genre. The superhero stuff...I'm done with it. The Batman made me suspicious it was no longer for me, but this movie was the final confirmation.
Joseph interrupting Nick with"We need to talk about that"..."We need to get to that" was so cute. Sounds like more of a wanda movie than dr strange. Plot doesn't sound so thrilling. Imagined something different based on the trailor. But ardent marvel fans may still enjoy. Your review had me rolling. PS: Joseph, the ring looking nice
Oh no....no no no spoil me. I need to know everything. The first Doctor Strange movie, as an epileptic that movie was just how to murder epileptics with special effects. I had had to have everyone tell me when I needed to duck and cover my head so I couldn't see anything. I listened to the movie. But I wasn't willing to have a grand mal seizure for Marvel.
IDK Maybe it’s because I’m a lot older now, but the marvel cinematic universe to me has lost its luster and this movie is a pure example of that.. this movie didn’t know what it identity was.. it’s like they wanted it to be kid/family friendly but at the same time they where trying to be hardcore PG-13 with the deaths and horror elements, this movie just felt like it left a lot on the bone and left me unsatisfied.. I’m 26 now and can look at these films objectively and the MCU should have ended with END GAME imo it was better when the first iron man’s came out. Obviously with all the hero’s and movies Disney has at there disposal they aren’t going to stop unfortunately.
My main problem with this movie was that it didn't really add anything to the Marvel cinematic universe other than introduce America Chavez, and I don't think that part was done particularly well.
As a big marvel fan, also an mcu fan. The movie is a solid 7. But only if you have watched Wandavision & probably other mcu stuff as well. I went with someone who hasn't seen it and they were confused. The multiverse rules do have alot of potholes atm, less than you guys think, but still some. The problem with these movies is they don't stand on Thier own well at all anymore.
Spoilers ahead I was disappointed by this film as i was expecting to see another version of Iron Man(there was a photoshop photo of Tom Cruise as Iron Man) but sadly he wasn't in it. I was surprised to see Patrick Stewart and John Krasinkski (who I thought was Zachary Levi) in this film. Parts of it gave me Evil Dead meets Darkman vibes with Dr Strange being badly disfigured like Darkman. I also love seeing the set from Spiderman 2 at the beginning of the film. Honestly I was so glad I saw Wandavision before seeing this film, otherwise I'd be lost with the films plot (since Wanda is grieving over the events of Wandavision )as she's trying to fix things from her time at Westview resulting in the universe to go wary for Dr Strange to try and fix. A decent film but I prefer Spiderman No Way Home(2021)
Wanda gave herself away, but not the way you said, lol. It was by accident, she said America's name and Dr. Strange had never her name. Bruce Campbell beating himself is a throwback to one of his early movies where his character is beating himself because of a curse or something.
I love Wanda as a character and Elizabeth is great as her, but the fact that she's this all powerful witch who "goes crazy" and has to be put down is so overdone and annoying. Also, multiverse studies lmao, so ridiculous
I enjoyed this movie more than I did the last Spiderman movie. Maybe because I ran to the movies before everyone could run their mouths about the cameos. 🙄. I enjoyed the horror mixed in it. Wanda didn't play! 🤭
