"Mr Doctor", "ITS STRANGE!...", "Maybe so, but whom am I to judge", one of the best comedic lines in Marvel - I loved this one, your gonna love seeing more of Dr Strange.
This movie has one of my favorite quotes in the MCU. "We never lose our demons, we only learn to live above them." This is actually a really important thing to learn for many that struggle with things. Such an underrated line.
Not the first time Tilda Swinton has used magic in a movie; she was the evil White Witch in the Narnia series. She was also the Angel Gabriel in “Constantine.”
@@MD-br2my Egomaniac genius becomes humbled by circumstance and develops into a better person and superhero along the way. Quick, tell me which movie I just described, Iron Man or Dr. Strange.
Everytime Dr Strange opens his fancy watch drawer at the start of the film I'm hoping there's going to be a limited edition Dora the Explorer watch in there...
Doctor Strange is one of my favorite heroes due to the fact that he’s not one of the more known heroes and he also deals with magic. His concept is so interesting.
If you think the visuals are crazy imagine seeing it in 3-D in theaters. I did when it first came out and it was one of the few movies that was worth paying extra for 3-D.
Okay, how can THAT timeline match up? Iron Man 2 takes place in or around 2010. I don't want to spoil anything for Sam & Tristan (SAM AND TRISTAN, STOP READING 😁), so I'll tread carefully -- we know from future movies that 2012 is "about five years too early", so Dr. Strange "becomes" Dr. Strange (so to speak) in or around 2017, which means his accident happened right before that. How does that not match up with the Civil War timeline?
@@RobFMDetroit it's unclear how much time passed between Strange's accident and his reaching Kamar Taj, and it's unclear how much time passed between then and him becoming Sorcerer Supreme. Either of the montages showing passage of time could easily have been years; in fact, it all makes much more sense than if he got in his accident and became Sorceror Supreme within a couple of months.
@@jawbone78 That... is a really good point. I'll say the thing nobody ever says in a comment section - I think you may be correct 😂 Although we DO know for sure (SAM&TRISTANSTOPREADING) that he's performing surgery in 2012, so the accident was at least after that. But if Iron Man 2 happened right before that...
@@RobFMDetroit I read somewhere that the awards in Strange's apartment are dated 2016, which would support the impression I always got that Strange spent months in Kamar-Taj.
@@RobFMDetroit I've always wondered that myself, it is unclear, but by civil war it should be well known that Rhodey is war machine, however the guy says "some kind of experimental armour", which would suggest the clip of Hammer testing the armour in Iron man 2
37:55 The book Stan Lee is reading on the bus is the "The Doors of Perception", a 1954 book written by Aldous Huxley. That book is also where the group "The Doors" got their name.
When my brother let me read his Marvel comic collection in the 1970s, Dr. Strange was one of my favorite titles. As a product of the 60s and 70s, the comic embraced the psychedelia of the times. I was very happy to see how this was handled in the MCU.I thought it was very well done.
People who were born with a disability tend to be pleasant people, because they appreciate the things they can do and thrive on normalcy and social interaction. People who become disabled tend to be very angry, because they have lost a piece of themselves and don't know how to function. My ex fiance was born disabled. I became disabled. It took a few years of therapy before I could move past my rage (hence, the "ex"). It doesn't excuse how Strange treated people after the accident, but that's my take on why it happens.
35:32 💔😂 This entire Christine Jump scare scenes just was soooo awesome.. lol I thoroughly enjoyed those scenes. And also, the scene where the broom or mop falls down and she screams, that was not even in the script, but Rachel's performance was soooo awesome.. The team decided to keep it in the movie 😂😂😂😭
On his car accident, I bet he's looked down at that monitor a hundred times and nothing's ever happened. And we do the same thing, in different ways. I've done it, and paid the price. We do stupid things on the road and get away with it every time, until that one time something happens you didn't expect and now you're paying the price, and maybe someone else's family too. We all need to be attentive on the road and not get distracted!
29:06 Nah, the Relic chooses who it will work for and whom it won't .. and besides, Kaecilius is someone who can bend reality around him, he does not really need a cape to fly lol 😂😂
Sunz of Man sampled and remade that song ft Old Dirty Bastard. both are great, tho not sure if many ppl heard the Sunz of Man version.. It ALSO had Earth Wind and Fire on the song
@@soramirez5473 i don't know if you know anything about Urban Black music. But I'm would never speak on a remake in a comment to you. In 76 I brought this album, THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD EARTH WIND AND FIRE. This is a that is as Big as Genesis and Mick Jagger. And this Song was Written and Produced by the lead singer. Doctor Stephen Strange is a version of Kent Nelson aka DOCTOR FATE of JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK and was INSPIRED by Pascal Randolph I'm watching the movie right now on RU-vid Blessings and HUGS! 👑💜
Doctor Strange: Master of the Mystic Arts. The Sorcerer Supreme. The old execution method is known as draw and quartering. They tie a rope to both arms and legs to four horses and then have the horses move apart. 😮 Doctor Strange isn't a code name...it's his actual last name and his profession. Dr Stephen Strange, neurosurgeon. Steve Ditko the original artist on Spider-Man also set the tone on Doctor Strange as well. His somewhat cartoony art style worked well for mind bending adventures into the supernatural. 😮 Stranger's relic cape is known in the comics as The Cloak of Levitation.
in the comics actually, Tony Stark and Stephen Strange are a lot similar, just like Stephen does not believe in magic before witnessing it, Tony also does not believe in magic even though Strange has shown him many times and he has used it itself, he considers the magic of Strange, Loki, Amora, Asgard to be a form of advanced science
Obviously what he said wasn't ok butttt hear me out. If i lost my hands, my job, all the time I'd spent becoming the best in my field, all of my money trying my hardest to fix my hands, all of my possessions, and I'd just learned that my last hope fell through when my ex shows up and tells me i still have him i dont think id be very nice either
In order to make Tony Stark's downfall steeper, the first movie borrowed from Dr. Strange's origin story. That's why when the MCU finally got to Dr. Strange, he comes off as Stark 2.0. Also: Dr. Strange was named after the comic book that he first appeared in: "Strange Tales." But readers would not have found his name _strange,_ because there was an actor named Glenn Strange. (DC's Adam Strange and Hugo Strange were also created while Glenn Strange was actively acting.) Wikipedia has a list of real life people named Strange. Hilariously, "Steve Strange" is on the list.
Iron Man is a man of science, Dr Strange was strictly for science but got to enter a realm transcending beyond the boundaries of his known reality all due to an accident. It was meant to be....to gain something, you gotta lose something.
BTW in the comics Baron Mordo is the Arch-nemesis of Dr Strange. I'm glad we got to see a little of his back story makes for a more interesting future villian.
and Kaecillius is his lackey. Mordo in the comics was always jealous that Strange became Sorcerer Supreme, so he wanted to surpass him and take what is rightfully(or so he thinks) his. but here in the movie we see a shift, he was a mentor to Strange and somewhat of a stickler for the rules. yet everyone misuses magic - breaks the rules and there will be a cost. he himself warned Strange not to walk a dark path, in the end Mordo is the one that walks it. Reduce the numer of sorcerers and you reduce the number of threats to reality.
Underrated movie. They captured the character and aesthetic of the comics perfectly. Steve Ditko's 1960s and 1970s Doctor Strange comics are some of the trippiest artwork ever created by humanity.
Tristan, I’m kinda feeling the dual watch wield. I’m assuming you use the Apple Watch for fitness/sleep tracking/ notifications. May I ask what watch you wear on your left?
So that watch that’s on your left wrist?? Lol. I’m just a horological fan myself. Have a nice collection but I’m digging the dual wield of smartwatch and classic watch.
(🤭I’ve said this in every reaction to Doctor Strange) It’s not a cape, it’s a cloak! Lol Its name is: the Cloak of Levitation…ie: Cloak. Not a cape. And it’s the actual best magical item (sorry, Caps Shield, Mjolnir…) in the MCU. it has touch memory (knows everything ab u in 1 touch) and has free will. If it chooses u, it becomes an extension of u. Like a removable arm that knows exactly what u want it to do. It’s flippin’ amazing & it’s mischievous, which I love. Love the Cloak!!!
This channel is pretty cool. Tristan is a clown a little too much which takes away from the realism of movie watching. I’m thinking who watches movies and talks like this throughout a movie. Sam’s reactions are on point but over all I’ve enjoyed going through the MCU with you guys. I’ll sub!
Aw, no Black Widow watch (minus the end credits). 😔 Lol And yes, in the comics Mordo is Strange's arch nemesis. So he was bound to give in to evil unfortunately.
You guys should try Evil dead franchise(1981-2022) , scary movie franchise(1999-2015), saw franchise(2004- ) , scream franchise(1996-_) and Halloween franchise (1975-2022)
Honestly, trying to predict what's going to happen in almost every single scene gets old from Tristan. I think he should stop trying to predict and just react. ALOT of youtubers do the same, and lets be real, it's easy to predict super hero movies what is going to happen most of the time, but doesn't mean it should be done. I like the channel alot though, just my one critique.
the 35 year old colonel who broke his legs in a experimental armor isnt rhodes it was the dude, wearing the Hammer Tech armor in Iron Man 2 which malfunctioned, twisting his torso 180 from his legs
Among the many things Marvel did So Darn Well, for the entire Infinity Saga, is Casting. Benedict Cumberbatch was a perfect choice for Strange. But it's not just the main characters. All the supporting characters, in so many of their movies, are also cast so very well. That really adds up over the course of so long of a chain of films. Also: loving, the Stardew Valley music in the backround before/after the movie. 😀
