Another Week, another Doctor Who Review. this time for the new episode Boom by the one and only Steven Moffat, but was his return worth the wait, just how good is Boom?
There are hints there with the repeated parent lines. But I think there's a chance it's a misdirect and they're gonna hit us with something else like maybe Ruby being the same as the Toymaker or similar
I did not like this episode at all, this could be because i watched the previous 2 episodes which just drained me. They were fast yet not very informative so when u were hitting like introduction of the villains or the problem doctor had to solve it was almost more than half the runtime, for this it was more like instantly danger and felt dragged out till like they reached the point where we see the doctor figure stuff out. The capitalism and religious debate whilst had some interesting aspects to it they weren’t as polished i felt it could have been, felt more like a rant than it did an actual debate which i have seen moffat do. At this point i would give the season a 2/10 becuz only this episode felt a bit like doctor who and not Wizard What as it did in the past episodes.
I thought the capitalism and religious part wasn't really meant to be a debate, more just simple commentary, but it defo would have been interesting if Mundy hit back, sort of like S9 Zygon Inversion, like U said. I liked the build up of the resolution, you see the doctor slowly figure stuff out from the start, but there's just too much going on for them put it together, I think the splice kid was the only time the tension felt a little forced or like the episode was wasting a little time. The dad AI thing felt like a leap, but one I was willing to take for the show. Shame you didn't like it, but hopefully the next episode is an improvement 👍🏾
Aside from Ruby stepping out of the TARDIS into an apocalyptic world like she's going shopping on a Saturday. We need just one Dalek to get rid of her.
When your standards so high, that even a brilliant episode, can't live up to your expectations, I - at the least - expect from you the same high standard in writing: it is it's, not its. (English is not my first language but even I know that).
@@channyh.221B I've been watching Dr Who for more than 50 years and this new direction has but one purpose.....to push the message.......pronouns, gender ideology and Rose and Donna's toxic attack on David Tennants Doctor are prime examples. This type of messaging has no place in Dr Who. I'm all for inclusion and replacement, Jack Harkness was a fine fun character and his sexual orientation was very low key but it added a light relief to any story he was in. I don't care if Yasmin Finney is trans, I don't care if Ncuti Gatwa is gay, just don't make the characters the same.....I'm gay myself and even I don't like the way Finney and Gatwa have to be Trans and Gay. Does that make me Homophobic?....I don't think so. In Pertwee and Bakers day, the show was never about preaching any message, it was about a monster of the week, good solid story writing and hiding behind the sofa. Gatwa is not on the same plane as Baker, Pertwee or Tennant and never will be. Stories like Spcae Babies and the Devils Chord are absolute cringe rubbish compared to something like the Talons Of Weng Chiang. If you like the new Dr Who enjoy it by all means, after more than 50 years the formula has changed to much for my liking. I'll stick to classic old Dr Who...that was real Dr Who....the glory days that are gone forever
