Hi there! Great video and so helpful! Can I ask, is the only way to remove the arm from the shoulder by removing the torso entirely? Is there any other technique for this at all?
Excellent! I’ve been toying (pun intended) with the idea of customising a figure or two and I was wondering exactly how to best pop off the limbs and head.
Working on my own custom Who-verse figure, thanks so much for this tutorial! I do have one question before I start buying and comparing, maybe you can help. If I wanted to swap the lower legs off a Fifth Doctor for the lower legs of the Seventh Doctor to give him a dapper pair of shoes, are the lower legs roughly the same size? Or would i be better using a different leg assembly entirely, like the Hybrid Dalek Sec legs for example?
Thank you for this video. So I am trying to make a custom James Bond Timothy dalton opening scene of the Living daylights style figure, it's the black tactical suit. Do you think the Dalton "Narrator" Dr. Who figure head would fit on a Dr. Who Brigadier figure? Is it possible for an older figure head to fit on a newer figure? thanks!
Think it’s possible. They may have different head connections. As I say in the video, not all heads just pop off; some are plugged in. You’d most likely have to come up with a solution, if you want it to retain articulation. Otherwise, you can just super glue the head on.
Will the boil & pop method work with a series 2 Rose Tyler figure? I'm unsure as that's one of the earlier figures in the range so may need different methods.
I do enjoy your videos. Thank you. The only Dalek I ever took to pieces, was one of those ugly 'New Paradigm' ones, from an 'Asylum Of The Daleks' set. I did so, to insert a firework, and a load of scrap styrene, glitter, and ground up (unused) cat litter. Very satisfying bang. Have to remember to actually set the camera off, next time...😖😖😖 Saying that, I have a 3-D printed Dalek waiting in the wings, solely to go out with a bang.
Thanks. Yeah I don’t really have the camera set up for that. I did try and do it close up to the camera but it was hard to keep my movement in shot, as it’s tough to split the figures apart.
I've taken off one of my 4th doctor heads but when I try and put it back on the peg, the peg just retracts from the force and lowers down into the torso so the head doesn't properly re-attach. Does anyone know how to stop the peg from collapsing?
Hmmm that’s odd. That figure caters to removing the head, as it has alternate head sculpts you can swap. The peg must have come out of place. You can can either open up the body and secure the peg back in place or maybe just boil & pop the head alone then pop it on the peg. It should soft enough to fit on easily before the peg collapses in hopefully.
@@who-time ye I've sort of sorted it out. I've had to put some super glue around the peg to keep it in place but head still isn't as secure as it first was when I got it. Thanks for the response tho
This was very helpful as I've just started exploring customizing. Once the heads, for example, have been removed and customized, do you have to boil them again to get them popped back in? Or will a hair dryer work to soften it enough?
You can pop the heads back on without boil & pop, just requires more strength; for the other parts, it'll be easier to boil and pop again. I've heard that some people use a hair dryer but I can't speak from personal experience on that one.
