I'm sure he will. It also just seems very RTD to tell us it's not going to happen when it definitely is. Remember before he officially took over he said he wanted Dr. Who to get big like marvel and get a bunch if spinoffs like a 10 part series with 10th amd 11th.
If the BBC brings back Fourteen, it’ll be only to show his ending. He’d declare himself healed, hand over a croquiet mallet to Donna, tell her to hit the Tardis … and vanish. Donna’s seen how Fifteen pops up, she understands, and hits the Tardis with a croquet mallet so it slides, disappears … then reappears as Fifteen’s TARDIS.
@@bennettnez4711 I don't think RTD will bring him back. I honestly think the main purpose of the bigeneration was just to give Tennant's Doctor a happy ending so audiences wouldn't have to be sad watching him die again, and I doubt there's anything else RTD wants to do with that storyline.
I was thinking the same thing! My brain went: Well now that they have Star Wars land you don’t need Star Tours in Tomorrowland. That space could be a doctor who ride. You could even make it variable adventures with different doctors & companions! Like one time you get the 12th Doctor. One time you get 10 & they help you as… we’re… stuck… in the tour vehicle… THAT’S MIDNIGHT!!!!
I noticed Mrs. Flood said she hadn’t seen a police box like that in 50 years….that would have been about the end of the Third Doctor, start of the Forth Doctor. Given that, the news about the mystery linking back to the Third Doctor’s time and Mom is interesting!
@@Amlock87 Liz would be interesting, but I think The Doctor would have recognized her. Jo Grant is around, worked with Sarah Jane, met the 11th Doctor, and was even at the Doctor Companion’s Meeting at the end of The Power of the Doctor (13th’s regeneration episode). I think we will be meeting Mrs. Flood within the series, and she Ruby and The Doctor. Can’t wait!
@ZappaBlues most of us aren't saying we actually *want* him back. Mostly that RTD is predictable and it's super obvious that it will happen at some point.
The view from those of us from the classic era. David Tennant has RETURNED to the role TWICE. Patrick Troughton returned THREE times. There is no rush, we have learned to wait 😊
They could do comic books and Big Finish audios for Fourteen, but other than that I don't really think we'll see Tennant again on-screen until 2033 to be honest.
@@Benplanes I am very aware of that, and actually a lot of the time when I do hear things that sound unlikely to be happening or a person denying if they will be in it, 95% of the time I'm always more on the side of "Oh, he (or she) is definitely lying!" However, I just personally believe this time that we won't be seeing him for a good while again, but if I am wrong I won't have a problem with it, if it does happen for the finale or whatever then that sounds epic. As long as Russell does not bring him back before then and gives Ncuti enough time to be the Doctor on his own first, which I do think he will so yeah, but we shall see!
Right before RTD took over again he was doing interviews about how Dr. Who should get a bunch of spinoffs like marvel. He said he wanted a unit show, and a 10 part series starring the 10th and 11th doctors. Shortly thereafter he got control again and struck a deal with disney, so I'd be willing to bet it's a matter of time.
They should really get Sean Pertwee to play the 3rd Doctor if they can. He went as the 3rd Doctor for Halloween one year and he looked perfect. Plus, dude can act. He was a highlight of the Gotham series it's entire run.
Sean should've been brought back years ago since the moment of the legendary Event Horizon - a massive missed opportunity along with Michael Sheen who maybe should have replaced Capaldi to revive the show's fortunes(?) I'm a huge fan of RTD's writing but I hope this new season is better than the recent Xmas special.
@MaybeAnnatar No I totally disagree I didn't even like William Hartnell's Doctor being replaced by different actors the only reason those incarnation of the Doctor's work is because of those actors with the disney technology they could AI those actors back to life Sean Pertwee already stated that he didn't want to undo his father's work and rightfully so I agree with him but that's not to say Sean Pertwee could play the Doctor as a different incarnation perhaps 16th or the 17th that would be great and that way he can be his own Doctor not trying to be like his dad.
As I've said before. I believe the reason Tennant is there in the background is so he can simply come back to an Xmas special or something and they don't really need to spend screen time explaining all the timey-whimey stuff as to how 14 got there. It's also a reason why 14 will look older when he does return. It also means the likes of Big Finish can write stories in this timeline, that can add lore to much more current TV season events. He's also a great ambassador for the show and an absolute workhorse. He can talk on late night TV shows etc about Doctor Who, bring more eyes to the show. It just makes sense. Bonnie Langford too. She's there for external projects from the main show, like Big Finish products with her and Tennant. They really want to expand it all and make almost everything going forward as cannon. And also - the bi-generation was a twist almost no one seen coming. I loved it.
The possibility that Episode 7 might see a revisit to the classic "The Daemons" story from the Third Doctor's era kept coming into my mind too. Can hardly wait!
Wooohoooo!!!!! So excited!!! In celebration, here's my most bonkers theory: What if Varada is playing a grown up Lulubelle? I know that she's a different race from the baby who played Lulu (though, I don't know how difficult it would have been for them to find a baby of the right age, at the right time, who looked more like Varada, or vice versa), but with so much going on regarding parallels and coincidences between The Doctor, Ruby, and Lulu in The Christmas special, what if that's where they're headed with it? How fun would that be?
I figured 14 would eventually come back to reintegrate with 15. Because of what 15 said, "I'm fine because you fixed yourself. We're Time Lords. We're doing rehab out of order"
With the 14th Doctor, as he has already regenerated, presumably the 14th Doctor post-Toymaker can no longer regenerate? Is he still a Time Lord? Or did the 15th take all the regeneration energy, which means the 14th can no longer regenerate, or will he regenerate into a new 15th Doctor? Plot points which are likely to never be resolved and not really thought through tbh.
I think using Sean Pertwee as the Third Doctor in any major form would be ill-advised and even ghoulish. I could see it in a minor way, but I have hard time thinking of anything that couldn't be done with archival footage. Regarding Fourteen, I think there are two occasions where using him would be appropriate. One would be side material (things like Red Nose and such) that would show Fourteen and Donna and/or Rose on a quick touristy thing somewhere. The other would be Fifteen's final episode (which will hopefully be quite a few years away) where something might require both their efforts, with one or both of them being severely injured and them jointly regenerating into Sixteen.
Now is the perfect time to set up the "Curator" storyline! Even if it's just a Big Picture story arc, the 14th Doctor could find his "retirement" taking care of U.N.I.T. and preparing the Gallifrey Falls No More painting. The adventure could answer how the older Elizabeth 1's anger at The Doctor is restored to love before her death and stimulate the regeneration into The Curator/Fourth Doctor v2.0 Plus, this could be the fulfillment of "old favorites" mixing into the timeline. Future guest appearances would have the option of which Doctor they really are. Who knows?
I assume this means that Tenant & Tate won't be coming back in any of the episodes already scripted and filmed. But I think 14's fate should be addressed when 15 regenerates
We already know 14's fate. His fate is get his happy ending living with Donna. We don't need to know anything else, and I don't think there's anything else to be "addressed."
Here’s a thought about the “dark secret” from the Third Doctor era-Elizabeth Sladen was not the first actor cast for Sarah Jane Smith. That was April Walker, who is a tall blonde woman, fairly reminiscent of Caroline John. If they want to go really dark, they could bring Ms Walker back as “the original” Sarah Jane, and retcon Ms Sladen as some other being who replaced the original. Can’t see it happening; but it would be a very dark secret from the days of the Third Doctor.
"The Daemons" was my first Doctor Who episode ever. It was in the summer of 1972, the year I graduated from high school. I've been watching the Doctor ever since!
This is one of the coolest comments everrr. Cannot imagine what it's like to have this show in your life for so long, this show has so much reach between many generations. Beautiful
"I think he died. I’m going to start saying that. He went to Venice, 2063, when the city sank, and he went into a whirlpool, which is really sad..." Russel T Davies in regards to the future of dr 14
I started watching Dr Who at the time of the third doctor and it gives me a jolt every time I see Sean Pertwee! He looks so much like his dad!!! I will be interested to find out what this connection to the third doctor is.
Big fan of Sean Pertwee's work, wouldn't want to push him about playing his dad's role if he's uncomfortable with it, he's already given us so many great roles himself.
As a 56 year old fan Ive got to hold my hands up and say the first episode of this new era really grated on me it owed a lot to an episode of Jodies where that little thing was eating everything. I think its time I gave this series Ive grown up with, tried to write for just fade away
i love how she said "I think they need to leave it alone for a while" abt 14 even after RTD said tennant is completely retired and no plans nor future possibilities are open
Doctor Who seems to be lost. Each season just gets more crappy. I've been watching since the 70s. I honestly can't tell you if I will even watch this new season. My expectations are so low.
@@DrWhoFanJ Oh it's most definitely you. I am going to assume you are a teenager or have some kind of autism, down syndrome or other medical/mental issue and give you a pass. @TheGeekPub agreed. Everything since Tenant has been absolute garbage.
@@DrWhoFanJ IT IS YOU. Look no further than the ratings. Doctor Who has been in the toilet since Capaldi's run. Far more people agree with OP than you. Source: IMDB, TVDB, RT, TMD.
If memory serves right, David Tennant said that the day of the doctor would be the last time he plays the doctor (or something along those lines). I feel like one of the reasons he came back was because of a favor he owed to the writer of Doctor Who, and he needed David to kind of help boost the fans back into watching the show... and also cause the new doctor was to busy with the Barbie movie. Writer had time for a few specials and needed the boost.
If they ever decide to have the 3rd Doctor show up in either flashback form or in a new multi-Doctor story, I wish that they would get Sean Pertwee to take on his father's incarnation. Also, if the 14th Doctor ever returns, I think the best way to do it would be for the 70th Anniversary in 2033 if David Tennant was still interested in returning at that point.
I'm of the opinion that the main reason Russell said what he did about all the past Doctors also bi-generating is the open the playing field for Big Finish and the like. Now they can do all the past doctor adventures they like and not needing to worry about figuring out where the stories fir in their run.
Angie watts (cant remember her actual name or dr who one) maybe she is ruby's actual mum- this is not a spoiler im still guessing. john pertwee's last acting job, was a car ad, which was only shown a few times as he died a day or two after its release, in it he disappears, but it was the family that pulled the plug. possibly ruby is the doctors daughters-child/regeneration. tenant will be back for the 70th aniversery
These videos are always too short (I promise that wasn't a short joke; I didn't think of it until it was typed). Huge thumbs-up for the Voyager T. Love it. As soon as you said "Third Doctor" and "Ruby's mother", I immediately thought Liz Shaw. But since Caroline John is sadly no longer with us, my alternative was Jo Jones (nee Grant). Katy Manning is still very much with us, and very involved. Do I really think it's her? Probably not. But it's a thought. Well done, gang. Keep us guessing.
I think 14’s life as a Noble should 100% be expanded upon. Whether it be as a big finish series or even a better a spin-off tv show. But yeah don’t just leave it when we know he has a TARDIS and is still going on adventures with Melanie, Rose N, and presumably Donna & Shaun go for a spin as well at some or maybe they don’t, we don’t know and damn it, I want to know.
Just thought i’d let you know, in the most recent radio times there is small previews for EVERY episode on season 1, i highly suggest making a video on that as there is loads to cover, by that I mean you should maybe cover all the synopsis’ not just episode 7
I think it should stay the ultimate ending of DoctorDonna. It was beautiful, it was like a real retirement and it wasn’t a saying goodbye to the companion, but a possibility to share life together… reopening this can only drag it down in my opinion. Although I think it would be cool to have people talking about them, or them appearing in a picture etc (e.g. when we have Donnas daughter on screen).
My biggest complaint so far is that out of three episodes, two of them feature singing and dancing. I can't imagine Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker belting out a show tune with full choreography. Also I don't give a shit about Ruby Tuesday's "story". Ho-hum. The show is called "Doctor Who" not "Companion".
just to see him as 14th was how that went was closure, ofc I'd love to see him again, also it's funny how he'll just be chillin while the show goes on so it's fair if they don't bring him back for a while
I was concerned before this season began but have been greatly surprised by Devil's Chord and Boom. And with Moffatt back writing and producing (even if its just as someone for Davies to bounce ideas off) feels like a great move. Now what made me post was the link to the third doctor two names come to mind that have never been touched again are Liz Shaw and Chronos. Liz's sudden leaving, and the mythological elements of The Time Monster. More than that I don't know but they would be cool threads to pull on. Finally like all doctors Tennants time is done again but as anniversaries have proven no is ever completely gone, especially the doctor, maybe not this season, or the next but someday, maybe. Like with the original 27 seasons Nicholas Courtney ended up as the elder statesman of the show, with the next 13 seasons its David Tennant with Peter Davidson standing behind him, a legacy. Just my humble opinions and thoughts.
I actually hope that Varada Sethu is a creature from outside the universe and joins the Doctor as a non-human companion who, like him, wants to learn from and explore humanity.
Regarding the Third Doctor. Just an idea - the business with Professor Thascalos. Could a certain Crystal have found its way into the UNIT vault? It might be a bit of a stretch, but RTD is pretty good at writing his way out of tight corners. I’ve been deliberately vague in case anybody does not like possible spoilers - you can always Google it, if you don’t get the reference. And as you brought up Bigeneration - I wonder if has it affected all Timelords…? 🤔
I love Doctor Who, as a child I loved the journeys & adventures because I was able to get to travel with them. As an adult with limited mobility due to MS I can join on their new adventures.
Not sure you don't already know, but ICYMI, the Church on Ruby Road Xmas speacial in the UK, has been rebranded as Episode 1 on Disney+ in USA; also the next 2 episodes are both posted for viewing in USA. So we are are at episode 3 already. Weirdly they also still show all 4 Xmas/60th specials as 1 thru 4.
This is honestly a dumb way to take it. If they're just gonna say 14 is dead, why have him Bigenerate in the first place, instead of having a standard Regeneration? No one is expecting David to show up every other episode and steal the spotlight from Ncuti, but to have him be the first Doctor to "survive" regeneration and decide you're going to do NOTHING with it, and treat him like he died anyway just feels like a waste.
Who Culture have grasped the 3rd Dr reference and started talking about “The Daemons”. I’m going out on a limb and saying we’re going back to Atlantis.. “Empire of Death” is a very Pertwee-esque title that well describes the mythological fate of the Atlantean empire. Mrs Flood’s name (but not the character itself) foreshadows (I think something in her time line changes before finale that explains her changed reaction to the tardis at xmas). RTD stated in his Alan Yentob interview the tv series had covered Atlantis fate 3 times ( so far only twice - it’s not like RTD to slip up on anorak detail but he has form for “slips” that prematurely reveal future plots) Finally Hans Dominik wrote his novel - Atlantis in.. (drum roll) 1925. Yeah 1925, again, clearly we come back to that year and the subject of gods and myths in season 2. Atlantis features a character called Johannes Harte. Harte has a hypnotic character, can influence masses and has mysterious devices that allow him to transmit energies over distances. This power seems to have been bestowed on him by higher, mystical powers and attached to rings on his hand. The novel also had fascistic overtones and subtexts. I’m thinking how episode 6 “ Rogue” the fascistic Albion party and the mysterious lead guest character segue into the finale.. and what sources RTD may be nodding to..
The obvious 3rd Doctor story that fits in with Russel's new "Gods and Monsters" mythology shift is The Daemons, because that's the one everyone remembers with Azal being one of the best looking monsters of the era and Bok being one ofthe worst. And it generally being a really well paced story for that period, when they could often really, really, drag out over 6 parts...(They showed some sense with The Daemons and kept it at a brisk 5 episodes.) But there is another story that fits in with it from the following year which has a not dissimilar plot to The Daemons, (and IS a six parter...) with the Master once again dipping into Human Mythology to unleash a Science Fiction monster that will give him "Absolute Power!!!" Of course UNIT and the Brigadier, et al, are just as involved. "The Time Monster," and since the main Maguffin of that story was the "Kronos Crystal" powered "TOMTIT" Machine, (how does Russel T Davies NOT use that name in one of his scripts, given the chance???) which the Master used to contact the High Priest of Poseidon, and drag him to the 20th Century from ancient Atlantis where they attempt to unleash Kronos, (aka the father of Zeus!) which in Sci Fi terms is the most powerful of the "Chronovores" or "Time Eaters". I'd far prefer it to be "The Daemons" as it's always been one of my favourite stories. But I wouldn't be surprised if RTD goes left field and finally does a 21st century version of the Atlantis story...
Tennant is one of a very few actors who hasn’t gotten bored or complacent about the story that made him a household name. I think that he will happily return in some form until he physically cannot anymore. Like Baker before him. I expect to see him in the 80th anniversary as his retired, aged and fulfilled doctor.
I love how much Doctor Who has re-entered conversation in the last few weeks. Between frequent reviews crossing my timeline to general hype from fans, it feels like the show is back on a track it hasn't been for nearly a decade.
a disney dr. who ride sounds interesting might consider going. Dr who is the best hero, 2 hearts and his weapon is a screwdriver. also all his incarnations are so human with complex feelings and problems. going to work on my dr. who inspired christmas cards now, feeling inspired.
Bringing 14/Donna back in any capacity would cheapen the already risky move of letting them just live their lives. They sole reason 14 came back was because his story, and Donna's, were not finished. THAT is what he came back for. To finish his story. There's no reason to bring them back after that.
I've said it before, but I would love for 14 to rest and recover and then completely regenerate into 15, who would then merge into the existing 15. He did say it was "rehab in reverse." This merger would take place before he meets Ruby even if we see it sometime in the timey wimey "future."
ELLIE! You just gave me an idea of the PERFECT Doctor Who attraction at Disney World. I'm sure you're aware of the old ride Alien Encounter, which was made into a Stitch encounter. It's a large circulation room with tows of seats surrounding a central cylindrical structure...what DOCTOR WHO set could possibly be placed in there? The TARDIS! There's a pre-show room, where it could be UNIT briefing the audience about an Invasion from Dale's or Cybermen, and suddenly, the TARDIS appears. The doors open, and a companion or recording of the Doctor beckons folks in and to take their seats (assuring them that it's bigger on the inside and thats normal), but the seats are there because ONE of us is the ancestor of the creator of the Culubermen or someone who is important to the Doctor's plan. He had to send the TARDIS through time to get them, and bring them out of time to the time vortex, where he gives a lesson on the Cyber men and why they should never be created, or to brief everyone on the plan. Meanwhile, the room shakes and such as the TARDIS travels through the time vortex and maybe gets attacked by enemy ships. Could be boarded by FDaleks and/or Cybermen, but the TARDIS has security measures and blasts them back into space. Having taken care of the threat, the Doctor takes us back to Earth in our own time and drops us off at UNIT to be debriefed and set free.
My issue with his statement that Tennant and Tate are not coming back stems from the fact that Rose Noble was seen to appear again during the season trailer. I find it odd that she would reappear, but not 14 or Donna?
I stick to my theory. The Toymaker impact on the fabric of the universe will be felt over the next 10y of the show. For the 70th specials, the current doctor will meet 14 (or his regeneration) and will put a close to that part, and to complete the task, will have to “mergenerate” - the split doctor lines becoming one again and regenerating to a new doctor.
it would be fun if at some point in ncutis run as the doctor he struggles to save earth from an alien threat and has to call davids doctor in to help save the earth similar to what happened in the 3 doctors
I'm guessing "fixed the title sequence" means they have matched the theme music to sync with the opening credits. Also a new polished up logo would look cool.
1) Sean Pertwee is a popular and recognised actor in the US. 2) Tennant can always come back at any point - even old and grey. The meta-crisis Doctor is still out there and he is aging. 3) When 15 regenerates would this also be the end of that bigeneration? Will 14 be “re-absorbed”? Or can the 14th Doctor regenerate? (Is this a method of Timelord reproduction?)
RTD: "The 14th Doctor's story has ended." Big Finish Audio: "That's what you think Russ. He's going on adventures with Rose Temple, River Song, Jacki Tyler, the Jacobi Master, and Addrick during the Time War!"
Can I say a short theory, The Fourteenth Doctor later regenerates into The Curator from Season 7's "The day of the Doctor" (Edit: I accidentally put name of the Doctor which was the episode before) Both are retired Doctors so it could make sense. I'm not necessarily the he will regenerate directly into the curator but eventually maybe... it could work.
Maybe he continues to regenerate into all of his past faces during his retirement, until he eventually becomes Tom Baker again and becomes the curator.
I agree with Ellie on the fact that 14 should come back in the far future give the new characters all the seasos before the finale bring back tennant and have a finale depending if this is ncuti's final episode or rtd final episode (yes i know if you check my channel i made a fan series of the 14th doctor linked with another but thats just my adhd i guess -_- if you havent gotton over 14's "ending" then you can pick up the story to anyone else who seems to have been so sorry to be like me he's in semi retirment and has his own tardis you can shape it to your liking thats my honest thoughts on the character of the 14th doctor yes controversial) and we all are hearing the big finish writing room writing some 14 stories? also another fact i think he could return in future is why is rose there, and not to add donna has a job at unit correct? i wont be supirsed if he reutnrs for ncuti's or rtds ending (Edit/footnote)
When do i feel tennant should return Ncuti's Frist seasonn and beyond (Bad kills the opputinty for ncuti) Ncuti's finale (Ok) Russel t davies finale (Excellent) Anything else tha comes after (depending on the space between his return) 70th Anniversey (Brilliant)
I found a TARDIS next to a Scotch distillery in Scotland when I went Scotch tasting. I think I was really drunk because I don't remember it but my camera did.
Something connected to the Third Doctor, maybe Bessie is at UNIT? Not yet connected that to Ruby's mother, but certainly an unmistakable, iconic Pertwee-era thing in the Whoniverse.
I'd like to hear Fourteen in some Big Finish stuff. Maybe keep it a bit like old Unit, in Pertee's era. Dealing with smaller localized 'space thuggery'.
A lot of people saying Ep 7 will revisit the Daemons, but I'm thinking it'll revisit the Green Death. We know this 'Triad Technologies' thing will be important to the series, and the big bad of the Green Death us a supercomputer called BOSS. In the Star Beast, the Meep says they'll tell the 'Boss' about the Doctor. And Ep 8 being 'Empire of DEATH' might be another nod? No idea how that would link into Ruby's backstory mind!
Eh... I'll believe it when I'm on my deathbed. They pull this stuff all the time to make the eventual returns feel all the more impactful. David has previously said he will always have space for DR Who and while I think that we honestly shouldn't have a 14th/15th crossover, a multi-doctor story for an anniversary is not out of the question to me. As well, to be honest, the fact that we have an 'Older' looking David Tennent in 14, does suggest that a multi-doctor event is more likely.
