I have a real soft spot for Capaldi. When you consider that he's been a Doctor Who fanboy since he was a little kid, the words... "Doctor; I let you go" are really quite poignant.

I like how some of these are a full circle. The First Doctors on screen words are a question, his last canonical words are an answer. The Eighth Doctor's first words are questioning who he is, his last words are him fully knowing who he is, a healer. And bonus, the Second Doctor starts off his life asking for something to stop and ends it asking for something to stop.

10 will always be my favorite. He's one of the reasons I got into storytelling. Everything about his final arc was amazing to me. "I can do so much more!" "I would be proud if you were my dad." "I don't wanna go..." Those three lines live rent free in my head.

I like that David Tennant's last words both times (end of season 3 and the 50th anniversary) were "I don't wanna go"

I really love the meta story of the Doctor and their regenerations, in particular new who with 9 hating himself for what he had done, 10 finally being happy with who he was in spite of all he had gone through, 11 accepting that change will always be part of his life and to embrace it, 12 learning to be true to himself while enduring the change, and 13 re-evaluating what it meant to be themselves and reaffirming who they are while continuing to grow and change

It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for!

Great video. Just a nit-pick, "Timing Malfunctions" weren't The Seventh Doctor's final words. He had a few more words after that talking about The Master, and his final words "I've got to stop...him!" then come a few seconds later.

It'll be fun if we get some Big Finish "first words" for the Ninth Doctor in the future! I like Eleven's speech the best (even though I wasn't the biggest fan of his era). It's really applicable to both Doctor Who and life in general, plus the implication that Matt Smith himself will look back on his Doctor Who days fondly. Much as I loved Twelve, his speech was brought down a little by the children thing in the middle. It's nice that it's something Peter Capaldi actually thought up, but it feels really out of place. I love the final line though--the Twelfth Doctor struggled with accepting himself as he is, and he's letting all that conflict go, wishing his next incarnation a more carefree existence. Which I'm pretty sure is the intention for Thirteen (despite consistent characterization not being the Chibnall era's strong suit).

Troughton's first and last words made me feel like I was triooing out on Ketamine. Btw kids, don't do drugs! And unlike your parents and School teachers, I'm actually going to tell you why you shouldn't, teachers and authoritative figures will usually say "Don't do drugs because you will go to prison" This is probably the worst answer you can give to an impressional teen, when a kid asks you why they shouldn't take a substance, they want a good reason not too, one that answers the question. Another huge problem is that the word 'drugs' covers a whole range of substances from paracetamol to heroin, can you see where I'm going with This? When you throw all of these different substances under the same umbrella, you're actually creating a very dangerous problem which comes into play soon after different substances begin to appear in your life. I'm going to start by answering the first question and to do that I'm going to actually answer It, you see when a kid asks why they shouldn't take something and you say "you'll go to prison" you make a huge mistake, you didn't actually answer the question, instead you deflected, this scare tactic will actually work on some people but unfortunately it won't work on a lot of them, you see our brains are fascinating things, the human mind thrives on learning, we're a very intelligent species and that desire to learn is whats pushed us to grow and evolve for as long as we've lived on the planet, now one of the main ways in which we learn something is through experience, this is where the problem with recreational drugs comes in and why it's so important that the question "Why not?" Is actually answered, like I said, humans want to learn, we need things unanswered, our minds need to know the why's and why nots in order for our body to function to the best of its abilities, we need to know what food is safe to eat so we don't poison ourselves and if we don't know these things, sooner or later our minds will try work out Why, The cool thing about experience is that humans are usually satisfied with the experience of another, so if Fred saus don't eat that mushroom because Bob ate it and now bob is dead after throwing up all day, chances are you won't eat that mushroom, There you were given the 'why not?' You were given the experience so to speak; now with the question "Why shouldn't I take this drug" being told "you will go to prison" is not the answer, it's a consequence yes, but it's not going to stop a lot of children's minds from wanting it answered This is where a lot of drug problems and deaths originate, we need the experience so that we can have a definitive answer to the question, so a lot of people will take different substances and whether or not they're conscious about this bit, they are actually trying to answer the question they asked earlier in their lives, the problem now is that they have taken the substance, this can go on several directions, unfortunately death, dependence, addiction and so on are some of the directions that can be taken, at which point it's too late. A key factor in saving the lives lost to drugs is education. We need to know the 'Why?' before we go out into the world, we should be teaching out kids how each different substance interacts with our bodies, how they affect our brains in the short term and long term, and how dependence can impact our lives, by showing the experience of others we eliminate in the majority of people the brains need for that experience as it then has It, also drugs need to stop being looked at as a whole, if you say all drugs are this, that and the other, then someone takes one that isn't dangerous, because they are fine after taking it their view on other substances will be similar "oh if that's not as bad as they said, this won't be either" We need to teach them as seperate things entirely and educate the positives and the negatives, if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have ever become dependent on Heroin, I am lucky to be alive, I've taken every thing you can think of because I wanted to know what they did, when I was a kid I asked and was told I'd go to prison, I wasn't told how these things would affect my body, I wasn't told how these things would affect my mind, I truly believe that if I knew the dark side of some of these substances then I'd have never taken them. For the fans who believe the show ended in 2017: the video starts at 0:26 Also, sorry to be a nitpick, but I would have still liked ending lines from the original run of each actor, such as William Hartnell's "Keep Warm.", Colin Baker's "Carrot Juice, Carrot Juice, Carrot Juice.", and David Tennant's Series 4 regeneration etc.

You show the 1st Doctor's re-appearance in Twice Upon a Time although his last words were obviously in The Tenth Planet. Then, you show the 2nd Doctor's last words in The War Games, but ignore his re-appearance in The Two Doctors. It should be one way or the other, but you cut cut it one way for the 1st Doctor and the other for the 2nd Doctor. There may be more inconsistencies, but that is when I quit watching.

I refuse to except the "new" retcon. My head cannon says that it's all a fever dream the 12th Doctor has as he's regenerating. 13th Doctor and onward/?backwards? never happened. Timless child a mistake. I was excited for Jodie Whittaker. Sadly everything that has happened since she became The Doctor has been a trashfire.

I love Jo Martins interpretation of the doctor but one thing I dislike is the casting of a black actor/actress of the doctor was included as part of a shock moment. The shine has been taken away it feels.
