@@NashmanNash I know I’m two months late to say this, but… 1) Yes, Dalton for 14th. 2) I actually don’t think Whitaker is to blame. I agree her run has been less entertaining than previous Doctors, but she’s only the actress so she’s following a script. If a show isn’t well directed, written, etc then even the best actors can’t save it (I reference Game of Thrones, Season 8).
When I first watched part 1 on TV, I was like "yo, the timelords aren't dead?!" Then in rassillons speech at the end I was like: For Gallifrey! "*FOR GALLIFREY!*" For Victory! "*FOR VICTORY!*" For The End. Of Time. Itself! "For the end. Of Time. Its-now holdup"
And so it came to pass that the players took their final places, making ready the events that were to come. The madman sat in his empire of dust and ashes, little knowing of the glory he would achieve, while his saviour looked upon the wilderness, in the hope of changing his inevitable fate. Far away, the idiots and fools dreamt of a shining new future - a future now doomed to never happen. As Earth rolled onwards into night, the people of that world did sleep and shiver, somehow knowing that dawn would bring only one thing… The final day!
I think it sort of works better without him actually. Rassilon acts uncharacteristically pathetic in Hell Bent, and it makes more sense for that to be because he's going through a particularly pathetic regeneration, rather than just being randomly weak all of a sudden.
@@Wolf6119 Exactly, seeing Dalton's Rassilon humiliated like that would ruin his character here. Dalton's Rassilon would've murdered the Doctor right there for all that arrogance he showed in that episode. I get he's pissed but there is no way that all the time lords would side with the Doctor. The Doctor said they were corrupt and it would have to be a lot of them for him to wipe them out otherwise the Doctor could've started a revolution to depose Rassilon.
The Doctor screwed up his mission to Skaro in Genesis of the Daleks because he was too compassionate to commit genocide against the Kaled mutants. Later in their history the Daleks developed time travel technology and were able to hold their own against Gallifreyan aggression, becoming a real threat.
his script is awesome wish some of it could mean something now and future for the Dr Rassilon even says the Trinity has arrived and everything is changing
@@OverlordMalarkey Yes, point for you there! He would also make a great Inquisitor in WH40k. This guy can make the most silly and ridiculous dialogue sound epic and profound through his sheer charisma and acting talent, thus reason why he is my favorite James Bond. He was also wonderful in Doom Patrol.
Rassilon was brought back from the Dark Tower in the Death Zone to save Gallifrey from the Daleks, and promptly re-established himself as dictator. The Time Lords went along with him because they didn't particularly want to die either. They were willing to annihilate the rest of the Universe to save their hides. Therefore the Doctor decided to end the threat posed by both Time Lords and Daleks by detonating the Moment in their faces. The Moment's operating system pointed out that slaughtering billions of terrified and helpless civilians for the genocidal plans of their ruling elite was a monstrous crime. Until he found out that he'd actually found another solution but couldn't remember doing it, the Doctor spent four hundred years wracked with guilt.
Love that, I hope the Time Lords do return one day they don’t deserve extinction at all let’s hope after the end of time and the cyber lords they can be revived and hopefully Gallifrey too because the Time Lords are an impressive humanoid race they deserve better indeed because the Doctor and Master don’t deserve to be alone anymore do they right guys if that’s okay to say please!
Rassilon's Narrations give the End of Time that truly 'Epic' Grandeur Feel to DT's Finale, which was truely awesome considering Doctor Who was raised the Stakes every season since Eccelstone. I think RTD and the Old Production Team wanted to go out on a Real Bang - and humiliate the New 'Matt Smith' Production Team, Well they did because I can never see Doctor Who Raising the Story Stakes this high ever again, because the 'New' Matt Smith Who is everything Tennants is Not.
@CymruAlteran Wait but am I correct in saying that Romana got trapped in E-Space? But then again I did read that the 8th doctor had romana as one of his companions! Mabe I should have a look!
RTD said Romana was Lady President when one of the Dalek Puppet Emperors declared war. She must have died and the Timelords resurrected Rassilon from his slumber as it was rumoured he was never dead. It wa also said he wasn't benevolent as legend had it but darker, ruthless and dictatorial. He must have been resurrected in the hope of winning the Time War.
He did. And then he blew them apart with his gauntlet. One way to win a debate. You'll notice that the rest of the High Council are fairly quiet afterwards.
@rpgfantatic actuallys its never being stated if thats the rassilon of old, or a younger vwrsion they puleld forward, or just some1 named after him...romana is in the e universe
@rpgfantatic i agree. but perhaps the timelords somehow ressurected him. like one of the timelords says people are being reborn to die again and again. with all the changing of time and space the fabric of the universe could have become weak and they could have brought rassilon back without destroying themselves. to them he is the most powerful timelord as he pretty much created them.
no. but the two timelords that covered their faces were "alike" to the weeping angels. Because the time lords are forced to hide their faces in shame, much like how the Weeping angels cover their faces so they don't look someone in the eye
@rpgfantatic I assume that The High Council of Time Lords resurrected Rassilon during the Time War and he replaced Romana as President because the Time Lords thought that Rassilon would be the perfect leader for the war. Just like The Time Lords knew the Master was the perfect warrior for the war.
I've noticed a lot of parallels between Doctor Who and James Bond. Dr Who started 1963 Bond in 1962 barely a year apart. Both were major long lasting franchises with an ever changing lead and a rotating door of female companions. In 1989 Doctor Who was cancelled and James Bond franchise almost died and it was years until another movie was made before both returned in 1996. While Doctor Who stayed off air afterwards the Bond franchise suffered from weak movies until it had a reboot in 2006 shortly after the Doctor Who reboot in 2005. Again barely a year apart. Now all we need is for the Bond franchise to die by casting a female lead and it will suffer the same fate.
4:24 wait, the Time Lords have the ability to turn beings into Weeping Angels? Is this where Chibnall got the idea to have the Doctor be transformed temporarily as a Weeping Angel?
The man's a seasoned Shakespearean actor, and whoever wrote that script knew it! Dalton was also Prince Barin in Flash Gordon. Oh, and he was also JAMES BOND 007 FFS!!!!!!!
They only did that take once or what!?!? Maybe use a cut where he's not corona-ing all over the set with his spit!!?? & this is prolly set after Star Wars timeline, cuz that Gallifreyan Senate looks hell of like the Galatic Senate!!
@jakeP2110 becuz he effing did? rassiolon created the time lords and time traveling but a thing no one created is the TARDIS. a TARDIS is a race of its own. and actually in the classic who they ressurected the master ALOT. the council had the power to give the masters 13 new regenerations so i don't see why not do it with rassilion.
Wait, so you think it is possible that, since it is never really explained where the Weeping Angels come from; and adding to that, considering Rassilon referring to the council members who voted against going to Earth as "the Weeping Angels of old", and the fact that he turned Borusa into a living statue in 'The Five Doctors', it is possible that Weeping Angels are actually petrified Time Lords? Huh. I never thought of that. It's an interesting theory.
It makes sense to be honest. Time Lords gain their abilities through exposure to the time vortex. If they are rendered into a state where they must consume potential energy from victims to survive then it makes sense. Perhaps they were made as time lord weapons during the time war. Cursing the most evil time lords to a life time of loneliness, isolation and insanity and dropping them off in Dalek headquarters. Insane creatures that can't be killed and want only to feast on energy a perfect weapon against a Dalek.
@rpgfantatic Actually Romana is the president in the non cannon big finish radio shows. However I agree with you on the Rassilon thing, he was not only dead he was actually a good time lord. I believe he was either resurrected (like the Master) and went mad, or its just another power hungry timelord using Rassilons name
If these guys, The Time Lords, are a Level 6 civilization, they would have already left their physical bodies in the dust. Unless they are keeping their bodies as a way of disciplined restraint. IDK. Seems when they are a multi-dimensional race (level 6) they would have left their physical bodies. But I would understand why they haven't already...What do you think?
Hears a crazy thought but perhaps planet earth turns out to be Galifrey and the time lords were human in origin. Hence why the Dr has spent so much time saving it and moulding the people to eventually alter the course of the Time lords by historical means. Just a crazy thought.
Russel T Davies and Steven Moffat both have confirmed that both intentionally and unintentionally she is his mother. but there so much to it that fans are able to claim she could be whoever they want her to be.
0:55 Help in the creation of the Mondasian cyberman and the cybermasters of Gallifrey, wipe out the timelords, and kiss the living shit out of the Doctor
@ITheDarkestOneI Remember though, RTD is also well known for spinning a bit of a story to tweak fans. The woman was not intended to be the Doctors mother, nor is Tim Dalton's adorably psychotic President the literal Rassilon. That's just fanwank which RTD latched onto as a cool idea.
Christmas is not a pagan holiday it is a Christian holiday Ross one get your facts straight if you're going to call it something call it a Christian holiday not a pagan holiday just because you have no faith doesn't mean anyone else doesn't creep
Christmas is indeed a Christian Holiday, but it is a holiday created as a poor attempt by the Catholic Church to spread their worship during Winter Solstice as a replacement to the pagan holidays at the time they considered heretical. A way to pat themselves on the back and steal times of celebration from pagans. A day to celebrate the birth of their savior even when their savior wasn't even born during the Winter.
Timothy Dalton James Bond nail Russell on your the madman not the master to fix the master was the madman but no your The Madman you're the crazy one you have lost your mind if you had one in the beginning are you really that diluted and you probably are I just answered my own question
