The thing is, a Timelord naturally only has 12 regenerations. The reason why River doesn't even consider that this might be The Doctor is because she knows all his faces (including David Tennant having a surprise regeneration as himself). She doesn't know that Matt's Doctor (who should have been the final one) was granted a new set of regeneration cycles by the Timelords and produced Capaldi's Doctor.
The limit on regenerations was, depending on which point in the canon you believe, either a) somehow imposed by Rassilon on all other Timelords, and only he had reserved infinite regenerations for himself. or b) a natural limit only surpassed by Rassilon, who is the only one to achieve infinite regenerations.
If you rewatch the library episodes, specifically her monologue at the end, it will all come full circle now. Well worth it in your own time or even a reaction x
For all the useless gods that never existed....no spoilers...some of us actually want to get there without all the I know it all clever arses explaining everything...did anyone do that for you or did you just watch it...? Would you have been happy if some gobshite had just been...look at me, look at me...I know - I'll spoil it for you..----- would you ?
"Was this written by a comedian?" Fun fact - before Who, Stephen Moffat has 1 writing credit for a drama series (in children's tv - 'Press Gang'). Asides 1 episode of drama, all the rest are comedies.😮 In the 50s a comic had the alien Aldebarans & it fell out of copyright into public domain. Named after the Alderbaran star. Star Trek had an Aldebaran whisky. Doctor Who has an Aldebaran Brandy. You'll note while he was playing around with the screwdriver, the Doctor secretly scanned her head.😊
3:45, previous Doctors went bananas. Tennant deemed himself above Time Laws in "Waters(?) of Mars" (Timelord Victorious). Smith, "a good man" went to full fledged war on people who hurt Amy.
This is my comfort episode of Doctor Who. I can watch it any day, all year round. The TARDIS really said "I can tell you're sad. I'm gonna drop you off so you can spend time with your wife." Capaldi and Kingston have FANTASTIC chemistry, and Capaldi gives the most husband energy out of all the Doctors we've seen her with. Twelve is the perfect Doctor for her to spend 24 years in one place with. I highly recommend watching the Silence in the Library episodes again, if not the scene where River dies and the Doctor "saves" her.
This is kind of deep doctor who lore but yes, it is possible for a human to become a time lord. In fact, not everyone on Gallifrey is a time lord. an ordinary person living on galifrey is just an advanced human until they are granted the ability to become a time lord.
"Two Christmas specials" Actor availability, business reasons. A year went by. IIRC it caused an upset at San Diego comic con in June as they were supposed to have a trailer to show but they hadn't started filming yet.😂 'Husbands of River Song' doesn't give away River will be present. Matt Lucas, probably best known for Little Britain alongside David Walliams (Alien in the motel with the minotaur) & the narrator - the little known Tom Baker.😂 "Which alphabet?" would be something the Welsh would answer. The titles have snow & jingle bells❤ Greg Davies, former teacher turned stand up comedian. Better known for being the Taskmaster (judge) in Taskmaster. He is actually that tall - he's 6'8"! Robot body is from the robots that attacked the Silurian ark.
Oh No you stopped the end a few seconds too soon as the end text changed from 'And They Both Lived Happily Ever After...' to 'And they Both Lived Happily.' so you missed the change in context but close enough. Really Fun episode with a sad but lovely ending
This episode completes the River Song story. Go back to the Silence in the Library /Forest of the Dead story. Before River sacrifices herself she brings up this exact night they spent together. In this episode she asked him why he was sad. It makes sense to her in the Forest of the Dead episode. She realised that he knew how she would die and never told her, every time he saw her.
"The Husbands of River Song" originally on my first watch i absolutely hated the episode because i thought at the time it was far too goofy and campy beyond belief but after several rewatches over the years i grew to enjoy it alot more and learnt not to take it too super seriously it was a nice little fun story.
the only thing i didnt like about this is how long it took river to realize hes the doctor, i mean i get it she doesnt know about his new face but still shes suppose to be very smart like on equal grounds with the doctor kind of smart
