I liked hearing Eccleston talking about wanting children to take him into their heart because I was that 8 year old boy. I remember sitting down and watching the first episode as it aired and being so mesmerised by it. I remember being too scared to sleep after the Unquiet Dead episode. He is my Doctor.

The Great thing about the beginning of New Who was ALL the Production Crew were Whovians. They put their hearts and Souls into every Episode.

Honestly, I think it's wise to let the ladies react to season 11 unspoiled and then it would be fair to make honest critiques. Everyone loves something different.

Tim Bernard. I agree totally. That's why I said nothing about Series 11 other than the fact it was not the same Production Team. I should say I liked and enjoyed series 11.

Eccleston need not worry. I started with Tom Baker, and John Pertwee, and I suspect like most, I loved him from his first moment on screen.

I’m 27 now, I was 10 years old when “Rose” aired in 2005 on bbc1, and you bet you bottom dollar I was always watching. This series was my first experience with doctor who and I’ve been hooked ever since. Eccleston will always be My Doctor.

I'm guessing you guys have no idea about Mark Gatiss' previous incarnation as one of the writers/actors in The League of Gentlemen, he was far more known for that than anything else in the UK. Very funny comedy if you get a chance to watch it.

Something that I think might be informative - when Paula asked whether Russell T. Davies wrote 8 episodes - the answer is, of course, yes - but it's also worth knowing that he had final re-write on every episode, so even the stories without his name on are heavily influenced by him. The most extreme example of this is The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit which although originally written by Matt Jones was almost ENTIRELY redone by RTD - the man is a legend and a genius!

I hadn't seen that Eccleston interview before - just watching it gave me a greater appreciation for the man! And although I didn't see all his run at first, and returned to Who for Tennant, I can say, as an original Tom Baker fan, that Chris did a phenomenal job and really grew on me, so he needn't have worried 😊

I don't know if you know, but Simon Callow is a Dickens expert, who has played him many times, on stage and screen, and also written a biography of him. That they got him on Dr Who was a big coup for the programme and strongly contributed to the success of that episode.

Gatiss and Cornell were in their early mid -twenties when their respective first Doctor Who novels, NIGHTSHADE and TIMEWYRM: REVELATION, were published. They're out of print now, but it you can manage to stumble upon them in a used bookshop, they might be worth looking into.

You can’t find the Christmas special runaway bride? As far as sexism...dang watch the first doctor and Barbara....she was not a sexist character! That came later and was not the case with all of them. Sarah Jane was not helpless, Barbara was not helpless, Liz was not helpless....Christopher obviously did not watch the original series
