Me too. The main gripe seems to be that the speech at the end. There’s something sexist about people dislike for it, I think. If Ten had delivered it, it would be held up as a classic scene. It’s no more moralising than some of the Third Doctor’s speeches.
It's considered as one of the worst episodes of fandom but for me I don't actually agree I'm probaly one the rare ones that actually really enjoyed this episode it felt very much like watching classic who but in a modern way and I did like the political message at the end yes it was on the nose but it was needed at the time and i thought the dregs were the scariest monsters in NuWho ever apart from the weeping angels..
"COMPUTER: Oxygen supply level one percent. You must find breathable air immediately. Oxygen supply level one percent. Immediate action is required." Whilst the screen is full of burning flames, which must require oxygen... That blew my suspension of disbelief.
This isn't my favorite episode. I enjoyed it up until the time they left to go rescue Benni, then it fell off a cliff. I agree with the message, and it did remind me a fair amount of 80s Dr Who. So those are two positives. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
