The title of this episode ironic. It actually made me sleep more.

The last scene really creeps me out and the only other thing in who that has scared me is the dolls from Smith's era so that's impressive

I don't like sand. It's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.

This episode is a freaking masterpiece but all this season is so good it kinda got forgotten

I'll say this for Mark Gatiss: he's not afraid to experiment with different styles.

I'm not going to lie... I LOVE the soundtrack to this episode. No music, just heavy electronic atmospheric bleeps and drones. Coupled with a nice and sleek sci-fi color palette, this episode feels spooky and unnerving. Now, I don't think it's a great episode (I wouldn't call it bad either). It's a pretty basic monster chase story (not that that's a bad thing). However, I find this episode enjoyable for the visuals and audio.

I literally always forget this episode ever existed

The guy with the glasses at the beginning is called Reece sheersmith and he is an actor and writer. There is a dark comedy series called inside no 9 which I think you would like. Half hr episodes that are stand alones. Reece and his writing partner Steve pemberton, play a role each in every episode, they both write all of the episodes of each series. Check them out!!! You are correct. Reece Shearsmith was in the 50th anniversary ‘An Adventure in Space and Time’. If I remember right, he portrayed the 2nd Doctor. He is one of The League of Gentlemen: a tv show, and group of writers, that also features Mark Gattis: writer of this episode.

This episode was very underrated. Everyone I've talked to or seen explain why they hate it has always misunderstood it.

I feel like this episode is over hated 🥺 I really enjoyed it.

This episode definitely has its highs.

There's something underrated about capaldi saying "Hold my hand," "Im okay." "Im not"

Fun story: I know, I´ve probably liked this episode the most when I first watched it. For once, I appreciated their try for a diiferent directing style (and I think, it actually turned out quite well), but also because I was pretty high on speed, so I did pay close attention and that ending, although I still think, it´s pretty dang creepy and probably the best part of the episode, deeply unsettled me.... xD

The most experimental episode in twelve series (the found footage, no opening titles). One of the only times the Doctor loses (Victory of the Daleks?). I don’t know why this episode is so hated.

Despite the overall hate for this episode, I really enjoy it! While I do like the episode when I rewatch it, I am biased towards it because I got to watch it early with Paul McGann and a crowd of people lol

I am so glad you enjoyed this episode. I also enjoyed quite a bit. It was very entertaining. I hope this means you'll appreciate Chibnall's era and are open-minded to it because, as you probably know by now, many people hate the decisions he has made but I have always been under the impression he has done pretty cool stuff.

i really like this episode despite the bad reviews people thought it was piggybacking on the found footage trend it could have been but it made it new the monsters were parasites that overtook the body the reason it is found footage is because it is compiled by the bad guy the doctor doesnt win because we don't see him win he did win just off screen because the bad guy got turned beforehand and couldn't record it. The sleep pods is a commentary on the capitalization of sleep and the constant need to work and get little sleep it is something that could be created in real life

One of my favourites from Capaldi's whole run, this one really struck me as unique and similar to one of those classic RTD-era stories written by Moffat.

Years ago when I first saw this, I didn't like the different change of pace and was admittedly still not over Matt so I wasn't giving really any Capaldi episode a chance. Watching it for the first time since, I really appreciate it. I'm not 100% on the ending, but its an experimental episode and its pretty cool to see a diff perspective, and it was executed quite well

One thing I really enjoy about this episode is that the villains win in the end. It's not something you see very often, but at the end of the episode the Doctor is forced to run away and the Sandmen's plan succeeds.

I watched this episode with a room full of other fans at a convention, and when the Doctor started talking about how they were eye boogers that had come to life, I couldn't deal and had to leave the room for a minute.

It might not be a popular opinion - I know this isn't a well-loo oved episode - but this is one of my all-time favourite episodes. I honestly believe that most of the people who don't like it just didn't understand it

Hate to break it to you. They never bring this back up. The person behind this episode was planning a continuation in a future episode, but the studio decided to ditch it, leaving this MASSIVE cliff-hanger that feels out of place. Shame too, cause' I actually REALLY enjoyed this episode!

One of my least favorite episode, but Capaldi and Coleman we’re still excellent as always

Also no the soldiers are not played by actors you've seen in An adventure in Space and Time, however the scientist/ sandman pretending to be him, is played by Reece Shearsmith who briefly played Patrick Troughton in An Adventure In Space and Time.

In my opinion this is the only "meh" episode in the whole season. So stoked for the next 3!

Morpheus eh, shaper and guide of Dreams and Sleep - Son of Hypnos, the Cthonian God of Sleep residing in the underworld. Yeah the Moment they said Morpheus I instantly though it had something to do with dreams and sleep shaping some sort of creature.

Coincidences, both are called Doctor. Maybe this was on someones mind when they produced this episode, in case of the song , i mean. ^^

Rasmus was in Adventure in Space and Time as Patrick Troughton. He is well known in the Uk as part of The League of Gentlemen with Mark Gattis and Steve Pemberton who played Mr Lux in Silence in the Library. You should check it out, its a dark twisted comedy. This episode personally I switched off after about 10 mins I just didnt like it myself.

I'm pleased you liked this one. I hated it when it was broadcast, and haven't warmed to it since. So it's good to see it giving evident pleasure to another viewer.

I'm still very confused about this episode. Like, why was the lab near Neptune? What's Triton? Indo-Japan? And the fact that they were always referring to the Gods? The situation of Earth in that century, which was only mentioned, was more interesting than these sleep-dust-monsters (srly??). And then the Doctor runs: does he at least prevent the video from leaking?

I know this episode got a lot of mixed reactions but I absolutely hated it. It was such a disappointment, I remember when it ended I felt like "What? Was that it? That's the episode we're getting for this week! I've got to wait a whole other week for another one?!" I know the production team intended it to be an "experimental" episode, but it was sorely-lacking so much which makes the show good (especially the music!). It's the rare time I actually miss it out completely when rewatching the entire series.
