A Doctor Who parody of the Take On Me music video by A-ha Music: Take On Me by A-ha Using footage from Doctor Who - owned by BBC and Disney+ Final animation is all my own work
i mean, 7 in a wig is clearly played by a different actor than 6, implying that an off screen regeneration had taken place, hence him lying on the floor. then, we clearly see 7 in a wig regenerating into 7 without his wig. same actor, sure, but we clearly saw the regeneration so it must be counted. therefore, 7 in a wig has to be allowed as his own incarnation, or it makes very little sense. (footnote: you could count david bradley and richard hurndell in this, but here it’s made very clear that they are meant to be 1. they have not suddenly changed actor from a result of pain, they are simply revisited as 1. and they were cast to look like hartnell. 6 on the other hand fell down in pain and drastically changed his face.)
Holy hell this is fantastic!! The details and in-jokes…Ten being split into all three David Tennant Doctors; Smith’s crack in reality becoming Capaldi’s eyebrows; Whittaker seeing the Fugitive Doctor in the mirror; Bad Wolf; Eccleston jumping through the panel becoming Ten jumping through the mirror from “Girl in the Fireplace”; Heather’s star-eye; McGann’s hair change; Sylvester’s wig…brilliant stuff. A true celebration of Doctor Who in all its forms. Thanks for this.
This is what RU-vid was made for. Not unskippable ads, not watching people watching stuff, not videos pandering to the algorithm for monetary gain. Just clever, talented people being creative. Brilliant work. Shared, liked and subbed.
Actually if you want to get technical RU-vid was originally created as a dating site that had a video hosting option so you could get to know someone through their videos to see if you'd match, people abused the video system and bam here we are... RU-vid also used to have a chat and friend request system that was removed awhile ago. Damn I'm Old
Resolved... to watch this video every time I turn my computer on, before getting on with the rest of my day. How to make the world a better place in five minute...
This was beautifully done. The Dalek exterminating the Tenth Doctor causing him to split into Meta-Crisis and Fourteen was a genius way to include all the Doctors. Keep up the great work.
FANTASTIC! This is so well done. There's some great transitions here, my personal favorite was probably the crack in time morphing into Peter Capaldi with his attack eyebrows.
What a great tribute to Doctor Who. Some really clever transitions like Colin taking off his wig to become Sylvester and Capaldi in Davros' chair morphing into Whittaker being imprisoned in the Dalek casing. Also loved that Ten met Fourteen.
In the words of The Thirteenth Doctor: “Oh, Brilliant!” The seamless transition between Doctors made for a truly cinematic experience. This was definitely a love letter to Doctor Who fans everywhere. Excellent job! An animated tour de force that leaves quite the positive impression!! To end this comment, as The Ninth Doctor would say, “Fantastic!”
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I can't stop smiling although my throat is tightened holding back tears of nostalgia. This was so well done. The transitions and the subtle nods to each era...chef's kiss. Which Doctor is my favorite Doctor? Every single one of them.
That would be telling. No I felt it was important to make every Doctor shine. I put alot of time making sure none of them looked poor, Glad to year your kind words
Idk what I was expecting when I clicked on this video but I was not expecting such a FANTASTIC work of art! I cannot imagine how long this over five minute long fully animated(!!) Doctor who tribute took to make, but every second was worth it. I applaud your commitment, talent, and creativity! This will definitely go down as one of the many videos I rewatch over and over again, and I hope this picks up so more people get to experience this masterpiece! ❤
A wonderful tribute to the Dr & Daleks. The dizzy Dalek scene was a LOT of fun to watch, as were the many flourishes - from the scarf unravelling, tripping up the SW Dalek, Curator console room and fending off Dalek beams with a brolly! What a wonderful mashup that perfectly captures the craziness of this series in a very unique way. Thank you!
I just recently finished streaming the whole Dr Who saga (so far) on the BBC Iplayer and this artwork just left me speechless. I recognised each and every regeneration, scene and loved the little comedy Easter eggs (e.g. Wigs and Doctor #2 riding the Dalek). I think the company that is recreating the lost episodes in animated form should have employed you. Thanks so much for sharing.
3:53 A113? Wait, the Dalek's from CalArts? Loved this, by the way. All the small details, like "Origin: Unknown" and "Division Interference," 2 jumping out of the frame, 6 to 7 reference of the filming conditions, 1996 to 2013 8, 10 into Metacrisis and 14 (trigeneration?), The "A-Crack Eyebrows," etc. Lovely!
One of the most creative mix-media projects that I've experienced in quite some time! And, that I know where most all the clips come from, as a fan for 40 years of Who.
3:53 Easter Egg here some may not know. A113 is a number to have appeared in several (and apparently all) of Disney Pixar's animated movies as Easter Eggs. It's a refference to the classroom number that many of the animators studied in. An amazing detail considering this video is full of Doctor Who nods and winks, and then you have a Disney Pixar one thrown in there as well.
I always like to thrown a surprise reference in. It's a nod to animated easter eggs in general, but also A113 was referenced in Flatline, which felt nice to do
That was absolutely amazing! I could see which clips of the show you've used for reference but changed in a clever way! Will definitely be worth rewatching a whole bunch of times!
David Tennant is my favorite, but I do absolutely love that you included Jodie Whitaker❤ I am one of the minority that did enjoy seeing her as the doctor. Jodie did her best with what she was given, and looked like she had fun doing it at least😊
This is incredible. As someone who has also been drawing a new version of Take On Me (A JoJo's one for SBR) this is incredible. It's amazing that some panels were minimalist in lines but I could still tell the exact moment from specific episodes that you were referencing. This might be one of my favourite things on the internet. Major Kudos. I tip my fez to you. I don't know why but Sylvester's face doing those boggly eyes was so perfect, as were Capaldi's eyes as the first thing you see of him. I may have to watch this like 50 times and enjoy every single callout to every moment you made. It's perfect.
Yeah I could have drawn it perfectly but, watching the original, I put alot of effort into making sure it WASN'T perfect intentionally. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy rewatching PS Send me yours when it's done. I'd love to see it
I was smiling so much watching this, I simply cannot express how incredible this is. There is SO much to love about this video, and it's very clear how passionate you are about the source material. Lots of little winks to incredibly niche jokes, and as an autistic person with a hyperfixation for Doctor Who, this made my day. Absolutely fantastic, thank you!
This was so cool! And the transitions between each Doctor was so cool! It's crazy that I knew where scene was from in Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant.
This feels like a love letter to Doctor Who, it all looks absolutely Fantastic! The transitions from each Doctor were all amazingly put together. Great to see amazing content from the Fandom again!
Liking the gags, 7 pulling 6 away like a disguise, 7 becoming 8 when stepping through glass, 3 bashing a dalek with Bessie, seeing the 3 Tennant Doctors. I take it you're something of a Whovian
I have no words for how fantastic this is (go on, I know you heard it in Eccleston's voice!). I was super impressed that you got both versions of McGann's Doctor as well as Hurt's War Doctor - but I was a bit surprised that with as many different appearances Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor has had, she didn't show up much beyond that moment at 4:06 in the mirror. Still, so glad she was included - rounded it out nicely (plus Cushing's poster *chef's kiss*). Maybe there should be a follow-up version with the Doctors from "The Curse of the Fatal Death." LOL
I was determined to use every Doctor I could, and yeah it was a bit sad Jo didn't do more but I had to have her do SOMETHING. Also Curse of Fatal Death was a consideration, it I were to just make it infinitely long
oh my god this was just INCREDIBLE. every single aspect of this video was just impeccable, this must have taken so long, WOW. all the familiar frames from certain episodes was so great, just a PERFECT video ❤❤
This is a fantastic piece of work,a great tribute to the iconic original Aha video, and a great reminder of all the Doctor Who's over the decades.A big thumbs up to all involved 👽
I remember the original video when it aired on MTV back in 1985. Those were the Days when MTV stood for Music Televison and aird Music Videos 24/7. What happened?
Didn't know what to expect from the video, but I love it. There's wonderful detail and lots of deep fandom in there. And it's a terrific song too. Great job.
@@Phoenix-bi9bn You're welcome. The song I'd really love to see set to Who footage is the Alan Parsons Project's "Days Are Numbers (The Traveler)." The words just lend themselves to the show.
I liked the transition from doctor three into four as he lept out of his car, as that particular vehicle nicknamed 'Bessie' was also used in the first Fourth Doctor story ROBOT, great work overall including a fleeting glimpse of the War Doctor aswell 😊
I’m so glad this showed up in my recommends today, I’ve watched it three times already. I wonder how long it took you to put this together. I love the original video, but this was such a joy to watch. I’m definitely liking this and going to watch this a dozen more times when I need a mood lifter. 😃
I may as well show my age because I have seen every episode you covered when they were 1st shown and, more age, it's refreshing to see talent & imagination instead of garbage. Thank you.
aww...all Daleks and no Cybermen or Master. still great though. loved the transitions, (Colin Baker going into Sylvester McCoy with the umbrella was totally lit!) and the appearance of Betsy for Doctors 3 and 4! With his trusty sonic screwdriver, the Doctor defends both time and space.
Well that was fucking brilliant. But jesus, how sad am I that I recognised every single shot you rotoscoped! OH OH OH! And how magnificent was it that Colin pulled off the wig to reveal Sylvester! Top notch! :)
The anamation here is so good really nice to watch love the references to the show it character movement here reminds me of the snowman animated movies keep up the good work with the animation who and whete ever you are
