I want to buy every Big Finish audio - they're so good - but unfortunately I would need a lot more money for that! Jago & Litefoot is a huge favourite.
Lizzie Standen - if I ever win a national lottery jackpot Big Finish are getting a MASSIVE order from me. So big I think Nick Briggs himself should deliver them personally to my house 😄
I'm rather partial to "Flip-Flop". I love that you can choose which half to listen to first and the story still works. Really cool little experiment that i wish they'd do again. As for Frobisher, i want him on TV. With the increased budget from the Disney+ deal, maybe they could do it as a combination of puppetry and CG like with Grogu/Baby Yoda. Maybe Robert Jezek can voice him again.
Just got into Big Finish a few days ago. So far I've listened to Holy Terror and Storm Warning and I'm going to listen to Jubilee today. I'm really loving Big Finish so far, especially the 6th Doctor. He and 8 are becoming some of my favourite doctors. I'm hoping to get into Jago and Litefoot at some point
Excellent, all three of the titles you mention are much loved releases so I'm glad you like them! on the big finish website I believe there is a free episode of Jago & Litefoot series 1 as well as a few on spotify so definitely check those out
Great video. With everything from the livestream to all these recommendations from whotubers, it’s made me want to get more Big Finish since I’ve not gotten any in a while. There’s so many to chose from which now I’ve realised is more of a blessing than a curse as you can pick and chose want you want. Also with the Frobisher stories which one takes place first? I’ve always believed it’s the Maltese Penguin then the Holy Terror but now I’m not to sure. Thanks for the video.
glad you enjoyed the video! definitely treat yourself to some big finish over the summer, perhaps further adventures of lucie miller or war master series 3 before they increase in price? I believe the maltese penguin comes first and then the holy terror with most of the sixth doctor and frobisher comics occurring before maltese
I' listening to the 8th doctor's adventures with Lucie Miller. I'm currently on "No More Lies," I loved "Blood of the Daleks" and "Horror of Glam Rock." "Phobos" and "immortal Beloved" were really cool
The Doctor Chronicles is a very good one to recommend especially Both volumes of The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles mainly for Jacob Dudman's Impersonation of Matt Smith
They started to put Bernice Summerfield (BS) in boxset starting with Epoch after 11 "seasons" of individual CDs of four/six release. It's 5 other boxsets of the main BS series after that. You could also try the "The Story So Far" volumes which I think don't have any order in them (haven't listen to them). If you look up some names like Irving Braxiatel on the wiki and read a bit of wiki entries on BS, you should honestly be fine. I try starting at the very beginning (excluding the adaptation from the novels) and it might not be what you are looking for.
you could also try the way i did a few years back and listen to "the new adventures of bernice summerfield" box sets, my first one was volume 3 & 4 within the unbound universe, then later went back and purchased volume one, i believe the new adventures as made to be a jumping on point opportunity
I will say that, as a still relatively new listener, price is a very important factor for me and I imagine it would be for most people. I believe most people watch Doctor Who without paying specifically for it, so being faced with paying 35€ for a story arc (or 140€ in cases like Doom Coalition) , no matter how good it is, will be daunting to many. Maybe you could make a recommendation video with only stories that are available on Spotify or available for purchase for 2,99€ or less? I'm going to make the bold prediction that Litefoot&Jago 1-5 would be included in that :D
I just bought the first Dark Eyes boxset for £16 through the 20th anniversary sale on BF's website. I've always wanted to get into 8's BF run, but its usually very expensive. Happy to get Dark Eyes 1 at such a low price. I hope I love as much as many others...
great choice and at a great price too! keep an eye on big finish's social media as if you enjoy dark eyes 1 the others will be on sale again eventually too! taking an educated guess i think a lot of mcgann box sets normally go on sale in November for mcganns birthday so that could happen again this year
@@thehostproductions Oh, Thats very good to know, I'll deffinitely keep an eye out for them over the next few months. Thankyou, and thanks for all your other reccomendations in your video. : )
Cybrus 16 - 8th Doctor is my favorite range. I’ve managed to almost complete my 8th Doctor collection almost exclusively through sales and pre-order discounts so keep in there, you’ll probably be able to get them all eventually.
While I've always enjoyed Colin Baker's performance in the series proper, he really is at his best with the Big Finish plays. Because of them, Paul McGann is my second favorite Doctor, close behind Jon Pertwee. There are so many amazing ones to pick from, but my favorites would have to be: Spare Parts Winter for the Adept The Emerald Tiger Project Twilight Project Lazarus Jubilee Davros The One Doctor ...And the Pirates The Apocalypse Element The Juggernauts Storm Warning The Chimes of Midnight Neverland The Horror of Glam Rock Sisters of the Flame/The Vengeance of Morbius
if your a fan of the character then its certainly worth a go! i reviewed the jenny box set when it was released for more details > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KcIXq6J1wJQ.html
1. At what point would you say someone has become an "experienced" Big Finish listener? 2. I'm a massive fan of Classic Doctor Who but haven't found my niche Could you make a few recomindations? I a disproportionate amount of Nu-Who Audios & feel guilty since I prefer watching the Classic series... For example: I've listened to: - A handful of Monthly Range releases (#51-75) (Mostly Colin & Slyvester b/c they're great in the Classic Series & I needed more) - U.N.I.T.: The Original Series - Series 1-2 - The Eighth Doctor & Lucie Miller Audios - Series 1-2 (looking forward to listening to Series 3-4) - Light at the End - The Third Doctor Adventures: Volume 5 - The War Doctor: Volume 1 (looking forward to listening to Series 2-4) - The Diary of River Song Series 1-5 - The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Series 1 (looking forward to listening to Series 3) - The First Doctor Adventures: Volume 1-3 - Missy: Series 1 - The Eighth of March: Volume 1
1. when i say "experienced listener" its kinda my shorter way of saying audio fans who have listened to quite a few audio dramas before and have a good idea of what they like, e.g. wouldn't recommend doom coalition or zagreus to a fan who has only listened to the new tenth doctor adventures as the stories a much more complex. 2. focusing on classic series stuff, i would suggest the war master series without a doubt! although i dont know if you class that as new series or classic, certainly continue the 8th doctor and lucie miller stuf when you get the chance, maybe even consider delving into the world of dark eyes or doom coalition (followed on by) ravenous, but if you dont want to dedicate yourself to that fairly large series - maybe the 8th doctor time war as there is only 3 box sets of that series so far with the 3rd due out next month. hope this helps
What a wonderful review Ben! So many great stories to start with. My first Big Finish was Return to Telos because it featured the Fourth doctor and the Cybermen with Jamie as a bonus. Really love that CD. I would recommend newcomers starting with one of their fave Doctors when getting into Big Finish. It's a great dipping in point when you have your fave friendly voice guiding you.
I recommend A Death in the Family. I’m a huge 8th doctor fan as he is the best doctor in big finish. 1-The Chimes of Midnight 2-Doom Coalition 1-The Red Lady 3-Dark Eyes 4-A Life in the Day
Great suggestions there Ben. I’d only really add Torchwood as a major suggestion. I’ve only recently gotten into Torchwood on audio but it’s very enjoyable so far 😃
thehostproductions - oooo good question. I’m actually quite partial to the ones with officer Andy as the main character. Love that Big Finish have taken this supporting character and really developed him. When he teams up with 1950s Torchwood agent Norton Folgate it’s particularly good.
