The Beatles singing 'there's always a twist at the end' and George Martin spinning with delight (the man who produced their greatest albums) is a particular low point! But what do I know, being a Who & Beatles fan from the 60's....
Did you... did you watch the show? They are meant to be bad, the power of msuic was stolen, and the beatles in the end find the lost chord @@johnmorris2414
@@johnmorris2414oh grow up, it wouldn’t matter who was running it or what was on and you’d find some reason to be pissed off, humans are idiots sometimes so I’m begging you don’t be a jack ass and just admit , 2005 is not coming back, thousands of people love this show right now so grow up
i love how they have so little confidence in the actors' resemblance to the beatles that they had to put 1963 moptop john lennon in 1970s hippie john lennon circle glasses so you can tell which is meant to be john and which is meant to be paul (nevermind the other two)
@@Kpengie not the circular ones though, I know in the late 50s-early 60s he wore buddy holly type glasses but idk if he was still wearing those by 1963. I believe the circular ones first appeared in the sgt pepper era but don't quote me on that
OK, everyone's like "oho it's SUPPOSED to be dogshit, that's the point!!!!" but nobody has summed up the actual context. I took some from an article online: The main conflict of “The Devil’s Chord” relies on the idea that in the 1920s, Maestro was released, and they absorbed so much music that the idea of music itself became less popular. This means that by 1963, we’re just watching the dying embers of music’s popularity among humankind. The Beatles and Cilla Black in this episode write and perform horrible songs, and have no real zest for the artmaking of songs at all. Everyone is embarrassed about their jobs as musicians, and all express desires to get regular careers instead. This is a fairly interesting cautionary tale about the idea that many in the world don’t consider the arts to be real work.
The greatest Beatles song ever written. So good it inspired the Pet Shop Boys to want their own dog in their hit "I Want a Dog". The Beatles were obviously honouring the classic "Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me a BowWow" in their own inimitable style.
i love this whole bit especially the last line, how its so weirdly petulant and fucks up the meter and then the song just abruptly stops. lots of great witty dialogue in Doctor Who but this is the funniest straight up gag it's ever had
This is presumably what Carnival of Light sounds like, and that's why Paul won't release it. Also, the guy playing George looks more like Paul than the guy playing Paul.
At 0:54, when Paul plays George's skeleton like a bass, he strikes the same rib in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder. Other than that, it's a pitch perfect recreation of this era of The Beatles!
I love the look The Doctor gives Ruby, he was an older man when the Beatles came about, so busy going to and fro in time and space, but now he’s here in Abbey Road studios. He never thought he’d go because there was a chance he’d run into himself in London
lmao idk how many non-Beatles fans could spot the differences but they're holding their guitars wrong, Paul should be using a pick and Lennon didn't start actually wearing his glasses until later on. During the mop-top era, he walked around "blind as a bat", even during recording.
He wore black rimmed glasses, just didn’t wear them on stage or in public. He started wearing the round rimmed glasses after starring in the movie How I won the war in late 1966. The character he played in the movie wore them.
I've seen some pretty bad versions of the Beatles on TV, but this takes the cake. You would think that if they bothered to take the time to do enough research to get the correct date, they could have done a better job than this.
@@davidpacker7602 I get that they're supposed to play badly; I'm talking about the details, like no logo on the kick drum; John wearing the wrong glasses; John & Paul having 1964 haircuts instead of 1963; Paul being chubby; Paul with his Hofner apparently strapped around his waist (?), etc.
@@mcarp555in the episode, no one has passion for music or cares about it anymore. That's why they play terribly, why they aren't holding things properly and why they don't have the logo. They don't want to do music anymore so I doubt they'd want a logo to establish their band
@@mattoryu So they have the wrong haircuts and John is wearing the wrong glasses because they don't want to do music? Note that I'm not being uber-picky by mentioning things like Paul playing a 1963 Hofner instead of the 1961 model he actually used when they recorded the _Please Please Me_ album (he didn't even have the '63 bass until October of that year). Nor did I mention that George appears to be playing a Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar, but he didn't get one until a month after recording the lp. He used his Gretsch Duo Jet instead (the one seen on the cover of his _Cloud Nine_ solo album). And neither Paul or George have their instruments plugged in. John appears to be correctly using a Gibson J-160E acoustic, however (even though it's not mic'd). I can't make out the brand of drums Ringo is playing, but it's very similar to his original Premier set he actually used. His famous Ludwig sets (he eventually had four) didn't come along until later that year. So do it either completely wrong or completely right, but don't do it half-ass.
