I think its because they are both the Doctor who were healing. 11 was the Doctor who was the one who was healing and learning to let go of the War and everything he had to do, still angry but he was learning to let go. Ncuti's Doctor is like he said hes the one who IS healed cause 14 finally went to therapy for all the trauma of the past and the Horrifying shit they went thorough as 12/13. It like the 5 stages of grief out of order 9: denial, 10: anger, 11:acceptance, 12: barging, with 13: depression with her life almost starting a new round.

27:24 I keep thinking about 15's wording there. He says, "I'm fine because you fix yourself. We're Time Lords. We're doing rehab out of order." He said it like he is somehow already benefitting from the work that 14 is going to do to fix himself. They want to build this Whoniverse thing. There are going to be spinoffs. Also, 14 has already travelled a bit since he bigenerated. He apparently took Rose to Mars and took Mel to Gilded Age New York. I am completely fine if they just leave 14 where he is. It is a wonderful happy ending. But they may also be setting up for some kind of spinoff (even if it's just the occasional movie or special) where he confronts and works through the grief and trauma of his past. Maybe by occasionally travelling for that purpose. Could be a lovely way to revisit some of the characters he went through those experiences with. Then, when he's had a life (and Tenant is done with the role), maybe he merges back into 15 or whoever the current Doctor is at the time. So they benefit from that rehab and the total consciousness of the Doctor eventually ends up back together. Could be interesting.

It also works for the reboot idea, all the baggage and trauma of 60 years stays with 14 as he works through it with some self healing and therapy, which as a result because 15 is from the future, he gets all that healing pre-set and ready to go. It allows new international viewers to watch without having to NEED 60 years of stories worth of lore. So if a viewer wants they can stop and retire with 14 or go on and continue with 15. It also parallels real life a little, RTD left when he did because of his sick and disabled husband, who needed alot of care and he didn't want to go but did because his husband needed him, Tennant left with him because they were a pair of friends. RTD loves the show still and I think part of him had the Bi-generation because it is like if he had stayed and his husband was still alive too.

hardly, I've noticed woke people and members who subscribe to "the message" in reaction videos tend to love it where as heterosexual and people who actually think for themselves and dont wear fanboy glasses can see how God awful the show has become. And then you got RTD saying "a heterosexual man can NEVER play a gay person." Oh and btw Tennant is straight, playing a gay Doctor. Hypocrite, thy name is RTD

B) Definitely think for myself...and make my living doing so. Writer, editor, researcher. C), fanboy glasses never fit well. You dismiss all of us who fail to see this like you, and assume you're right--it's Godawful--instead of realizing that "good" is a pretty subjective analysis, and "Godawful" even more subjective. Enough people--ordinary, heterosexual, independent-minded people like me--like it to suggest it's not just a matter of brainwashed thinking. It's people enjoying different directions, that's all.

@chazo1367
@chazo1367 9 месяцев назад
It's set up so that if the viewers who hate it want, they can leave and "retire" like 14 does, whilst people who are happy continue with 15. Basically the reboot is the best of both worlds. They don't want to require 60 years of knowledge for international viewers to catch up with for the new series so this way all the baggage is wrapped up with 14 and 15 from the future as a result is all fixed up and basically becomes the fun loving Doctor from the very old days.

When I discovered Doctor Who for the first time, rifling through a character guide in a bookstore, one of the first characters that caught my eye was the Celestial Toymaker, and while other enemies got reintroduced in the modern era, I wondered when would be his turn. Finally, he is here, and he's spectacular! The Spice Girls dance was my favourite scene, I was like " I know it's a dramatic moment where the villain demonstrates his power, but I can't stop clapping to the rythm". Also, I CAN'T BELIEVE I didn't make a Doctor Horrible connection, but in my defense, I never watched the full video, only some of the songs. ADDENDUM: I also liked how the Doctor faced TM and told him "how are you so small?". It's both an "up yours, mate" moment and the go-to approach of the Doc to most of his enemies, from the Sycorax to the Master: "you don't have to do this, we can find another way", then the scoff from the baddie, then our favorite Time Lord reminding everyone why so many planets, especially Earth, have not become space dust: because the Doctor was there.

It’s crazy how 10/14 went from having the most tragic life to possibly the best possible and happiest one of all of the Doctor’s incarnations. Definitely reframes his first “I don’t wanna go” regeneration scene. Not mad at all. It’s also interesting how ten years ago in the 50th special, he was the young and naive one compared to 11, now he makes 11 look like a baby in comparison having been through three whole lifetimes before his return.

The way I understand it is that eventually 14 (or "Doctor Noble" as I have decided to call him because as happy as I am to have tennant back I dont think he should get 2 numbers lol) will regenerate again and be pulled back into the bigeneration. It's not a duplication, it's just like... timey wimey therapy so that RTD doesn't have to rehash the doctor being super traumatised in his second era. Which is fair enough, giving the Doctor time war trauma was his big innovation back in 2005 and just doing it over again would be a bit old hat.

The Doctor can't save Adric because it is part of an integral fixed point in time (The Cretacous extinction event) which he is forbidden to interfere with. It is clearly an important event in the Doctor's life as it is referenced a fair bit, most recently in the 2022 'The Power of the Doctor' special episode.

That's exactly what happened at the end of the movie. A gloved hand picked it up then a ding came from the bling ring that used to belong to Ming followed by the sound of someone, presumably Ming (although the guy who played Klytus said it was him as he was supposed to be the bad guy in a potential sequel, any day now...) laughing in a somewhat maniacal fashion.

Loved your reaction! Just the dose of positivity I needed. I adored this special! Adam, I know exactly what you mean that Doctor Who is back. I haven't been this excited, happy, and emotional about Doctor Who in a long time. These three specials were everything I've been missing...proper scary, creepy, zany, touching, and just plain FUN! Honestly, I'm struggling to understand why some are having so much trouble with the bi-generation idea. I think for a show to last 60 years and beyond it has to keep reinventing itself and being surprising. And I mean, it's sci-fi, a particularly wacky breed of sci-fi at that. Anything goes. I thought the bi-generation was perfect, a brilliant way to soft reboot the show. I friggin love that 14 gets a beautiful happy ending and finally gets to rest and have a family and 15 gets a fresh new beginning healed from all that trauma. Speaking of 15, I'm in love already. The last time I took to a Doctor so quickly was David Tennant's first appearance. I am so excited for the Christmas special and Ncuti's first season!

I feel like I'm the only one who noticed that Donna said she taught Rose how to play the recorder "until she said 'this isn't who I am'." and connected that to the second Doctor who I believed had a recorder, and that was during the time Rose had the meta crisis locked away inside her so she was remembering the Doctor and Donna's experiences subconsciously, and it wasn't until it was unlocked that Rose finally figured out who she was and was finally herself. Rose deciding to try the recorder was her trying to figure out what type of doctor she was.

So the Toymaker was an nearly omnipotent being (smiling guy in the hat it cut to for a second) who interacts with the universe through games. Games he almost always wins cause he rigs it so wining will kill you anyway. The First Doctor (The GOAT Doctor) was pulled into his game and played chess for possession of the Tardis, while companions of the era Ben and Polly had to play a life sized board game, with life or death consequences. Important to note the Toymaker doesn't touch the pieces he just tells them to move. While getting to the point he's going to win the Doctor realizes if he wins the pocket universe they are in will vanish with everything in it including them. He tricks the Toymaker saying he has to let Ben and Polly go cause they won their game and he will set the Tardis to take them away before he makes his last move. Once inside he imitates the Toymaker's voice and makes the last move remotely, de-materializing the Tardis as the pocket universe collapses and ejects the Toymaker out of the Universe for a time. Many of the things he does here are things done with less budget in 1965. Flawed copies of people, controlling people with puppet strings, and that goddamn 'please punch me' grin. And of coarse toys, so many toys.

Eventually 14 will regenerate in the traditional sense into 15. He will be healed by that time and the timeline will be healed too. The 2 Tardis’ will also probably recombine. This also opens up for 14 and Donna to pop up in possible spinoffs. The new concept is no different to the concept of regeneration back 57+ years ago. Mind boggling at first but quickly accepted.

I like to think of these specials as a soft reset. 60 years is a long time and as the series went on, it got progressively and progressively dark. While there is always an ere of darkness to Who, it lost some of that sense of wonder and adventure. I will be honest when I say I stopped watching midway through Capaldi and never saw Whitaker. The show felt it was missing something. With the surprise regeneration into Tenant again I was intrigued and not in the slightest disappointed. Ncuti has such a fun energy and sense of wonder that earlier Doctor's had and I will be interested in seeing where they take this.

Bigeneration isn't really that big of an issue when you think about it. The Doctor said himself last episode that using the salt at the edge of reality would let in superstitions and myths into reality, which is why Toymaker was able to use our universe as his playground instead of the usual domain that Fourteen mentions this episode, and they did also say bigeneration itself was supposed to be a myth. And it isn't actually splitting things into multiples, Fifteen says multiple times this episode that they're just doing rehab out of order. Once Fourteen is done resting sometime in the future, he'll snap right back to this moment and begin again from here as Fifteen. That's why he says what he says when he first appears, and why he's mentally well-adjusted. And yeah, in a BTS thing Russell T Davies said that he liked the idea of every single regeneration having been bigeneration, but he very clearly wasn't saying that as explicit canon, just as an idea he liked that would give each other Doctor their own timeline. And that was already essentially true before this episode. Doing it exactly like this ever again would definitely cheapen things
@csk7769

not just the Toymaker and the bigeneration, I wonder if the goblins in the christmas special might in some way also be a result of superstition becoming real

Yeah he's never really gone anywhere but especially the Chris Chibnall years it didn't feel like they were heading towards something or that they had any kind of overall plan which made Jodie seem inconsequential when she absolutely should not have been. When Moffat took over there was a sense of momentum right from the start. They were heading for something big. Chibnall kind of felt like he was just killing time. The timeless child is the only thing I'll ever remember from those years. Now back with RTD we've already got two bad guys that seem like they'll come back. Unless The Meep and The Toymaker are somehow working together. There's an energy that hasn't been around for awhile and it seems to indicate that we're in for some fun times. I can't wait.
