The way they pushed it in the episode was really over the top though, like Rose asking the Doctor if she assumed the Meep's identity, like come on.

I have to agree, (Im trans, yk i hate having to say it but it helps with perspective ig) I dont like the message of "oh male presenting people are dumb" like.... what? so for example: trans men become lesser just because they wanna be themselves?

@@AussieGamer-jd6qd It's the new way of the world now, being a man = bad, and they wonder why suicide rates in men so high. I have literally no problems with a trans character, but I've yet to see an actual good one. Why is Rose's identity important? The way to get people to accept trans people is by acting like it's not a big deal, by making it so much of one and having stupid lines like 'did you just assume it's identity' that's only going to make people hate trans characters even more. Having a character be trans should be more than having their identity be their only character trait. It's a shame, because I thought some of the lines between Donna and her mum in the kitchen were quite good when talking about how they should speak to Rose.

@@ItsAv3rageGamer That's a perfectly logical question to ask. The Beep is an alien. Why would you assume their species even has biological sexes? And Rose is trans, so she would think about this.

​​@@TheNoybusiness Very true, but the wording could have been tweaked to sound more natural, like a quick aside of "It might not be a 'he'." As it was played, it felt like an unironic "Did you just assume my gender?" That said, I'm glad to see more trans rep in _Doctor Who,_ and this is just a nitpick in an episode I otherwise loved.

I mean we don't know if it's gonna stay the same for hte 15th doctor right ? so we might get this interior for only 3 episodes but it would be weird if they bothered to create it just for those 3 specials lol

@@ItsAv3rageGamer no one's seen next season. Rtd is back. Chibnal is gone. I have faith Dr who will be good again. Just wish Jodie got rtd instead of the worst showrunner we've had

@@MiamiCerealBased on RTD's first episode back I'm not hopeful, and I loved RTD and enjoyed his era of the show more than anyone else's. Tenannt was my favourite doctor too and I really struggled with it. The preachiness was just far too much.

Sadly Russell can't write endings. My biggest problem with this episode, the gender politics aside (which broadly I was fine with but was clumsy here) was that the Meep's ship rips up streets and destroys stuff, and then when it's disabled, everything rolls back exactly as it was. Russell loves big showpieces, but never knows what to do when he's blown a lot of stuff up.

@@thesimpsons17 Sure, it's not like he's bringing back a character from the era of the First Doctor. Or Kate Stewart. And of course he invented Sarah Jane and that's why he celebrated her so much, oh wait...

@@thesimpsons17 I mean, there’s the new but classic Tardis, the Sonic Screwdriver that is a mix of a bunch of old ones, and Beep The Meep is a monster from an old Doctor Who comic strip, and we already know the last of the three specials will focus on The Celestial Toymaker, so really I think this one really only seemed to focus on RTD’s era, cause it was reintroducing Donna, and 10’s face (which they only did cause Ncuti Gatwa was busy filming Barbie, and they knew bringing 10 and Donna back would get a lot of people back into the show.) Basically I’m sayin I’ve got faith in them until the end of the last 60th special.

I thought she sounded like Dobby at times.

The music is great, but there’s some kind of deep vocal sound mixed in that’s throwing me off. It’s the same feeling I get with ASMR; never been a fan of it

​@@benjamindavis4974The Meep looked like a mix of a practical puppet with cgi embellishments that got ramped up a touch with the heel turn. Kinda like Vecna from Stranger Things.

I like the new sonic. Considering how long it takes to create those force fields I don't think it's too overpowered.

@@RJA true but honestly, like I said, why not just make a new device, have it smashed mid story so it can't be used again. Or how about have it so generating the sheilds drains the sonic.

I like the sonic have a UI screen projection. It makes it feel more like a gadget and may show some cool scenes of the Doctor having to quickly look over something like he did in this

This is the issue, I could care less if a character is trans or not, but as usual they can't have a trans character that is anything other than just a trans character, Rose has quite literally 0 character traits outside of her identity, the line about the doctor 'assuming the identity' of the meep made me want to turn off.

I'm trans/nonbinary myself, the binary nonbinary line felt, confusingly written? Like, it's not very clear what the intention of that specific line is meant to mean. Anyway aside from that and like one other line, I loved the episode
