Dr. Zhivago was the first movie I saw after my marriage! I got carried away with the music and learnt to sing it! since then till today I am able to sing the song! I am now 76 years old and my husband has expired !But whenever I sing this song I can feel him around me!
I was born in 1965 - the year of release of this movie. After rolling down through so many years, the movie & its signature tune - Lara's theme are still so romantic,so painful & so much haunting, that words can hardly express the feelings existing deep inside the soul.
My mom gave me a jewelry box this was song playing.she is passed now 💔😰I still have it. I love you Mom, were dancing to this, Thank you being the best mom in the universe. Rest In Peace, until I see you again. 🎶🎶🎶🎶
So glad I saw is when the Movie was released so many years ago. Have loved Lara’s Theme ever since. The movie is just wonderfully beautiful and I watch it on DVD often.
I have watched it for 40 years and I am 50 now. Every time I watch it I learn something new. It is particularly important now with what Russia is doing in the Ukraine. In the scene where the lady runs by the train and jumps on after throwing her baby on board first, the actor in real life fell under the rain and had both legs almost severed.

My late wife and l went to see the film we fell in love with the theme and all ways called it our song,we were married in 1968,it breaks my heart to listen to it but I do. David and Margaret Hart
Your story is touching and amazing. I also heard this melody while watching a movie many years ago, and it has been playing in me ever since. When I had the opportunity, I created a music video for this tune. You might like him. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2lwOGKbVKwI.html
This movie presents the reality of life as crude and rude as it is. No fantasies no nice guys no happy endings. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life. I ignored it when I was young because I thought it was too old to be watched. How wrong was I. Some stores have no age no time. It has really touched me deep. Happiness could be found in something so small as a hug or a kiss of the soulmate.
My dad was born in southern Russia. A German Mennonite and he watched Russia being taken over by the communists as a young boy. He says so much of it was exactly how it was. He hated the color red for the cruelty it represented. They moved to Canada in the 1920’s. Thats what I remember, the beauty but the horrors of that era. Said it had to be filmed elsewhere as the Russian government wouldn’t allow it there. A very sad, horrible era. And still is, in Russia, Ukraine and over the rest of the world. And I will NEVER vote for anyone who admires communist ideals.
Yes a brilliant film, but then Lean was a genius... even the way he encouraged Jarre to compose the theme song. Largely shot in Spain during a scorching summer, incredible.
To be loved so deeply by two women..this is what love is where all to care about is the happiness and safety of the one you love. Both women were devoted and even sadder is that he loved them both so much.
The most beautiful, sweeping music ever ... This is for my sister, who passed away 6 months ago, after a 4.5 years battler against cancer. We will meet again.
This film is based on Nobel prize winner Boris Pasternak' s novel Dr.Zhivago. Lara, in fact was based on a real life character.Olga Ivinskaya- the inspiration for the character of Lara in Doctor Zhivago- was Boris Pasternak's mistress during the turbulent decade and a half that ended with his death in 1960. She was imprisoned in a Labour camp, twice during Staln' era for having associated with Pasternak. Olga had written her memoirs in later years: A CAPTIVE OF TIME- My Years with PASTERNAK- Olga Ivinskaya- Pub: Collins/Harvill London 1978
@@caroltaylor3485 Oh geez. Hos are always being exalted. The suffering, devoted wives and mothers are ignored. Too many people equate beauty and youth with purity, goodness, with being desirable. At least women today are better educated and employed, by choice. The message by Harrison Butker that women should stay home and have babies is a dangerous one. It should be a woman's choice.
I was in the 7th grade when this movie came out. My best friend’s mom took us to see it & I’ve loved it ever since. For 7th graders, it was a little over our heads, but it was beautiful. So sad. It remains in my top 3 movies of all time.
It seems to be that you are about 66 year old. I understand how you feel because I have seen this movie when I was in the 7th grade or 8th grade. Original sound track of this movie is so sad and beautiful I'll never forget this music.
My dad loved this music, and kept listening to it ,today when he is no more ,I miss him so much ...I hardly spent enough time with him ...Dad I wish you were here .. ❤️
One of the greatest love novels/films I’ve ever watched, it’s extraordinary and brings out so many emotions I have not seen in a long time when watching a movie. The ending especially breaks my heart seeing him die trying to run to the love of his life. I just like to imagine what would have happened if they had met the first time they saw each other back on that train in Moscow all the way at the beginning.
Such a joyous and yearning tune. I connected with Sharif's portrayal of Zhivago as he felt inspired to write when observing the natural beauty of the world. My drawings, writings ect., usualy come by this way.
I didn't care about movies or anything except having fun. My dear Mother had read it and taught me how to enjoy a historical book and movie. The theme is probably the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Thank you 😊
This movie comes from a time of British-made epics based on literature and history (including other such greats as Romeo and Juliet, and A Man for All Seasons, to name but two). Thank God for DVDs and RU-vid, as these will live forever!
Love this song…my grandparents gave me a jewelry box that played this song, still have the jewelry box. When my husband and I got married, I walked up the aisle to this song…
IMO possibly the finest movie ever made-- I was so moved by the cinematography, music, the storyline, and supurb acting that I read the book and many years later named my first child after Julie Christies' character (Lara) or as the book refers: "Larisa".
Always lovede this movie. Making My first step inside russia right outside the station a group of 4 violinists played played this vals. It made me cry.
Dr. Zhivago undoubtedly a great creation of Boris Pasternak and I am really fortunate to view it in film. An eternal film. Salute to David Lean. And grateful to my favourite Omar Sharif and Julie Christe. Lara's theme is great, great and great.
this scene as from 0:14 is one of the best scene ever in a romantic film..she played a real russian beauty..her smile and Omar Sharif was at his best too.. i would pick this film instead of Gone with the wind..( sorry )
The film is beautiful. I saw him many, many years ago. Since then, the theme of Lara has been constantly playing in me. As soon as I had the opportunity, I performed a video for this music ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2lwOGKbVKwI.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZHZOXgS9ON0.html
Dime Lara, cuándo vas a a volver... Saludos desde Montería, Córdoba, Colombia. @marcosyepesoficial
@@DB-47 Thank you, he went to art college and said he would write and wanted me to go and share a flat with him. I never heard from him so thought he had dumped me. However I found out that John had written to me both at my mum's address and my grandma's where I was living when we last went out together. Evidently he wrote several times but my mum and grandma did not think he was right for me so burnt his letters. This was several years after he wrote. I was devasted and still miss him.
Julia Gribble Very sad to hear, your family blocked without proper explaining letters and jeopardized chanace to build up relationship. Handwritten (love) letter has its uniqie charm and I value it a lot when I get one :) By the way those Russian tracks and compositions are mostly very emotional and can drive sensual or melancholical person crazy like this Dr. Zhivago theme. Russian langauge is also like many slavic (especially eastern) langauges very melodical and makes classic or orchestral music very pleasant to ears.
@@DB-47 they are precious and it should have been mine and John's choice not other peoples but such is life. I didnt find out till years afterwards though. Thank you for your kind words greatly appreciated

First watched the movie when I was a teenager (am now 62), not understanding how painful and sweet Love could be, while you had a legal wife awaiting and thinking of you at all times, elsewhere.
When it comes to this movie, I used to recall the moment I play lala's theme on piano. How attractive the music was...It caught my music ears.Since that, the music has been my favorite movie theme tune.
I see some of these timeless classics, and musicals from a bygone era. An era when epic masterpieces were filmed and well received by the adoring public, myself included. Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Sound of Music, Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others. I cannot think of any movies that compare to the superb quality and originality of those films. Many great films have been made since then but these older movies for me anyway, were the best.
