Welcome back to Lightning Springs Ranch. This week we are taking the horses and packing our camp into the high country. Today we have a hiefer that needs some medicine so we need to rope her.

Your Dad showed that he is an experienced horseman! As his horse acted up, he kept his horse's head turned. As you know, this keeps the horse's hind quarters disengaged. Smart man working his horse properly to avoid a wreck! Folks watching this video can learn from your Dad's actions. Great video.

He has definitely been in a few hairy situations over the years haha. We will make sure to pass on your kind words to him! Thank you for watching!

“What do you want to do when you grow up? Surely you’ll want a profession somewhere local where you’ll see all the people you went to school with!” My honest response:

I’ve saddled my fair share of horses. I noticed the guy in the beginning of the video put the pad towards the hip and slid it forward to the withers and put on the saddle on. That must’ve been very uncomfortable for the horse
@SoxnCC
@SoxnCC 5 месяцев назад
Its actually a great method for training. Or just to adapt to. Horses are very sensitive around their hinds, so dragging that pad up tells them that you are present and they should be aware . Also, how would it be uncomfortable??

Oh how I'd love to work this job haha unfortunately in ky part of Texas we don't really herd them and take them anywhere like mountains or any other far place, just other pastures!

Your shots need to be in the neck for cattle dude that's ridiculous. Also when that same calf got up at 6:53, your man on the horse needs to let go of his rope and you need to KEEP PULLING THE ROPE, the loop will get big enough to come off. This is basic stuff you're going to have to learn. I can tell you're new to this based on the way you walked to that calf at 6:02 you should've seen that coming. You need to go work on some big operations that have seasoned hands who can teach you some things. Also as a personal preference thing, if ya'll are catching but then losing your ropes, you either need to get a longer rope or put rubber on the horn, and either way you need to practice dallying.

No matter what y'all shouldn't ever leave the kids by there selfs in bear country the bear could have been just waiting in a tree by those kids on the hill but that's just me
