Another Excellent Video! Thanks Doc! You remind me of my Dad. I might be biased but he was the best physician I have ever known. Now I can say there is another and it is You. Educating a doctor is normally an exercise in futility. It has been my experience that many actually believe that M.D. is an abbreviation of "medical deity." Have you ever read Diabetes Solution by Dr. Bernstein? He did provide some very useful information but still is mired in mainstream medicine. Good book though. I tried to get my M.D. in Virginia to read the book but he would not. All of the R.N.s in his office read it so I gave it to them. I no longer use M.D.s. I do have some health challenges but will treat myself. I grew up in a medical family. My access to medical texts was excellent throughout my life. I read them all in my Dad's library. I noticed lots of differences between his medical texts(med school late 1930's) and his father's texts (med school 1900). My Dad was a "country GP" after WWII giving up a surgical residency at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Again..... Doc your videos are excellent and I hope you keep on teaching viewers how to take control of their own health.
They say that God was wandering around Heaven acting rather strangely. Saint Peter got concerned and summoned up the spirit of Sigmund Freud to see if he could figure out the problem. God and Dr. Freud go into a room and talk. After several days, Dr. Freud comes out, looking concerned, and Saint Peter rushes up to him. "Dr. Freud! What's wrong? Do you have a diagnosis?" Freud strokes his beard, and says, "It's a very serious case. He thinks he's a doctor!" (I hasten to add that this is in no way aimed at Dr. Berry.)
Dr. Bernstein helped me 5 years ago from his book. He's not mired in mainstream medicine. He's the best thing that's happened to diabetics and he's living proof. I think Dr. Berry is great and there are other Dr.s as well. Dr. Bozworth,Dr. Fung and others. Not many but a few.
A lot of doctors when you say I saw this on google or You Tube give you an eye roll and it goes downhill from there. Cardiologists and new doctors are some of the worst.
Bariatric surgery works by decreasing the amount of food stimulation of the upper small intestine, not by decreasing intake, its a hormonal effect not caloric
Excellent video?? He offered ZERO advice. 12 minutes of Fatty Pancreas is bad, Fatty Pancreas is bad, Fatty Pancreas is bad. Jesus, some people are easily impressed.
this guy is single handedly saving my life. started 2 months ago type 2 diabetic 175 glucose , already on metformin. insulin resistance climbing. now - lost 40 pounds , glucose dropped down to 90. getting off meds, no longer hungry. intermittent fasting up to 18 hours a breeze. big thumbs up!!!!!
@@joveehekmatara675 Keto , I eat meat , pork , fish , chicken , lamb , etc. dark leafy greens , feta cheese , onion , garlic , butter , olive oil , avocados , cucumber. NO SUGAR , NO PASTA , NO BREAD , NO PIZZA. along with no rice , basically along with eating 2 meals a day within a 8-9 hour window , and reasonable size portions. Thing is , once you get into ketosis , which takes about 4 days. you have no real desire to eat large portions.
@@rangur1 That is so true. I used to have no trouble eating a 16oz ribeye on top of potatoes, wine and other carbs. Today after just one week on keto, I was only able to eat half the ribeye and half an avocado for dinner. Lunch was only one chile relleno. Total calories for the day must be under 1000. I worry I am not able to eat enough.

My father had trouble digesting fats. He would be sick or throw up. Dr. Couldnt find anything wrong for years until they opened him up .and he had cancer in his pancreas. Could that have started by fatty pancreas? He sure loved fatty foods until he couldnt .
My dad at 70, so healthy, own teeth, 100% Mobile, had great engery. Started w a physical, told had diabetes?? Wrong diagnosis he died 3 months later of a pancreatic cancer of course this was a military Hospital Wilford Hall and he got lousy lousy treatment. So much for our lifetime military and more veterans the government still feels their dispensable.
Wow doc...i was recently in the hospital for pancreatitis and fatty liver. Your 12 min video is spot on with the doctors said. I've change my diet and hope to get back to a healthy me. Thanks for caring
Hi there I had an ERCP with sphincterotomy to remove a stone from my bile duct post gallbladder removal. Close to a month now, i have pain still and US says I have heterogeneous pancreas with fatty infiltration and fatty infiltration in the liver. How can I treat it please? I have pain on a regular and when I eat even more. I am a 36 yearly old female, I weigh 107lbs. I dont est fats/sugar etc. don’t know why the constant pain. Lipase 72/60 and amylase ok. Ast/alt now in normal range
I am a massage therapist and see so many people over weight and have diabetes. I cannot wait to educate my clients! My dad sadly won’t listen to me tho.....
Everything you are taking about, has happened to me. I’m doing better after a stay in the hospital for pancreatitis. Now 16 days later, I have lost 22 pounds. Sugar is down to 108, bp 110/80, and I’m feeling better. Doing strict Keto for 8 hours, 16 hours of intermittent fasting. Stopped all alcohol and am getting high on life at 57.
I was having nausea and upper right quadrant stabbing pains off and on about 8 weeks ago. My labs all looked fine except for one slightly elevated liver enzyme. My doc finally ordered a CT and the only thing they could find was fatty liver of one lobe? I think. Now the doc never told me this mind you. I had to log onto My Chart to see the radiologists report. No follow-up even from the doc. The report even says something to the effect of the "upper quadrant pain is not attributable to the fatty liver?" and i was like, well i'm pretty sure it is. It just so happens that the same doc who never follows up actually referred me to the metabolic clinic at their facilities because of their lifestyle program. I joined it a week later. Within about 2 weeks all my pain disappeared. Now of course i can't say for sure, but I'm convinced the fatty liver is starting to heal itself already. The only thing i'm grateful to that doc for is referring me to the clinic. i truly believe it saved my life. They put me on a keto plan and i haven't looked back. 7th week now and 25 pounds gone, no more pain.... sorry for the long post. i haven't really shared it with anyone else lol
You may want to look more into this. My wife had this very same thing happen to her. The first time it took months before the pain returned and then got more frequent. Usually she would get the worsted pains and nausea at bedtime. The last time it happened they finally found she had huge gallstones. After gallbladder removal she is 100% again. Good luck
I was diagnosed with NAFLD and ask my doctor to check my pancreas too, for I've been still really sick. He told me not to worry about the pancreas, but work on the liver disease. I showed this video and he had a dumbfounded look on his face. He scheduled the ultrasound and my pancreas end up being NAFPD and was worst off then my liver. My problem is the specialist or the doctors don't know how to treat it. I thank God that I came across your videos. It gives me hope when my doctors tell me that I'm screwed. Please do more videos on this, you're awesome!
Dr. Berry, I've been binge-watching your videos, just want to thank you for being willing to tell us the truth and offer suggestions to deal with it. I wish it had not taken me 73 years to learn all this "stuff" but it's never to late!
Hope it's not to late...I am 68 and no gallbladder....fatty liver for 7 years. I am sure more than that. Now my bilirubin is higher....scared it might be to late.....stage 3 ckd also😩
My MD needs to watch this! I have fatty liver and my MD brushed if off as no big deal. I think doctors need to wake up and get re-educated about this subject.
So I've had fatty pancreas for DECADES and was never told. When they told me that I had a fatty liver a few years ago, it was told to me in a "by-the-way" attitude. UGH!
Friend of mine passed recently because her liver developed cancer while awaiting treatment *in hospital!* no one ever mentioned half of this to her! Truth to tell, I swear her medical team twiddled their thumbs while waiting for her to either heal or die. For five years!
I sent you a recipe for bagels via your office email. Just wondering if you got it. No grain, pretty darn good, makes sandwiches possible. Love your videos, I've been grain-free, sugar-free 5 years....70 years old, several ailments gone, off ALL medication. I'll never eat that stuff again. Thanks for your videos and please, keep them coming.
It would gave have been great if u could share the recipe... hope & wish; u keep going for 1000 more years with all your beloved around you... cheers....!!!
Hi sue I would love the recipe I need all the help I can get ... I also have a fatty liver and it's been hard to change my diet, since I crave everything I am NOT supposed to eat, which is how I got here to begin with .... thank u for any recipes and advise ... Bless u Maddy
Love the blunt way you put things out there bc most doctors don't talk about these things, either they don't know enough or don't care. Also bc most people take things seriously when it's put on their face. It made me wake up more as l have fatty liver condition.
Thanks Dr. Barry for your straight forward no pulled punches approach to informing the world of your reseach findings and your no nonsense attitude. I have been a believer in keto dieting for 25 years but fell back into the comfort of being one of the crowd of uninformed people. But awareness DEMANDS change and I crossed over today. I have fatty liver and probably fatty pancreas too. Thanks for the wake up call! I begin again today thanks to you! Eating for long life, Terri
I had a pain on my right side just under my ribs, My doctor gave me statins and metformin after six months the pain was only slightly better so she sent me for an ultrasound. The results came back as an enlarged fatty liver. She said there was nothing more she could do it was because of the diabetes. I started doing my own research and found you in my search and much you said made sense to me. I am now on the carnivore diet. I intermittent fast 20/4. I eat once a day. I have lost 15 kilos my blood sugar is almost back to normal and no more pain in my liver. I think you saved my life. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Berry. I have learned more from you than any Dr. I have ever known. No one has ever clearly explained any of this stuff. Now I can not only know what is going on with my body, but how to fix it too! I'm so grateful for you. Keep up doing what you do please.
Dr. Berry could you please talk about the pancreatic cancer, how it's linked with diabetes and what one should do after having this diagnosis. Thanks so much, really appreciate what you're doing
As a person who has idiopathic chronic pancreatitis (possible gallbladder surgery issue, first pancreatitis attack was after emergency surgery after I gave birth constant GB attacks during pregnancy - ouch!), I can only imagine how painful fatty pancreas could be. The pancreas is a sensitive organ and doesn't like to be aggravated.
Thank you so very much. I was having horrible pain in the middle left under the left rib cage. It would happen after I would eat large amounts of sugar or anything that had high fructose corn syrup in it. It was a throbbing aching pain. I had suspicions that it was my pancreas since I am obese and I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. Now that you have confirmed what I had originally thought I'm going to be extra careful about staying away from too much sugar.
My mom died from fatty liver. The doctors acted surprised that she would have a fatty liver because she never drank in her life. But she had had a weight loss surgery and they said malnutrition. After doing Keto and watching these videos, I'm sure it is because of the diet. I am so glad to hear this information because I learned how to eat from my mom, and it was not great. Been Keto for 7 months and this is my new way of eating and hopefully not ever gonna have to go through what I saw her go through. Thanks for sharing important information.
Thank you for all your videos..I've been on the carnivore diet for 14 weeks and I've lost 21kg so far. I had a ultrasound recently and I have a fatty pancreas..I'm hoping it will get in the near future
hi dr berry!.. ty for the videos...i noticed on my annual lab work years ago that my liver tests were off....i was overweight, ate what i wanted at the time and never exercised...my primary dr said "oh dont worry about it....its just because u r overweight"..no suggestions, no recommendations, nothing... so i decided to be my own health advocate and take better care of myself...i have been on a keto/low carb diet since april and lost 22 lbs so far..i exercise most days now but i'm limited as i have scoliosis and osteoporosis that are chronic so i have to be careful about falling...i am only 61and i apologize daily to my body for letting it go this far....although i didnt think i was "that much" overweight , according to charts i was obese...i am still overweight but its getting better and my BMI has dropped a few numbers...i want to thank you for what u do here and i wish we could clone u so u could be my dr ...ps..i stopped the calcium supplements my oncologist recommended after my last bone scan that showed a decrease in bone density ...its a little scary to stop them because all my drs nag me about taking calcium but i am following your advice for now....no calcium supplements...drs here dont like to hear the word keto...they freeze up and shake their heads like i'm a fool...whatever...thanks again
Thank you for this and all of your videos. My doctor told me I had a fatty liver and just like you said, she said it isn't a big deal. I have no idea if I also have a fatty pancreas. I have been following a ketogenic diet for about 5 months now and am down 35 lbs. Even better, I feel good. The pain from osteoarthritis in my knees is almost completely gone. My questions is, how long does it take to cure a fatty liver or pancreas?
Thank you Dr. Berry. I was morbid obese Untill 1976 at 18 yrs lost weight but still became type2 1998 just didn't know about diet I was whole wheat, seedoil sweeteners skim milk Cheerios ECT. What your saying has changed my life Gucogon is a problem recently 130s NO MEDICATION sometimes lower 60s bowels float clay color const. Dry colon hope keto-carnivore heals this.
Dam I've been run over by the train and backed over again-fatty liver on a scan -told not to worry about it and it would never go away-Type -II now-I'm on keto and fasting now blood sugars have dropped 20 points but still not there. I am sure I have a fatty pancreas as well.
Thanks Dr B!! Love you and your straight up, no chaser approach. We know where sugar-coating gets us. We're given options and choices ~ Eat to HEAL-th or eat for Dis-ease. The decision is 100% ours ♥
You are making so much sence. Thank You for your vids. Trying to make a difference in my husbands and my diet. Feeling better already. Want to feel great again.
Thank you Dr Ken, wish you was my Doctor, you have explained more to me about type 2 diabetes and how to reverse it. Over 5 years now with type 2 diabetes and I have learned so much from you than I have from my Doctor. I have cut out many carbs as I can that was spiking my blood sugar, and now over 10 days on my new diet my blood sugar has dropped down to a 6.0 or as a normal person would be. Keep up the good work, get your self on main stream so more people can see how they can change how they can feel and live better. Thanks again, David in the UK.
My diabetologist put me on insulin shots 6 years ago, with metformin 3 times a day. My bariatric surgeon saved me, taking the insulin away and giving me liraglutide. All to avoid even more invasive bariatric surgery, further to a lap band (which was taken away 2 years ago) he suggested the keto diet which I started last September 10 kilos down and off metformin, still taking the shot of liraglutide but my blood sugar levels have improved so much! My A1c and Aic IFCC leveles went from 6,8 and 51 to 5,9 and 41 ! Thanks to your advice also!!!
I was told (after having an ultrasound back in September 2021) that I have fatty liver and fatty pancreas and was told to follow a NAFLD diet. I had never heard of this before. I wasn't given an NAFLD diet to follow, just told to follow one. So, I hit the internet looking for NAFLD diet plans. I went from eating a terrible diet which consisted of lots of bread, fried foods, sweets and fast food, to eating lean meats, low sodium, no added sugar, lots of whole grains, potatoes, vegetables and fruits, and drank only water. I'm 53 yrs. old and went from weighing 163 lbs. to 135 lbs. on the diet I was following. Then, in February I came across your videos on RU-vid. Once I found out that the NAFLD diet I had been following was not at all what I needed to be eating to get rid of the fatty pancreas and fatty liver, I became so overwhelmed. I was very thankful that I found you, but was so distraught over the 4 months I spent making matters worse by the diet I had been eating, and very angry that this particular diet is even out there for others to follow who don't know any better. I have been trying to follow the proper human diet, low-carb keto since the day after I found you on RU-vid. Now I'm at 125 lbs., but still feel like I'm not doing things exactly right - even though I'm trying very hard. I have started having burning pain across the upper middle of my back. Ever since I was told I have fatty liver and fatty pancreas (and for months and months prior to that) I felt discomfort in my left side behind my ribs. If I press in certain areas it feels like when you press on a bruise. Now, if I lay on my left side, it feels like something is being pressed against. I don't have insurance and feel very overwhelmed and worried because I don't know what to do or where to go at this point. I have myself convinced I have pancreatic cancer or some type of cancer. I can't afford to go to one doctor, just to be told they can't help me and send me to another doctor. If I go to the doctor I'm afraid they won't know the proper tests or blood work to do and that I'll be misdiagnosed. Is there any advice you can give me please?
Thank you 🙏 my son was diagnosed at 15 for T1 and I was amazed that the doctors don’t bother testing the pancreas again, they told us after taking insulin the pancreas shuts down anyway.
I appreciate you I so many ways, Doctor. I've commented before, but in short, I'm 65, an insulin dependant Type II Diabetic, I have a little ischemia in my heart, NAFLD, am a tea-toataler, never use tobacco in any form, see my family physician (and blood work) every 90 days, and have activity-induced asthma. I know this sounds whiney but it is what it is. I told my doctor the other day that if I had to go to dinner with a cardiologist and an endocrinologist there would be nothing on the menu to order but water. When I was first diagnosed with T2D I took a mini-class at the hospital on how to "control" my diet. The most memorable thing about the class was "It's all about portion control." That makes sense, but a carb allotment for one meal is spent on a quarter cup of cooked spaghetti. That's one Hoosier forkfull. That's it. I felt so doomed. Still do. Our species has always been dependant on our immediate environment for sustenance (Margaret Meade and others). It's too late for me to decide not to pass my defective genetic predisositions to future generations as my son and daughter were both grown adults by the time I figured it out. I'm always left with the question "What, then, to do."
Hey I think that you are pretty amazing! I learn something new with each video and I share with many of my people; because it is relevant! What's so sad is that people just won't listen. I am! Thank you for your service!
I have type 2, and after 10 years of metformin and gliperzide. I was given lantis insulin last week, and now my feet hurt terribly. I tried it last year and same problem, weight gain, and pain in my feet. . I am also a ten yr cancer survivor. I am going to start fasting, and drink protein shakes, and KETO. I don't know what else to do. My mother lost both legs, and her life to diabetes. What I do like is this doctor is not trying to sell anything. Only telling people straight up advise, on the cure.
Feeling nausea on and off today. Day 203 on Carnivore Diet. My urine for a long time with strong ammonia smell and read it is from high protein in my diet. Diagnosed NAFLD 2004 and six months into CD my lab at six months in showed no more NAFLD! If I have fatty pancreas (I was 280lbs now 250lbs plateaued for months now between losing 30lbs to 33lbs and back again...) I fasted 3 days about 2 weeks ago then totaled 47lbs lost at end of fast. Six days later I had regained 17lbs!! Could this be because of fatty pancreas? Does it take longer for fatty pancreas to resolve than fatty liver? None of the doctors since 2004 I'd seen never once said fatty liver was a big deal, nor even brought up the topic of fatty pancreas. I've been zero sugar since about 2007. I wish you were my doctor! Thanks for a great video!
I had my pancreas removed in 2010 and was told by my doctor that it was gangrene. Does this mean I'm living on borrowed time, I also was told to have fatty liver.
I have gastroparesis I'm not diabetic and was recently informed by my doctor that I have elevated liver enzymes as well as a nodule on my left adrenal gland. I was told we would just watch it and it's nothing to be concerned about. But I am very concerned and I do not know what to do or how to proceed.
Ive just found this video. I've had type 2 diabetes for 10 years but it's controlled and lost 5 stone. I have also been insulin resistant in the past. A scan has only now found complete fatty atrophy of the pancreas. It's strange that I've had diabetes for 10 years and only just shows fatty pancreas. My doctor is not worried about it and I've waited 3 weeks for a telephone consultation about it. Thank you for this video I will make every effort to help myself with this advice.
How do doctors determine someone has fatty pancreas? Through labs or blood work? The liver, and gallbladder and bile, and pancreas has a symbiosis of status and when ones out of wake, all these organs are slowly malfunction. That why we need holistic thinkers and decision makers who self-educate and make determine what's best of their own damn health.
Wondering if you can do a video on the pancreas and enzymes (or lack of) leading to pancreas attacks… I am finding that the high fat won’t digest and I’m perplexed. My best guess is its because they took my gallbladder out. would love a video on how the gallbladder, digestion and pancreas work together.
My diet was more than perfect for over 20 years however I never felt good keep getting sicker and after 4 years of being really sick almost died I finally got diagnosed with EPI pancreatic insufficiency, and my insulin is also on the low side, low fat, eating mostly veggies and fruits didn’t helped me with this condition, now I have to be in pig enzymes for the rest of my life and let me told you this pills are super expensive 3K for a month supply.😔😭 but at least I know now I’m absorbing my nutrients and hope to to regain my health and life back soon.
What's very strange is I don't have diabetes and I don't have fatty liver but on my CT scan it says I have mild fatty pancreas how the heck did that happen? All my blood tests came back normal and even my pancreas blood work came back normal so I am so concerned and yes I am overweight.
Hi Ken...I'd like to start a longitudinal study with you....'from afar'. I'm a semi-retired RN from upstate NY. I say this to allow you some understanding...of what I understand...as an RN with life-long nutritional and anatomical study. I'm NOT am MD...nor do I wish to become an MD. That stated. I've evaluated my personal health issues as having some malnutrition,...due to what I believe is PEI or Pancrease Exocrine Insufficiency (for lay public here). I don't typically have high or low blood sugars,...don't have diabetes...but I'm commonly tired due to malnutrition; self-diagnosed. I have loose, foul smelling steatoric BM's....most of the time that "float"...and hardly ever "sink". (Lay people are loving this conversation; I can imagine). Ahhh...what else,...I'm now taking an OTC enzyme formula from a company called "ZENWISE: Daily Digestive Enzymes". They do seem to help with gas, bloating, abdominal distention after ever meal....I'm just now trying to cut the fat in order to control this level of "bloating, etc." My stools are less "loose",...I'm pooping less, with somewhat less gas, bloating, etc....and this has been my "subjective coarse of self evaluation" for my calling this PEI. Without the enzymes,...I'm incontinent of bowel function to a high degree...and much less so with the enzymes...although my titration is definutely not perfect yet. My question is now: 1) what do you know about PEI...as it related to fatigue, Tx's that you may have found that work....the relationship between good PERT medicines from patients with PEI. 2) Anything else that you might want to add sir? Because listen...if I were 25 again,...I would get into Fx Medicine for sure.
I have type 2 diabetes but I’m so skinny. I’m 108 pounds. I don’t eat carbs, no bread, no sugar but my numbers are so high. I’m taking 1500 metformin sometimes but I’m the morning I have 360 glucose.
I am an ultrasound tech and it is pretty rare to even see an adult that doesnt have a fatty pancreas. Much more common than fatty liver and fatty liver is pretty common
I’ve got a fatty liver and slightly fatty liver, only slightly of my BMI, I never drink alcohol, my downfall is cheese and bread ! And no excercise. Wake up call for me, I was a little pudgy but not overweight by any means. Exercise and in processed foods is what I’m focusing on.
I've been following and doing most of your instruction. How long does it take to effectively get rid of a fatty liver? All my numbers were great from blood tests in all categories. My heart ultrasound was great, but when they looked at my liver they said I have a fatty liver and brushed it off. The Dr was amazed at my numbers because I was about 350 lbs. I didn't think fatty liver was a big deal because Drs dont make a big deal of it. I changed for myself and I'm currently down to 302 lbs in about 2 months with much more to go. I'm going all the way down. But how long before I can really say that I've conquered it....on average? Thanks.
I Hi I don't have a primary Dr at the moment. We are moving out of state from SC to Tennessee. My stomach has been hurting. First started right around the left of my belly button and then moved up above my belly button. I don't have much strength anymore. After just a couple of hours taking care of my horses I have to lay down. I have also had rectal spasms embarrassed to say so but in desperate need for advice. I found your video because I was looking to see what was above my belly button online and then I typed in heal your pancreas. I don't know if it's my pancreas but I'm just trying to research and help myself until I get moved and can find a primary doctor. I have just recently within this week started to change my diet eating more healthy less carbs. I don't know if it's pancreas or an ulcer or what. Just hoping to find some relief. Thank you
very true. My Dr told me that my fatty liver was no concern and asked me to stop eating junk food ( I never ate what they considered junk food: chips, soda, fries) and yet I was having fatty liver. WHY? because I was doing what conventional drs tell you: eat lots of grains, avoid red meat and fat
Dr. Ken, PLEASE do some videos for those of us who ARE on Keto/Carnivore but are still struggling with diabetes, fatty liver, etc. despite being on this way of eating for a few years (3 1/2 years for me now, just got a diagnosis of NAFLD to my shock.) I've been eating clean and no processed foods, I don't drink so... help!
Thanks for your help. May I cure my Insufficiency Pancreatic Exocrine? I’m 61 yrs old and I was diagnosed in 2015. My doctor just give me Creon 36000 enzimes , 2 with each meal and one with snacks. I’m prediabetic and with morbid obesity. How I need to eat for to be better.?
