Hace cincuenta años, el sur del Bronx estaba en llamas. Muchos estadounidenses, al ver la crisis desde fuera, sintieron que el mejor curso de acción para librar a la ciudad de la plaga urbana era "dejarla arder". Para las personas que vivían allí y que habían experimentado décadas de racismo sistémico que condujeron a los incendios, la tragedia fue doble. No solo fueron destruidos violentamente sus, una vez orgullosos, vecindarios de crisol, sino que al resto de la ciudad (y al país) no pareció importarle. Y de alguna manera, en medio de esta crisis en curso, las estaciones de bomberos estaban cerrando. Este documental elaborado por expertos analiza la historia a través de los ojos de las personas que vivieron en el sur del Bronx durante los incendios y que continúan viviendo allí y trabajando para proteger a su comunidad. Haciendo un excelente uso del material de archivo, la película también proporciona antecedentes, ya que traza la historia urbana de la zona desde la línea roja hasta la actual amenaza de gentrificación.
