The Royal Dutch Mint has produced a beautiful documentary about war veteran Les Fuller. He was with the British 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment and lost his right arm during Operation Market Garden.

For anybody coming to this now, sadly my grandfather passed away this morning. He was 99. This was such a monumental, almost impossible to conceive of experience and yet his life after this was probably even more incredible for what he achieved (given his disability) and what he got up to - amongst other things, escaping across the desert in the middle of the night by taxi during the Syrian coup in '63. RIP grandad. x

Would love to hear more about his amazing life. Maybe you should write a book about it. Respect

I had the pleasure to meet Les Fuller on a few occasions during the commemorations in Arnhem and Oosterbeek. During his stay in the Rijnhotel we had lengthy talks about what happened to him when he took part in the final attack to reach John Frost at the bridge. But this never happened and Les was caught in the open. He survived and lived a full life to be endlessly proud of. Thank you Les, you are one of a kind. We will remember..

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My mother-in-law, Sue, lived at Chartcombe and I know, up until her death, they were close friends. Yes a lovely, courageous, gentle man. It was lovely listening to him talk of all his adventures. An incredible man that will always be warmly remembered RIP.

I was 15 when my grandmother took me to Arnhem/Oosterbeek to see her sons grave for the final time. 50 years later, I still remember the amazing respect she was shown by the local people everywhere we went. I'd love to visit again one day. Flight Sgt B T.Gault, age 19..❤

What an incredible man... and he'd probably say he's not incredible at all! God bless him and all those like him (including my own dear old dad) for all they did and for securing the freedom we so easily take for granted these days.
