The best Photoshop tutorials on RU-vid by far.
@BGLENN-dp4tx

Ahaa! Now I get it. For this tutorial, I started Photoshop and followed along step-by-step with the video. With each of the methods, I paused the video and practiced each method as they were introduced and explained. I also ended up liking the third method (using adjustment layer curves/exposure/etc). This is terrific. Now I can dive into performing Dodge & Burn on photos which will definitely benefit from using skills explained. Thanks for the usual great job of helping the community. Cheers!

Always fun to see these Core Principals for digital artwork laid out so cleanly and well! I do use the Curves method, but I am still old school enough that my first reach is still for the original burn/dodge tool (its too much like many tools I use in 3DCoat w/the toggling to be easily set aside)

thanks man, nice techniques, personally like the last method. I like to add some more technique, here guys. after doing last method rasterize the all into a one that two curve layers and ball layer. go to the camera raw filter and maximum the clarity, a better 3d looking, also after doing it play again lightly with dodge and burn to that rasterized layer,. again thanks man

@NemanjaSekulic
@NemanjaSekulic 5 лет назад
Thanks. I'm glad that you like it. There is no like a strict rule about it. Usually you want to make highlights bit more bright and shadows darker. But you can also use this technique to reshape the light.
@user-je1oo6wt8w
@user-je1oo6wt8w 5 лет назад
@@NemanjaSekulic what is the meaning of reshape the light...and can i make dark area bright in the compositing with dodge tool ,is that logic?the photo will not be fake,and you said that there is no rule of use dodge and burn,but in the face i see some makeup artist using some area to dark it and some area to bright it(contour) ,is there any rule for the face...and thanks again

for the curves method (third sphere), i don't really understand about the invert step, can anyone explain?
@jdblick1002
@jdblick1002 2 года назад
using curves you brighten the ENTIRE image (or burning you use curves to darken the whole image) then reversing it makes this change completely hidden by the adjustment layer mask (AL being curves in this instance). Using a soft round brush you can then paint with white on the mask which will REVEAL the curves layer in the specific areas you paint. This is why you use 2 separate layers for the dodging and the burning, so you have full control over both parts of the process. it's just using a standard layer mask to reveal /hide something, only in this instance you are using it to only REVEAL the curves layer (as opposed to hiding/revealing another image). if you know layer masks used to create basic compositions this is the same thing. I hope this helps
