Ohhhmg I am soooo grateful to you for what you do!!! Thank you immensely for making this video for me, a 60 “something”single female, a mom a gramma!! It worked!! I was able to change out my own alternator but only because of your video and Jesus as I struggled with not having the leverage I needed to loosen the tension on the serpentine belt!! I had to ask for Jesus’ help when all my strength was gone and yes He came thru and that last crank was with ease!! Your diagram was superb!!! Thank you thank you motorcity mechanic!! Your the best!!!! JoAnn R wisc 😘🙏🌞🏝
Thank you so much brother! I know you made this 5 years ago but it really helped me out today my birthday March 22, 2020. Broken down in New Jersey during the Coronavirus pandemic and you really helped me by walking me through the repair. Liked and subscribed! ✌🏼❤️
There are some people out that that always a have a bone to pick.....they thumbs down all my videos. One in person that I know of has an intense dislike for me because I mentioned foot/lbs and in/lbs in the same video and even gave the torque specs on the screen for them to also see it for themselves. Supposedly it confused them and they over torqued a small bolt and it snapped off inside a transmission. First they said there is no such thing as in/lbs and then they came back with I confused them with multiple specs. None the less they cant understand no matter what I say so they have gone to every video of mine and thumbs down them and leave comments to others about the issue. You just cant make everyone happy....I try to give good advise and its free. I focus on those like yourself that appreciate the help. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Make sure to subscribe and enjoy the weekend
Thank you for the video you did an awesome job - especially giving tthe sizes of the sockets you need for the bolts. It's amazing how difficult it is to find that information online even at the forums. Thanks again.
Thanks for the short and sweet video. You may want to do an update for the Nitros. You have to remove the water tank to get to the tensioner and alternator front bolts. You have to remove the battery and airbox to get to the water tank, soooooo.........
Thanks Lee for that info. Each vehicle will have some added steps inorder to get to the alternator just as you saw on the Nitro. I will certainly keep it in mind if I get my hands on a Nitro in the future. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
I just yesterday did my '08 Liberty also formerly owning a Nitro which to my recollection is the same under hood for the 3.7. Yes is is a little tight for the tensioner bolt but had no problem getting alternator off without removing anything else. Strangely my front alternator bolts were 3/8", not 15mm-everything else as described; thanks for the vid!
Simple as to follow you my friend, clear & well spoken instructions, video angels excellent, as i jst spent $540.00 on a new one didn't need to screw it up ! Keep up the good work
You could be a college professor. "Nonetheless, imma get my ratchet with a 15mm head.. turn it clockwisee" lol You sound like a professor and you also explained it well and clear. Great video
Awesome! Always glad to see that the older stuff still gets watched and that they still help people. Thanks for reaching out and make sure to subscribe
I was 45 minutes from home when the alternator failed. Luckily I was 5 minutes from an AutoZone who had only one in stock. First thing I did was to subscribe. 2007 Jeep Commander rolling on. With 158,500 miles I changed the water pump, starter, alternator, and spark plugs in the last seven months. Thanks again.
+Ricardo Wiggs that's how it always goes....hours from home, pouring rain, and middle of the night. I laugh sometime about there seeming to be a parts store on every corner, but when you need one....you are great fun
Wow.....if they were charging you that much then I don't know how they sleep at night. You saw how easy it was. Well in glad that you found the channel and watched the video. Thanks for the feedback and make sure to subscribe
Thanks for watching Steve.....the process is the same for all years and models of vehicles that came equipped with the 3.7. The location and mounting of the alternator never changed so it applies to all of them. Thats the main reason I titled it by band and engine size. Appreciate the feedback. Make sure to subscribe and hang around to check out some of my other videos as well.
You are correct; I successfully used your instructions last night. The 2008 Liberty is a little more difficult due to that big plastic tank for coolant and windshield washer, which covers the whole top of the radiator and sits in front of the alternator.
You are welcome. It becomes easy once someone shows you whats needed. Its all about sharing knowledge and I appreciate your time for both watching it and for the comment. Make sure to subscribe!
On this vehicle.....for sure! Take your time and you shouldnt have any issues. Thanks for checking the video out and for the comment. Also dont forget to subscribe!
I’m trying to take off alternator on 2007 dodge nitro. I got the belt off the 13mm on side of alternator but the two 15mm is not fitting to take off. Is there another mm to use. Thank you
Hi one big question I change a battery’s new and alternator together. And I drive. Couple days and my light battery is on. When I turn off the car goes off. And I can drive. Couple miles and return the light battery. They check the alternator and battery. And is fine Can you do a. Video gran Cherokee 2014 limited v6. Run fine just light on battery.
ok... so ..... its my understanding that ... the voltage on the battery is on the + side... not the - side.... so ... if you undo the negative terminal and touch it to any part thats metal on the vehicle.. wont it spark... because the body is a ground? Undoing the + side and you touch it to metal nothing happens because the grounded side of the battery is a no charge... ?
I have the plug from the other vehicle think a 01 Grand Cherokee and cut off plug from 03 Durango was on interchange list all 3 cars have a striped wire and a solid color but not the same exact colors. How dangerous is it to try both ways if you get it wrong. first going with striped on stripe solid on solid trying to match. then going the other way solid on striped.
Why would you pass up taking off the coolant reservoir. I can’t see where the screws are at on the bottoming it or what size the screws are in my dodge nitro 2007.
If you're willing to go underneath the truck you don't have to take it off. I didn't take either of them off (coolant/windshield washer) it's pretty straight forward
The belt tensioner is automatic and doesnt need any adjustment. If you had an issue you would hear possible belt squeal when starting or when the a/c is turned on. But otherwise you shouldnt have any issues. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
+Chris Highlights You will either need to get the correct alternator with the same connector or you will need to get the connector from the junk yard vehicle you got the alternator from and then further research will be need to make sure which wires will need to be spliced from the original vehicle harness to the connector you cut from the junk yard vehicle.
If you feel its needed....by all means yes. Usually I dont need to but it depends on which vehicle the work is being done on. Thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe
