21mm or 13/16th wrench on the tab, opposite side of the original part works as wel.l on the replacement looked bigger but either way if you cant get in there with breaker bar or 3/8ths or 1/2 inch ratchet then a wrench on that tab will work A-1 auto uses a wrench in there water pump video. just sharing info sometimes a guy might not have a ratchet.
Wish I could do that with my 3.0 litre 2000 Plymouth Voyager. I have to jack it up, put jack stands under it, crawl under it, and reach deep into the engine compartment. It took me over 3 hours to get the old unit out and put a new one in, and then route the serpentine belt.
Why on God's green earth do we have to go through so much crazyness on these cars --- why did they make it so difficult and unpleasant (understatement) to work on them?!? I think a Formula One car would be less difficult and stressing to work on!!
because they are built to be easy to work on by the same engineers who make it a nightmare to work on your personal car. so you will bring it to the dealer to have it worked on all while being butt raped by the charges. its also why you can buy simple parts that a costs 50 bucks and is worth 15 cents made of plastic
ozzy kimble Having been a parts guy for decades, and a car guy all my life, I already know the answer. It's the fact that making it easier to put together on the assembly line, and saving as much money during manufacture, is the primary goal. That's because, next to HR, Accounting is the most powerful department in any modern company. The end user being able to make repairs is the furthest thing in their thought processes when designing a car. I was just venting my own frustration as I tried to fix my car!
i have to ask why u wasted your money on it. and extra long wrench or two wrenches doubled up work perfectly. ive used the double up for years and would never bother with that tool. its a waste of hard earned money.
On my '05 Grand Caravan I took the wheel off and removed the plastic panel just to discover there is not enough clearance between the frame and the tensioner to insert a regular ratchet in the 1/2" socket hole. I don't see how you can use the double wrench trick on this. Thus the extra THIN tool!!!
