Just did this repair job on my wife’s 2011 grand caravan. One tip when putting the cable in for handle. Don’t forget to put it back into the plastic anchor for tension or door won’t open. Thanks brother for this video. You made my wife happy👍
I tried this last night and it worked like a charm. Because we had tools handy, fabricating only took a few minutes. The tip to pull on the panel until you think it will break was a good tip. I was was afraid, but it did give way. I did, in fact, drop the fabricated part into the door. Because it wasn't my first time being an idiot, I had my magnetic telescopic flashlight grabber handy. Great tips, thanks.
Thank you for your video. Just fixed mine and it worked great. I removed the interior handle assembly for access to the hole directly across from the bolts. Thanks for posting!
My ‘09 Chrysler T&C just had the driver side sliding door handle go out at 188k. Not much of a minivan anymore cuz the ac hasn’t worked in years but now I just use it for hauling stuff I don’t want to put in my Toyota or Honda lol. Thanks for the video.
My Caravan has always double as the work vehicle, the Mrs drives an Odyssey and that’s a little too nice for the piles of stuff I fit in these vans, I’m afraid I’ll always drive a Van
Awesome video. My wife had a great idea we used a kids blanket rolled up inside the door so if anything fell it wouldn't be lost forever 😉. One more thing the torx screws were T-20. Again awesome video. Thanks for making it.
@@YoungbloodFamilyFarm took me like 2 hours the first time, second time about 20 min. With practice you become master :). But different car is an option too!
Wow, that is such an excellent idea. I had the same problem. 330,000 km on my van and it is too good to junk because of a broken handle. I will be trying this solution tomorrow.
This is exactly my similar problem. My handle is not completely broken off but will not open the door from outside. It would have been a great addition to have an image sketch with sizes on the part you made so that we can get this ready before tearing the door open. I will try to make a outline sketch with all sizes when I get to do mine. Have to do both sides due to my aggressive nature of opening frozen stuck doors. A little wd 40 on the rubber so far has prevented further ice ups of the doors.
OK! First of all thank you very much for this useful video. I repaired my door handle and you are a big part of it! I just want to add one thing : I effectively LOST inside de door the precious replacement piece (...). In the video you said that it was lost forever. I disagree! I taped a strong magnet with a screwdriver then attached a rope to the screwdriver. Then, I just went fishing for the missing piece. Took me 10 minutes but finally got it! ... 3 minutes later I lost a screw there too... once again I used the magnet screwdriver and got it back.
Little trick remove the inner door handle 3x10mm bolts and 2 torx bolts ,then remove the tape covering the hole .Then you can get a rachet and extension and get to it easier
Hey, perhaps you can help me. I am unable to open the manual sliding door from the inside. It's not child lock as the working sliding door behaves differently when child lock is on. When I pull from inside, the working door would pull further and will click and stop opening. With the non working door, the pull is half and no clicks or action. The door can open from outside.
