2017 ram 1500 with this pentastar engine. The top housing bolt is a pain with some wiring harness in front of it but I got it after some cuss words.

What no torque Specification or bolt size? Let me guess just tight enough but not to tight.

What is the normal running temperature when it's fully heated up on the 300?
@ParkerUAS
@ParkerUAS 3 года назад
Don't know the 300 specifically, but this engine in both a Journey and a Wrangler will run at 185F in lower Temps (below 70 outside). Living in Phoenix, on a 115F day with the A/C at max and in stop and go traffic up at 8% grade, both would hit 215 or so. Never overheated, but the fan was at full blast. Once you take the load off it will cool to about 200.

@@ParkerUAS Yes it's the same engine, thx for the update.

@@michaelwise6970 yes, just wasn't sure how great the airflow to the radiator was on the 300. I would think with the large frontal area it might actually run a bit cooler since the radiator can work a little better. Not sure though.

Why do you have to drain all the fluid? Can't you clamp the hose and replace the part?
@ParkerUAS
@ParkerUAS 3 года назад
I tried to do this and failed. Most likely, a plug on the hose is needed as when I tried to clamp it like I have on other vehicles, the hose was stiffer/dryer/less maliable than I am used to and it cracked. I also live in the desert, which likely played a role.

@@ParkerUAS I did get it, but the first time I over tightened it and broke the thermostat. Had to buy another and do it all over again
