Power wagons , one of the most versatile small trucks out there . Love these machines . Would do a resto on one of these fresh out the barn 4wd with diesel conversion , no problem , Built to last . Real working truck .
god damn, these trucks could go through anything, anywhere, anytime. and still last 50 years afterwards. man i wish they came out with modern day trucks like these.
since everybody is building vehicals to resemble the older cars dodge should redesign these power wagons.basicly just put this style body on the new power wagon frame and add the cummins option.
Back in those days Ford and Chevy had pretty boy trucks! Good trucks no doubt but if you had serious work to be done like hauling an extremely heavy load or pulling a very heavy load you wanted or had a Dodge Power Wagon. These trucks were advertised to pull plows the same as a tractor and were built tough. These trucks were the real deal some with two speed high and low transmissions in them.
Hey ! That's my truck at 3:24 (was my Dad's when that image was taken in VT). Was already happily watching the slideshow and then wo! pretty cool, thanks for the effort, lots of great trucks in there. The gray truck at 2:01 is stunning in person, was st the same VT meet. Anyhow, thanks!
I have always been a ford guy but these trucks deserve there spot as one of the best. I always wanted to get one a do a 12v swap into it. Would be a lot of fun to drive and wouldnt suck as much fuel while you enjoyed it.
I drove in one as the passenger on a jamboree with a hopped up 12 valve cummins our buddy same set up but 440 we had aftermarket A/C as we drove there let me tell ya both went everywhere never stuck ran great but we had more torque and much better fuel mileage somebody had a 6.5 detroite turbo diesel from a 96 'burban he had no problems and he got more rpm's out of his and great milage. diesel swaps are the future but 6.5 turbo from 92 gm-2000, any 5.9 cummins, 99-03 7.3 powerstrokes..
As to the 3 levers: the two that are together shift between 2x4 an 4x4 and hi and low range. The third operates the PTO/winch. Thats my truck about 2:15 in, with the dump bed and spare tire on the headboard.
