Personally I don’t like the paint guide on Revell kits, wish they’d change it. The sprues are designed to fit the American style kit boxes :) I would go with the blue and white stripes myself. I did like seeing the Vipers race, great cars. Nice unboxing, model on
Thanks a lot, Sarah Jane. I do generally use the Revell colours as a general guide. I will let you see the colour scheme when I finally get around to starting it! Still very much focused on the house move at the moment!
It’s a shame there aren’t more manufacturers (model kit manufacturers, I mean) that took up the GTS Viper. I planned on building a Viper model car kit for my mother’s birthday, doing some visual customizations and upgrades (the majority of the body is well designed, but the grill looks quite goofy, so I planned to remove the cross bar in the center, widen the grill, but make it shorter and deeper, with more angular edges, not the rounded-ness which makes it look goofy). Having a hinged hood is a luxury which I appreciate with this model. I’ll probably find tutorials about making opening doors. I did consider other older cars and Mopar cars, but they all have a homogenous design and shape that doesn’t lend well to making wide body designs, they’re quite flat and the viper has a very curvy and interesting shape which would lend well to a widebody design. Thank you for this video, I will surely consider this model for thsi viper as it looks quite good, but I dislike that the firewall is attached to the main body, I’m used to AMT models which relegate the firewall of the front engine area to the bottom piece for the underbody/underside of the car, so this model kind of irks me. There’s a huge gap between the hood and the doors on this model as well.
I agree - you would have thought a more recent mould of this car would have come out, maybe from a Japanese manufacturer as well as this older Revell one. I think there is a more contemporary Viper kit from Revell, maybe worth looking into as well. If you haven't looked, try Scalemates.com as you can see all the kits available for different subjects. Good luck!
Same kit I made in our mystery box build off. Good build, everything very smoothly went together but I didnt like the giant gap the bonnet had at the front because of its openability, so i filled it in and made it removeable rather than hinged,
My brother bought it for me as it was his favourite when we were younger. It's great as it was not only a decent bit of American muscle, but successful on the international circuits too.
Shame so much of the engine is molded as 2 pieces, and the spare tire into the rear hatch. Other than that looks like a great kit, can't go wrong with a Viper!
