Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine ru-vid.comUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older.But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.

"not recommend for a hunter"............. not sure what your recommendation criteria is for hunting, something where longbows and recurves are still used. This bow is tiny, compact, light 'enough, comfortable fall-off for long holds, and if you shorten your draw length one notch you can pull firmly into the wall and take away 99% of the "sponginess", and it shoots over 315fps with my setup - I've taken a dozen deer, two elk and dozens of boar in the time I have had it - and I have the original Edge. For tree hunting, ground blinds, and brush blinds, its great, small, and on-the-cheap setup.

I've had the Infinite Edge Pro since 2015 and have killed tons of deer with it, all on public land. Just had my first ever string replacement last month, and it is back to being like a brand new bow and my back wall is still solid as a rock. I use it with the Apex Gear AG2301GB 1 dot Covert Pro power dot sight and it's a deadly combo.

15:12, Pro tip I learned in the military. Use index marks on EVERYTHING. Take a sharpie or map marker (they should come off with hand sanitizer but test first) that way if anything comes moves accidentally or intentionally you have a reference to get it back quickly. I recommend you use map markers with a super fine tip, that way you get the most accurate index mark. For the sake of clarity, an index mark for those who dont know is just a drawn line on a non moving part of the weapon system and a corresponding line that is on a moving part of it. You just make both lines "line up" and you know they are set back to the original location. examples include sights, rests, stabilizers and grips

I have bows ranging from 150$ to 600$. The thing i noticed is that it doesnt matter if you shoot a cheap or expensive bow but I do recommend quality accessories. Because i notice the cheaper accessories tend to get lose while shooting while the more expensive ones dont. My advise is to invest in accessories and safe money on the bow itself. You can always upgrade the bow and use the same accessories.

to someone that isn't familiar to the sport, this video speaks volumes to the importance of form and technique while shedding light on how little the sport relies on equipment. Equipment can make things more consistent and even convenient, but its repetition and consistency that matter in the world of archery. great video, you have my subscribe and thumbs up :)

Good, honest video. Assuming that the draw length was already by chance good for the buyer, that bow is right out the box plenty accurate and dependable enough to go hunting and kill a deer. All's it would require is a couple of hours of tweaking and practice for the individual and that's it. Lotta very, very expensive bows on the market but to be honest they're no better for the average deer hunting situation than that bow.

The Diamond Infinite Edge Pro is able to be adjusted (draw weight and draw length) without a bow press. Here is a link on how to adjust the draw length without a bow press. Not sure why you had to use all the fancy tools to do this, rather then showing the viewers how simple it is to adjust? The video is - How to adjust draw length on a Diamond Infinite Edge Pro black ops - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OqouIO8nYBw.html. I just googled the bow name and how to adjust the draw length. Now not everyone has a bow press or all the other fancy tools to set their bows up. That is why allot of the bow companies have gone to making their bows adjustable without the need for bow presses or other tools (just need an allen wrench or two). All one needs to do is read the information when they open their bow up and it will tell you if you can do it yourself or you need to go to the archery shop for help. Just an observation.

Hey man! Sometimes the module screws can hide behind the limbs like it did in the video. It forced me to pressed the bow so I can rotate the cams to reach the screws. If you don't have a press, I recommend having someone partially draw the bow as it's laying on a table, and then you can remove the screws. I hope that helps!

Samuel thanks for this video. I'm thinking of starting with compound bow archery and am wondering if I could start with a budget around 400 dollar. I do not have any ambitions and it's just for shooting 3d and target at a range or garden. (I've got a 40 year old recurve bow which I shoot occasionally). I hope you are able to evaluate bows like the PSE, Stinger/Drive and or Bear Cruzer. Starting bows with serieus specs from leading brands. By the way absolutely no issue watching your whole video. Will certainly watch your next one.

Awesome video, I love bow tech bows, personally they are my favorite. The only thing that gets me is the idea that a $300.00 bow is considered as a budget bow. I have made osage orange, ash, oak, hazel, hickory, and sycamore bows of high poundage, perfect for hunting and they last a really long time if well taken care of. Some last longer than others and some last a lifetime. Yes there is a major difference between the different types of bows but the main purpose is it's a hunting tool, to place an obscene price on it is ridiculous in my opinion, how much does one think it's worth is the question opposed to the quality and how good and effective the product is itself. I completely understand the "you get what you pay for" concept but when bows reach to the thousands of dollars in price and the only difference is the name that is written on it, that is more like "make me rich suckers" status, not this is a high quality bow and worth your hard earned money. The actual cost to engineer a good, solid, workable, and high quality bow for just one person is very expensive however in a production line punched out thousand daily starts cutting the price of production to extremely minimal cost thus $300 to even $400 dollars is a solid fair price for a compound bow making the budget bow term more like $75 to $150 not $300 as it is so commonly said nowadays.
@Sandz_
@Sandz_ 5 лет назад
Great video. Thanks for doing this. Very entertaining. Only minor “issue” I had was how quickly you said no to it being a hunting bow. Your opinion is your opinion and I’m not dogging on you but it seems bizarre that you’d do this test which essentially “proved” archery is more about good practice, proper form, and a good mindset than having the best bow on the market but turn around and say the IEP couldn’t be a hunting bow. I know about the string stretch and the back wall being a little squishy but in the right hands, this is a stone cold deer killer.
@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
Thank you so much! You're exactly right. Haha, I've had to explain this so many times 😂. This bow can be an absolute monster in the right hands. Why I say that I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner hunting bow is because the weaknesses are too major for a beginner. It would be super easy to injure an animal if the archer lacked experience and was hunting with the stock bow. I never want that to happen. If the archer is willing to put in the time and effort into tuning and form, this bow will be killer. I know the majority of archers don't have the time nor the resources to be able to super tune the bow and change their form to be as accurate as possible. That's why I wouldn't exactly recommend it as a beginner hunting bow. I hope this makes sense! Thanks for watching!

@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
@@traesdb11 What's up man! Thanks for watching by the way. In regards to your question, the Diamond Infinite Edge is a solid bow if you can put in the time to practice with it. And since it is under your budget, this allows you to buy custom strings which I highly recommend that you do (The stock strings that come with the diamond are not that great). I believe this will help you a lot in improving accuracy. If you're thinking about going with a different bow, I'd recommend that you go to your local archery shop and try out the bows in your budget. When testing these bows, focus on the grip, draw cycle, and any other factors that may be important to you (ie. speed, vibration, etc). I hope this helps and let me know if you have anymore questions! My email is always open as well: samuelwhitearchery@gmail.com

Is it an X at 10:30???? YES! Take it from a long range (mile +) rifle shooter! When I score NRA 1,000 yard F-Class matches, I have to score the bullet holes in the similar paper targets, and some bullets are smaller diameter than those X23's which range from .363 - .420, where I can see bullet diameter as small as 6mm (.23). That shot crossed the X line!!!!
@ee222
@ee222 5 лет назад
great video and yes, i did watch it 'til the end! hey, i got 2 questions. one is early on you mentioned that the string/cables were cheap. wondering if you ever swapped those out for better quality and did that help with the issues you mentioned toward the end (ie, starting off great with all "X's" and ending up with more "9's" towards the end. also having to mess with the tuning almost throughout the sessions). 2nd question is your adjustments required a bowpress. didn't i see somewhere that the diamond line allows for adjustments without the need for a bowpress? i'm thinking maybe the diamond edge sb-1??
@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
Thank you so much and thanks for watching! I wasn't able to get my hands on a custom set of strings, but from my experience, that would definitely help with the bow's major issues. In regards to the draw length adjustment, for the specific draw length that I wanted, the screws would be sitting behind the limbs. This meant that I had to put it in the press to put the screws in the correct place. I hope this answers your questions!

@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
I think that would definitely be a good investment. 1 thing that I noticed with this bow was it was really tough to tune since the strings and cables wouldn't stop stretching (they did over time, but it took a while). The timing would also change slightly depending on temperature which is a huge negative. If you invested in higher quality strings, these shouldn't be much of a problem. Matt Skindzier glad to hear it. I just bought this bow the other day. I had a good day yesterday with it. Shot around 100 arrows total throughout the day. I’m brand new to archery and am having a heck of a time getting my sight right. Aside from the accuracy I should have at 20 yards, it’s got a great amount of power and a very smooth shot. I’ve got more tinkering to do with the sight but overall I’m very happy with it.

The problem is, the same people that buy these bows are the same people who don't know a clue about proper tuning, and bows like these are typically bought from big box stores, where you cant properly get them tuned. So crappy bows will still shoot crappy most of the time :/ Not so much as the bows fault, but you have to realize the target audience here. Also, I would love to see you try and shoot the bow as accurately with just stock accessories, as that's a more realistic use case I would think. Overall, great video, cheers mate!

Here's another angle, get your hands on a couple of 15 or 20 year old compounds and I bet you will get the same result. I shot a Hoyt Protec (one of the very first split limb bows), back in the late 1990's to a WA 100 rating (Grand Master Bowman) so it's more about technique for shore. But, the modern compounds feel soooo much nicer in the hand and sound better for sure, keep the vids. coming mate, I have to get Jimi of his lazy arse and do a video. Ahh...good video until you said it wouldn't be a good Hunting bow...mmmm I gotta disagree. I hunt with compound and traditional gear. Tons of deer die from stickbows every year...this bow would have no problem killing a deer even from a novice. Your appear to only be a paper puncher...stay in your lane.

100% agree, i was a teenager when i got an earlier model of diamond in left hand and grew up with it. dropped many deer with that setup. finally maxed out the poundage on it last week and im about to move onto a new bow. but i gotta say, I literally molded to that bow and it never let me down. one of the best setups for a young archer who shoots left hand but cant find a setup. I will agree tho, the stock string does have a lot of elasticity, and should be changed out if you want to get serious with it, you can hear that the bow doesnt slam with its highest potential when stock.

This is exactly why I keep my head in the sand about bows. I've been hunting the same cheap bear compound I bought used in 2009 and it's killed a blacktail every year since. It was 60 bucks. Hell I watched my buddy carve a osage stick bow and take an elk last year, I don't even think his bow has a rest.

That's probably the best score anyone has put up with a Diamond anything. I thought you were going to get a 300 on the last game. Did the string stretch? Did the timing change during the testing? Remember that you are a pro. and as a pro you are capable of tuning far beyond most archers. You mentioned several times how difficult it was to tune. What were the problems? Did you try it as a true beginner style rig? Short stab., pin sight, etc. I'd be curious to know how it shot for you that way, as hat's how it is most likely to be used. The footage from JOAD class at Tanglewood brought back some memories for sure. That old Hoyt was almost a big as you were. Keep up the good work.
@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
Hahaha thanks Ray! I was really going for that 300, but the bow couldn't seem to hold steady enough. The bow wouldn't let me use any back tension to help it settle down so I just had to let it float until it went in the middle. The strings definitely did stretch while tuning and I made sure to put a ton of arrows through it before getting it fully setup. I wouldn't be surprised if the string stretched during actual practice. The timing would change depending on the temperature so that could have been a part of the issue. During tuning, the main issue was the timing because of the strings stretching and the other issue was nock travel. After messing with the bow for a while, I got it into shape, but it was pretty time consuming. I did not try it as a true beginner style rig, that would have been a really good test to try though. In the raw video of the Tanglewood footage, I can actually hear you speaking in the background. It's a neat little throw back and I'm really glad that we filmed back then. Thank you so much!

It's fine, but I imagine you could find a bow for a little more money that would be better suited for target archery. I'd suggest looking for a longer axle to axle, some around 35" or more so the bow is more stable. PSE make the phenom for about 500 ish that will be a good starter target bow, win and win also make a couple of compound bows for slightly cheaper that aren't too shabby for a first bow.

Great video! I just bought one for my 14 year old girl yesterday, whos brand new to shooting. She was doing pretty well at the shop after her bow got set up. After she gets her form down and gets to where she’s getting very consistent any longer ranges, which accessories would be the ones to upgrade first? Or which ones that come with the bow do you think are the weakest? I was thinking the rest, but I’m no authority at all.
@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
Thank you so much! You're completely correct, the rest is likely the best area to start. This is because of the importance of paper tuning and making sure her arrow is coming out straight. If the rest she has now doesn't have the micro-tunability to produce a straight arrow flight, I would start there (especially if she's using a whisker biscuit). Is she wanting to get into bowhunting or just shoot targets?

You dont need expensive gear to be good. Bought a sanlida dragon x8 aka the amazon special which was $200 for the full kit and made in china and its a great bow. Fills me with pride when i shoot better than all the buyhards with their Mathews bows and $20 a pop goldtip airstrike arrows. My whole set up (bow, arrows, releases, sight,rest, etc) probably under $400 and I'm still one of the better archers at the range with only 2 months of shooting experience too. The bow is quiet, has a smooth drawcycle, solid backwall, and is super consistent. Not to mention, it's pretty much completley self serviceable. Adjustable from 0-70lbs through the limb screw and you just need to loosen and adjust 2 screws in the cams to change draw legnth. Cam timing was spot on out the box, string was already stretched and there's little to no cam lean on it. After buying some cheap levels and using the rope limb screw trick to find my center shot i didn't even bother paper tuning. They fly so perfectly straight that i can't even see them once they go flying unless i get just the right lighting.

I know I'm coming into this really late but as an avid Montana hunter I use this bow as my "practice" bow throughout the year as I can adjust the weight down far enough that I don't get fatigue from long practice sessions simply to keep my muscles in shape. For hunting I shoot a Bowtech BTX 31 set to 70 pounds which is putting my arrows down range at over 320 FPS. That said, back to the point, the Infinite Edge is a fantastic bow for just having fun with the kids and keeping you in shape for hunting season and it's a good backup bow to keep at Elk camp just in case your primary bow has problems.

I was totally with you on every part of this review until youd said you dont recommend it as a budget hunting setup. I think that where you hunt, the type of hunting, and whether or not you are willing to have a pro-shop do your fine tuning after a break in period. I live in the north east and ive never actually shot at a deer over 40 yards with the vast majority of my shots being within 25 yards. I feel as though, with a little practice, this bow would be fitting for hunting purposes such as these. Obviously not out 'west' where longer shots are common place as its clearly not in that playing field though capable in the right hands. Personally, i believe that single cam bows allow the most forgiveness and somewhat longer brace heights normally, which adds to that furthermore. They still offer plenty of speed at the same time. I feel that its too widely accepted that you need flagship type performance to kill deer when realistically 40lb of draw weight pushing a roughly 400gr arrow is COMPLETELY adequate within say 30 yards, which is where i feel the vast majority of bow shots are taken in hunting situations. That being said, i do agree that higher end bows and tech do make shooting at high levels, and in less than ideal positions to boot, much easier. I do feel however that the advancement in compound bow tech in the last 15± years has undoubtedly trickled down into 'lower end' bows to the point that $400-500 bow setups today would match or surpass flagship bows of a decade ago. Nobody should be ashamed of shooting bows on a budget. Especially in todays archery world. My local gander outdoors is going out of business, they wont say it out loud but the whole store is 40% off. Id love to see a Barnett Vortex Hunter (45-60lb) reviewed as i feel its the ULTIMATE basement bargain. I believe its listed as $100 and comes with a sight, rest, and quiver. (You can imagine the quality of those) but if its actually functional... I can pick it up for literally $60 brand new right now....

@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
Hey Bryan! During the video I made the mistake of not explaining further about shooting it as a hunting bow. Here's what I meant - this bow can be an absolute monster in the right hands. Why I say that I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner hunting bow is because the weaknesses are too major for a true beginner. If I did recommend it as a beginner hunting bow, I know there would be somebody that would take the bow out with little to no practice or tuning. It would be super easy to injure an animal if the archer lacked in experience and was hunting with the stock bow. I never want that to happen, especially as a result of my recommendation. If the archer is willing to put in the time and effort into tuning and form, this bow will be perfect. I know the majority of archers don't have the time nor the resources to be able to tune the bow and change their form to be as accurate as possible. I hope that makes sense and clears things up! I'll definitely look into that bow and see if I can get my hands on it at some point! The local Gander Mountain closed down a while ago, so it might be a little tough to find a Vortex Hunter. Nonetheless, I'll be looking into it. Thanks for watching and for the great comment!
@bryantitus6634
@bryantitus6634 5 лет назад
@@SamuelWhiteArchery I do understand your point, and I gathered what the point was you were getting at was. I do agree that stock accessories on these budget bows are on the low end to keep price down. While functional, they leave a lot to be desired. (The Barnett vortex Hunter that I mentioned looks to be fitted with accessories that are the absolute lowest end possible, think budget sight, rest, and quiver from a decade ago and you are getting there.) I understand why you went with the route you had to find the true accuracy potential of such a budget bow, and I'm not disappointed. Not along the lines of your argument that if someone, especially on the lower budget end, doesn't have the ability or tools to do a proper tuning of the bow that its good practice to 'shoot the bow in' somewhat after the initial setup to let the budget string/cables 'stretch in' and then have the bow properly tuned and check for proper tuning at least before the start of every season and a bow in this range should be functional for most entry level archers in most hunting scenarios. It takes loads of practice with any setup to be able to be reliably accurate to 40 yards plus. As you'd mentioned in your reply, not everyone has the access of location available to practice as much as needed to be able to be reliably accurate with this bow, I moved recently and don't have the yard to practice over 30yds. In years past I would shoot out to 60+ in practice sessions and now I limit myself to 30 yards in hunting situations as I'm simply not confident in my current abilities to cover what I once could. It is what it is. I also have a small pro-shop 3 miles from my house, so I at least have that to my advantage.

I love this bow. I did buy it for hunting though and am curious as to why you think it's not a good option for hunting? Great video!
@SamuelWhiteArchery
@SamuelWhiteArchery 5 лет назад
Thank you so much! This bow is a great bow, but I'm just worried about the weaknesses and how that can effect a hunter that's under a lot of pressure. When I shot the bow, I noticed some major weaknesses like the smushy wall. In a high pressure situation we naturally get more tense and pull more into the wall, which will cause the arrow to shoot high. I would never want an animal to suffer so my expectations for hunting bows are really high. If you feel confident in your shooting with this bow, I bet it will be a great hunting bow for you! I just tend to set my expectations pretty high haha. Also, since this bow is so low budget, they had to cut corners on the strings, so I would highly recommend buying new strings and cables if you can. This should make the bow a lot more consistent. If you put enough practice into it, this bow will shoot fantastic! I hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

@@johntamez7971 Personally, I use Hamskea arrow rests and they work like a charm. They are a bit on the pricey side, but I would highly recommend them. Here are some links, Hamskea Target Rest: amzn.to/2MaqufZ Hamskea Hunting Rest: amzn.to/2AOmsoW For a sight, I use a Sure Loc sight that I've had for about 4-5 years. For hunting, my sight is an old hand-me-down Axcel Accutouch sight that got ran over, but still works (after a few repairs) hahaha! I don't know what type of hunting you're going to be doing so I'm not sure what sight I could recommend you.

I'm a beginner archary hunter my bowtec guy told me i could hunt just fine with it. I've shot it i believe him. I got me a javalina tag and plan on using my Diamond infinite edge pro, I'll just keep my strings waxed, my cover on while i track and a cool calm heart rate when i find one. Take care of it it will take care of you kind of thing.

@@isaacrodriguez2523 You're exactly right! You definitely can hunt with it, especially with the effort you're putting in to make it stay consistent in harsh climates. Thank you for watching! I wish you luck on your hunt

A bow, like a computer.. Is a " tool"... That said... GARBAGE IN= GARBAGE OUT! Not the computer's fault... OR... the bows fault! Nuff said! Been shooting since I was 5 N am 68 this September! Been shooting " old school trad", n , new whizz bang compound whatevers! Makes no dif to me!! If you the shooter have bad habits during your shot cycle, you, not the bow SUCK! You are the problem! NOT THE BOW N NOT THE ARROWS!!! YOU need to fix you!!! Period! I'm out! I got some paint to watch dry! GWW... Ooouuuttt!!!

You Da Man! I was waiting for so long for someone to make this move. And also to take a 300 bucks bow with cheap accessories and arrows into the woods and hunt the shit out of everything what moves on the North American Continent. Great vid Samuel. Courageous move. Diamond,...I mean Bowtech will never get back to you. They need to sale their flagship bows. They advertise this bow if I'm not mistaking as a cheap but decent recreational bow.

Everywhere near the Denver area. Bear Creek Archery, High Altitude Archery (where this was filmed), and Archery in the Wild. If you're at any of those shops, you'll likely see me around. Thanks for watching, man!

Samuel White sweet man I just started slinging arrows and actually have the bow you reviewed. I do most of my shooting in Colorado Springs.

what did fred bear shoot? that $300 bow is probably piles better, but it doesn't mean YOU will be better. and neither does a $1000 bow, just that you'll be poorer.
