When matt said "I've always wanted to know how bad it hurts to get hit with a bullet through a vest" I was scared he was about to let someone shoot him with the blanket.
yeah, could you imagine purchasing this to save your family from an intruder, to only actually rely upon it to find a family member dead underneath it because it failed to stop a round it was rated for... .45 is a very common caliber. to not stop that means its not 3A... plain and simple
Didn't expect Matt to upload so soon after Mark passed, and expected him to take as much time as he needs... but the Demolitia always delivers. We love you Matt. Keep going strong as ever buddy. You honor Mark's memory every time you make a video.
Matt, I'd like to answer your question about what it feels like to be hit wearing body armor. have been hit several times wearing both hard, military armor, and soft more police/second chance armor in my old job. They. Both. Hurt. Like. A. Bitch. Especially the next morning. The hard pate armor for me was akin to getting hit in the chest with a bat, yes I have had that happen too. That is the closest thing I can compare it to. In the moment it happened, I didn't really feel all that much besides a blunt impact that took me off my feet. I took a minute to realize what had happened. In the soft vest, I have been hit with several calibers, and it ranges in pain levels. Yes, you are correct, it does usually break ribs, skin, and did once crack my sternum. Again, the initial shock ranges from not that bad all the way to doubling you over. Give it an hour for the adrenaline to wear off, then tell me how you feel. The next morning really sucks. I actually had a 9mm go almost totally through once, that was not fun and bled a LOT! If you have any questions I am more than happy to answer them. Love the channel, keep up the great work. -Austin
Austin, thank you for your service and hopefully you don't get shot at again but personally I have figured that it would hurt and perhaps brake bones and bruise, but a cracked sternum? That sounds intense hopefully this was not recently and if it was I hope you get better
Do you get used to the blunt trauma after awhile? Just curious, if you get shot at a lot, and actually get hit, would you eventually adapt to the pain, or trauma?
@@averageslayer8032 Sort of yes and sort of no. Physics are physics and if you take a direct hit, you are going to feel the impact of that round and nothing changes that. Keep in mind you are taking the full ballistic force of that round as it is stopping on your body versus it traveling through you as it was designed. I have seen people get hit with both rifle and pistol rounds in fatal areas and keep moving forward without slowing down, but when I have taken a hit in my armor or watched others do the same we are almost always knocked off our feet and generally need some time to regain composure. Adrenaline, and to a lesser extent conditioning and "being used to it" do play a small part now that I think about it but ultimately you are at the mercy of the ballistics of whatever hits you. So in that respect no. Where "being used to it" really comes in is a few moments after it happens. Once the initial shock and trauma wear off and you begin to recompose yourself, that's where understanding what just happened helps. It helps you be able to think through your issue and do what you need to do (self-aid or whatever) to shift your focus back to the much larger issue generally still at hand (the asshole who just shot you). So in that way, yes, being used to it does in a way help. It also helps you in the days after once the adrenaline and cortisol wear off better be able to recover and deal with whatever trauma (broken bones, gnarly bruises, poop stained underpants, etc.) you may be left with.
@@aaustinbond fascinating. I have a thing where i can quickly "get over something" physical. What i mean exactly, is that whenever i stub my toe, get punched hard, hit with an object etc, i usually handle it a lot better on the second occasion, and sometimes even ignore it. like a time i stubbed by toe really badly and couldnt really walk right for a bit, and the next time i stubbed my toe just as bad, i was able to act like it didnt even happen, and walk normally and pay no mind to it. though, the pain didnt decrease at all. i think my mind thinks "You've been through this once already, so you know what's coming." or something like that. though sometimes it doesnt always work that way, somethings you cant just shrug off and i'd assume getting shot, even with armor on, would be one of those things you cant easily shrug off as if it never happened. Thanks for responding to my question.
G a hi point a cheap low end pistol he made a video on awhile ago. Also no one cares. I made a harmless comment you felt the need to rant about your own cause gtfo dude 😂
Bullet proof vests and in this case blankets are not designed to take Alot of bullets, after 1 shots the fibers are damaged and the vest is weakened. After multiple shots it provides dramatically less protection. I would think that a brand new blanket Being shot with the slug would stop it. And thought the 44 mag was going through a "fresh part" the fibers are still damaged. This may be a faulty blanket but this was not a fair or accurate test.
@@elijahclarke3830 That is for hits in the same spot. Also, i am pretty darn sure it wouldn't stop the .44 mag if it was first up. Either way, you'd want armor that can take more than a couple of hits because a criminal won't stop shooting just because you got hit in the vest once. EDIT: As per NIJ Standard 0101.03, for it to be called 3A it must take 4 consecutive hits at 0 degrees angle of incidence and 2 hits at 30 degrees angle of incidence. So... More than one hit.
@@Mophony That's not the best idea. Considering that IIIA is rated for .44 Magnum SJHP and not FMJ, nor is it actually rated for any shotgun projectiles. All they would need to do is provide *one* video of it performing as advertised and they've proven no false advertising. Even just providing NIJ test results would prove there's no false advertising. A suit like that would blow up in his face.
Can we give Matt a round of applause for uploading and thinking of us while he himself is going through a very hard time of his own🙌🏻 we are praying for you and your family 🕊
I need to know where you got this information from because that is completely false and they were making bulletproof blankets for schools but this one in particular no they were not
That brought a smile to my face and a hearty laugh a few times. You sir have earned a subscriber. You should post a link to company so we know where to NOT buy from.
i was finally excited, not worried. id love to see some youtube videos of trained people shooting other trained people while wearing armor to see how they react, judge the pain, if they get knocked off their feet, etc
I completely agree making body and lying about it’s capabilities is highly negligent this is the type of thing someone uses to save their life im sure they’d rather spend their money on something that actually does what it’s advertised to do even if it costs more

The CIA Listen, I might have gone rogue, but I left my Snake and Samus amiibos in the Phoenix safehouse locker. Could you guys get those for me? Thanks
I feel like I’d be ok with having this in my kids bedroom. If someone breaks in and I need to defend the home, the kids can be told to hide in the corner behind their blankets. It’s not gonna stop most direct fire, but it will help out in stopping a stray bullet through a wall or two if the bad guy starts blindly firing. Other than that, this blanket is gonna get someone killed when they think it’s gonna stop direct fire.
It obviously stops direct fire up to .44 even though it's not stopping what it's rated to it still stops rounds fired directly into it even after soaking up multiple before
Orrr.....and this is a crazy thought....just don't shoot in the direction of where your kids are...(may be an unpopular thought but I'm sticking with it) mabye try aiming...(sorry but this is just a bad comment)
...says someone who thinks they are commando king and could never be in a running gun fight. Shut up "Chaser". Did you not see his comment about the bad guy blindly firing? You are an idiot - or can't read or think.
@@thecryptochaser3945 "bad guy starts firing blindly" No where does he say he will use his kiddo's room as a backstop... But bad guys are bad guys and do bad things.
The more kevlar gets shot, the more compromised its weave gets. Kevlar is kind of weaved together, and it spreads across the entire vest. When the bullet hits, it pulls on all of this weave, and spreads out the force to the whole area covered (each weave pulls on the weave attached, and they in turn pull on everything they're attached to as well), but it means it pulls into the area where it was hit. As it's pulled and clumped, it removes some of the stretch from other areas. It'll still work to some degree, but it's not as effective. So the manufacturer of the kevlar blanket may not be lying and you could have compromised it's 3A integrity by shooting it repeatedly.
Matt, I couldn't have written or said it better, but this guy is right. The blanket worked correctly. The more you shoot at it the more compromised the Kevlar gets. I was taught this more than 30 yrs ago as a young Marine, the more compromised the weaving gets the less effective it gets. So your results are faulty because of lack of research and testing.
Hopefully this hysteria wakes some people up for "preppers" practices. Stock up (it doesn't needs to be for two years...) before the shelves go empty and causing distributions problems for being selfish amidst the urban chaos.
@@darthkek1953 A pistol grip 12 gauge. Which makes it even more miraculous that he landed the first two on his vest from 10 or 15 yards. Hard to tell distance on a body cam.
When Matt starts questioning his life choices, you know the episode is going to be rough for him. Still love the armor-testing videos. Now we've learned something about that blanket. Don't buy it.
Matt: "We didn't bought a crazy thing from a strange country! We bought a BULLTPROOF BLANKET from the US!" Viewers from outside the US: "Wait a Minute...."

" I alway wondered how it would feel to be shot while having kevlar" "So we are gonna put something soft under the blanket" Darn i thought matt was gonna shoot himself
It feels like you're a meat pounded by the sledgehammer goes to ground🤣 To prevent to much punching impacts Simple, wear a juggernaut suit underneath to it🤣🤣🤣
"Since i believe in recycling, i just rolled over the watermelon, because the other side is good." ..."Not for long." Proceeds to cycle a badass shotgun.
The scariest part of this video wasn't wondering if the bulletproof blanket would save my life, but if the car door was going to hit that pillar her parked next to.
Matt, I’m really sorry for the loss of your brother. I recently lost my best friend overseas, I got out of the army he stayed in..feeling guilty as hell
@@richardmillhousenixon Wait, every video on youtube published on April 1 is a prank? Well damn I didn't know those were the rules. Fuck man there must have been a million videos published on youtube today. You should probably get to work letting everyone know they are all pranks.
