I keep reading people saying to run it in reverse. Both the drill bit and the chuck attachment appear to be threaded in the conventional clockwise orientation. It seems like the chuck attachment would just detach itself from the main splitter bit when (IF) it grabbed the wood. If I'm wrong about the two pieces becoming detached: I don't know how sharp these bits are, but bits that are designed for clockwise drilling tend to dull faster with reverse operation while you're trying to drill into the material. That would make sense if you think about the design of the threads and the angle of the "blade" edge of the threads in relation to the direction of the pressure towards the sharp edge of the threads that reverse drilling applies. The edge of a bit is essentially a spiral blade and I can only imagine putting pressure at something around 90 degrees (I think 90, right?) against the blade edge in the wrong direction than it was designed for would be very quickly catastrophically damaging to the blade. It would be like trying to put a small pocket knife into a drill chuck and using the knife in place of a drill bit. The edge on the knife would just be destroyed in a very dirty time - wrong direction of pressure.

☆very SHORT time... I've officially gotten too old to even know how to edit my own comments.

You need at least 1500W for that

I think you had the drill going in the wrong direction that’s why it was not grabbing and you were only drilling small little holes

Wood splits along the grain, start at end going lengthwise. Stand it up vertically and go top down, which is normally how you'd split with hatchet, axe, or wedge. It is strongest across grain which is side to side. IMHO, wedge splitting maul is fastest. Cheers

You don't seem to return to your old video posts, to respond to questions.

I've seen other videos for these and they seem to need to be run in reverse.

The design flaw with these drill bits is they are not auger style. The threads are to close to allow for the wood scraps to be escape and so it binds. Just by an auger stype drill bit say at least 1 1/4 inch wide or more and drill numerous holes until log becomes weak and can be broken with a sledge hammer. Nontheless this is not fastest method to splitting wood.

^like he said! It's supposed to be on the end of a log. Try it that way.

His drill is in reverse just like a screw when you have it in reverse, it comes out

*Nope. His drill is moving in the clockwise direction (which is the forward gear).* If you doubt me, feel free to play the video at ¼ speed & see for yourself. Fact. *To be clear: counterclockwise is the reverse/backward direction. 👍🏼*

That's not a drill... That's a screwdriver. I have the exact same one. You can only drill Styrofoam and drywall with it 😝. But I'll be fair. There seems to be several videos where this same product is failing lol

You’re trying to split wood that’s already been split, and even with those you’re not splitting them from the ends where you’d usually split a log.
