YES! Atmosphere! These guys got this metal/hardcore guy into hip hop with this album back in the mid 2000s. Become would be a great track. Eyedea and Abilities is another great act from this scene.

Trying to find a balance, the woman with the tattooed hands, modern man’s hustle, lovelife. There are so many to list, he’s a great story teller. Just gotta dive in fellas.

the song is about expectations of a 'rap' song in the time it was produced Building up the assumption of where the song will go and then diverts expectation till was full --> not a superhero --> pays for his cigarettes' Car left running --> extra $1.50 ('rich people') --> the glance (ill pray for you ~ he looked like a 'criminal') --> "already knew the deal" (knows how she sees him & resigns himself to reality) lit one up & walk... the family goes on their way ~ diverting expectation again 'thugs' on the corner --> showing off artwork... yet again, diverting expectation + a reflection of self (which has to do with the end of the song & the culture we create) Kid with a gun who looks scared --> Apprehensive --> kid is just trying to do something good (diverting expectation) takes gun --> Bad Man vs Good Man with a gun (comment about evil & smelling trouble) Having 'power' and how one handles it Over on the corner saw what he needs --> Puts it in a Mailbox (not someone's mailbox :: one that only the post office has a key to) he does not want it, needs to get rid of it safely (diverting expectation) at the end of the song after we divert expectation we can walk through some assumed throwaway lines -- ~another manic monday its gonna be a long walk~ the thoughts that infest our mind can be both good and bad -- but its how we handle the situation every chance we get thinking of our story of self -- Reflecting on what we do -- reflecting the universe *& those situations always come back home to you* but maybe that's just my take on it ;) hope this helps & by far my favorite Atmosphere song

I've watched this more times than I care to admit and the one thing I wanna say is, I have no proof about this, but the bar about leaving the gun in the mailbox may have been a dig at the USPS cause back in the 80's there was a trend of postal workers shooting up their place of work, hence the term "going postal". So him saying the mailman knows what's best to do with it got me thinking.

Minneapolis has all the good independent musicians, and they will always rep their hometown. Like Prince said, “it’s so cold it keeps the bad people out.” 💜 Hair is another example of Slug’s great storytelling…really short song too. (This one was actually 2 songs…Say Shh was a hidden bonus track on the Seven’s Travels album.) Some other great songs from this particular album are Good Times (Sick Pimpin’), Gotta Lotta Walls, and Reflections. And God Loves Ugly has some amazing songs as well…might as well just go through that whole album. 😂 And because I’m a Prince fan first, I have to recommend Face Down and Da, Da, Da from the Emancipation album. Both great hip hop tracks. Sexy MF, Days of Wild, 18 & Over, and Acknowledge Me also have P spitting bars. 😂💜 Face Down has a great music video to go along with it too. It was when P changed his name to a symbol and became an independent artist. The music video is basically a funeral for Prince and a lot of shade is thrown at critics. “Never respected the root of all evil, and he still don’t to this day. Bury me face down and let the muthafuckas kiss a ass, okay?” 😂🔥

There is a video titled Logic and Tech N9ne freestyle backstage on youtube. It’s only 2 minutes long but I feel like you both would really like it and y’all should react to it (it has to do with fast rapping)

The whole song is an anti-gangsta rap song. He keeps setting up our expectations for crimes to happen and then going the other way to subvert our expectations. That he's going to rob the corner mart. That he's going to steal the running car. He's going to hook up with the mom. That there's going to be trouble with the kids hanging out in the street, that's he's going to get mugged with some kid with a gun. But it's just about trying to live a life. And you see that in the second part of the song in that rather than "Make some noise!!!" it's "Everybody say shhh." And the airplane interlude and the pause, you might notice the overall length of the track is 9:11. That overall themes are get home, live your life.
