Banjo, yes But Conker, NO! His game is just too brutal and inappropriate to crossover with such An innocent and friendly world as DK's But I do believe that both Banjo and Conker would have been playable fighters by now in Super Smash Brothers if Nintendo didn't abandon Rare (which was an unforgivable and extremely despicable act)
I don't know how canon the SSBU cinematics are to anything, but Diddy, DK, and K. Rool definitely knew Banjo and Kazooie based on their reactions to the bear and bird's arrival.
It's because Banjo-Kazooie were bought by Microsoft and it belonged to Rareware. Donkey Kong too belonged to rareware, so it's like "Oh cool they're back in a nintendo game"
@@opalfruits7095 False, Donkey Kong was always a trademark from nintento, however the games 3 OG donkey kong countrys and DK 64 belong to rare along with the three banjo games. They also own tiny, chunky and lanky kong. Tiny made an appearence in Diddy kong racing DS because rare could develop for handheld nintendo games because it wasnt in direct competition with Microsoft's products.
I FOUND SOMETHING BIG In the original donkey country there's a level by candy a shop called very gnawtys lair. In banjo kazooie click click woods there's is a beaver there that you help named gnawty. Boom
Just sounds like a nod to a character name tbh. It's like saying GTA V Takes place in the Sonic universe because there's a jewlery store named SuperSonic
By that logic, yes. Which means that they share a universe with the Sonic team as well, since Mario and Sonic have been chummy for the last decade. And since Sonic actually races against Banjo in the Xbox version of Sega Superstar Racing, then that is a second connection that confirms that they share the same world. I'm sure Spyro and Crash could fit in there somewhere as well. This is like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with video game characters!
In Banjo Kazooie, there is the infamous "ice key", located in the "freezeezy peak" snow level. The ice key is also an item that can be collected in dk64 via gameshark. So right behind that northern point of the DC3 map (snow) lies freezeezy peak from banjo kazooie.
I don't know all of the details but I'm pretty sure it was meant to be a crossover where you would unlock the key in both games. Beta64 covered it in his BK episode I think.
@@sawyerswitzer I'm gonna reply to your 3 years old message with a 3 years old message of my own to say : What if it was both a crossover event and the same area?
+Whitefright The interdimensional wormhole between Nintendoland and the DK isles was forever closed by the Dark Gods of Microsoft. +SwankyBox The next step is finding where that wormhole was. At first it would seem that it was somewhere in the Northern Kremisphere seeing as how since the closing, Banjo and Conker have appeared on their home turfs and Donkey Kong and other Nintendo characters have returned to DK's SUPPOSED home in the Kongo Jungle in games like Brawl and later interations of Mario Party and Mario Kart, but at a closer glance its not the same home DK had in DKC or DK64. Only a cheap imitation. Maybe DK and his family are in on the secret. Maybe they have been instructed to remain silent or meet the fate of so many 90s anthropomorphic platformers. Maybe they are in the dark about it. Maybe they're REPTOIDS. OR KREMTOIDS! And speaking of replacements, what about the other Characters caught in the aftermath? neither DK, Conker, or Banjo appeared for several years after "The Xboxening" and when they did there was something...different about them. What happened during that time? Could this be linked to how Funky Kong went from Stoner Surfer Pilot, to Mechanic in hiding, to Arms Merchant?
Oh man the things would happen if Conker and Kazooie interacted... People would die... And Banjo, seeing how much Conker has changed, would try to either rekt him or help him rehabilitate from his addictions and mental problems overall
"if Conker and Kazooie interacted". Conker:"Hey babe! Have you heard about that donkey guy that made choo choo with a dragon lady?" Kazooie:"Yeah! And they had children. I'm still trying to figure it out how!" Conker:"I always wondered how it's to make choo choo with a dragon lady and I heard you can transform into a dragon!" Kazooie:"And I heard you squirrels have great care of your nuts and you don't want to lose them!"
If Banjo is in the same universe as Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong and Mario can cross paths, does that mean that Banjo is in the same universe as Mario?!?
This was fun to watch, but I'm pretty sure Rare just came up with worlds for each game series as they went without thinking too much about it. F'rinstance, how do you explain DK Isle, which has a completely different structure in DKC & DK64?
I had the same problem as a child but then I found out that you have to press the A-button repeatedly instead of pressing it constantly while driving. That's how I finally beat Diddy Kong Racing.
Mario takes place in the DK universe, since Donkey Kong has appeared in a couple of Mario games. Even though they're mostly non canon, they still take place in the Mario Universe. Also, Donkey Kong Country Returns has a track in Mario Kart 7.
I could not click the subscribe button hard enough. Excellent job! And... ONE OF US. ONE OF US. I've done a bunch of videos on the Donkey Kong series as well, and if you want to check 'em out, I hope you enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed this!
Just a note: When Diddy's Kong Racing came out, both Banjo and Conquer games had been announced and shown... so if you were big in video game magazines and TV shows, you would've known. It was not any kind of secret.
Honestly you would be a perfect person to go on DKvine why Infact I think I'll link this video in the comments of the newest Kongversation on RU-vid I think they will love your video
5 months later and I forgot to tell you, you got mentioned on the Kongversation and your theory did too. 5 months ago I made the comment I'm replying to and in the end, a few days later ended up getting you a lot more popular and mentioned on the Kongversation
@@Lichzim Which Kongversation was that one? Could you please tell me which one it was called specifically and around which time in the video Swankybox and his video here was mentioned?
Yeah I definitely agree, they're all in the same universe, it's like how the old disney cartoons like ducktales, darkwing duck, etc are all the same as Mickey, rare did the same, I honestly believe it's the same world but it also depends on dimensions, sort of like DC comics, it's all the same but different. These dimensions are connected to Nintendo world as well.
To be fair, I love imagining that all these worlds are connected, I do this in multiple game series. I don't picture the world map as THE WORLD map, but rather an island in a series of islands all close together much like the Canary Islands in the real world. Each "world" is merely an island, makes everything feel sooo much bigger. I feel Banjos world no exception to this, isle o hags seems like an area of Donkey Kong Country that we just simply haven't explored until Banjo Kazooir came out. Basically playing through all these games is like a road trip through the Rareware Islands. With Isle Delfino and the Mushroom kingdom on the opposite end of the Nintendo continent.
If you buy the Banjo-Kazooie Games on Xbox, you'll support Rare and made them think a bit into making a true Sequel to the Banjo-Tooie. Rare needs fan support right now, the lack of fan support made them think that nobody would be interested for Banjo-Threeie, so they ended up making Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts. The real problem is that Rare's Fans are also Nintendo fans and most of them wouldn't want or can't buy an Xbox just to play the Games. Rare games are on the wrong gaming platform. Most people buy an XBox to play Halo and 1st person shooters. The target demographic of the XBox are 1st person shooter player and not Nintendo fans.
Sonic also exists in the same world as Mario due to the Olympic games! So does Little Mac, Kirby and Link because.... -Mario is referee in Punch Out -Mario is seen in a Kirby game which means -Kirby is in a Zelda game
For Drumstick, there should be a frog in the pond under the main waterfall with a rooster crest on it, and if you run it over you unlock Drumstick. For TT you have to beat his time trial time on every race in the game to unlock him. I never got TT either lol
Project Kishon Fire for something as obscure as that, how would anyone of figured that out to unlock Drumstick? Unlocking TT would of been a pretty obvious one though with all the various Time Trials.
Does TT stand for Trophy Thomas? If it does, there's a character in Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts(Ya know, the one everyone hates) named Trophy Thomas. OMG MICROSOFT OF ALL PEOPLE HELPS THIS THEORY!.......TWICE!......It made a mario reference....
Ok, so I may be wrong here, but the whole thing about Isle o' Hags being near the Nothern Kremisphere due to the snow men is a slightly tenuous link. I'm totally on board with the idea that Banjo is part of DK3's bear Brothers, except I'd wonder where Tooty fits in all of that, and that it's all the same world. But the doors in Grunty's lair that lead to the worlds, I thought at least, weren't actually leading to locations within the lair, it was just another place on the planet, warped magically or whatever. Having said that, we could say that while Isle o' hags not being in the Northern Kremisphere, Freezeezy Peak and Click Clock Wood definitely are, due to the presence of the Snowmen. I'm pretty sure Fungus Forest could also serve as another connection. There are also a notable amount of sailors/pirates in the Banjo series as well, showing that wherever this is, piracy is viable career choice, for men and kroc alike
I always wondered about this stuff as a kid. When I got Diddy Kong Racing for Christmas in 1997, I was actually aware that Banjo and Conker were going to have their own games because I read about Banjo-Kazooie and the ill-fated Conker's Quest in Nintendo Power. It blew my mind that these characters existed in the same universe and I could only imagine what king of crossovers and adventures would happen with the other DKR characters. Sadly, that never came to be as Donkey Kong and Rare's characters are no longer part of the same universe. In fact, in Diddy Kong Racing DS, I think some of the non DK characters had to be licensed from Rare.
You are wrong, they still part of the Mario/Donkey Kong Universe, even after the Microsoft Buyout they did not forget about it,in Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts Banjo mentions that he was in a race with "a Genie and a Giant Pig" making Diddy Kong Racing 100% canon.
+ExpansionPack Deluxe It isn't that simple. For legal reasons, they could not mention Diddy Kong at all and in the DS remake, Banjo doesn't appear in the game at all. While most players were meant to know what the reference stood for, for the sake of legal and licensing reasons, it is nothing more than a randomly spoken sentence.
Jon-Erich Smith In Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts there was a Quiz, one of Question is: Which game featured a Banjo appearance but wasn't a Banjo game? A - Diddy Kong Racing B - Killer Instinct C - Grabbed by the Ghoulies D - Time Lord And they did get away with it three Freaking Times! In Banjo-Kazooie,Banjo-Tooie and anjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. There was even a Super Mario Bros Question Block in Banjoland.
+ExpansionPack Deluxe But you're never going to see them in together in the same game unless there's a licensing deal of some kind. At this point, saying that Banjo exist's in Mario/Donkey Kong's world is like saying Mario and Sonic co-exist in the same world just because they both appeared together in the Olympic games. The difference is Diddy Kong Racing was canon at some point in time. It is not canon anymore. The only reason you hear about it at all is because Banjo characters will break the 4th wall and acknowledge that they're just video game characters.
+Jon-Erich Smith Banjo confirmed that themself twice, even Rare confirmed than in Diddy Kong Racing's Manuel that Banjo,Conkey and Tiptup are Diddy Kong's Close Friends. The Instument you see in the Intro of Banjo-Kazooie were brought from Candy Kong's Music Shop, the Instument lies there since 1999.
Something else to think about, just what other universes are, well, the same universe? Sure, Conker, Banjo and DK all seem to be set on the same planet, and of course the DK games seem to take place in the same world as the Mario games. But, there's also a lot of links between TLoZ and the Mario universe too, and not forgetting that Final Fantasy has crossed over with Mario atleast 3 times now. Although it could be argued that due to design and the nature of the Final Fantasy universe (Each game being set on a seemingly different world alltogether), that the characters in the Mario Sports games may just mean that the Mushroom Kingdom has a lot of similar characters to the Final Fantasy series
I always assumed that a Warp Pipe could potentially connect the Mushroom World to Hyrule. There's no other way to really explain how Mario & Co cameo in so many LoZ games spanning so many generations of Link and Zelda. I SUPPOSE one could also argue that Mario & Co's exploits were so grand that they remained in Hyrule's history for generations, and the Link in SMRPG is the only one that canonically existed alongside Mario.
While this is fun, the simple answer is that it was the same studio, same artists, same designers, that's why it all seems so relative, and they are all linked with these various elements just because they are all derived from the same thoughtpool. I don't think they were ever designed to be geographically cohesive or to have taken place in the same world physically.
Caught me red handed..... a cartographer for the mushroom world and banjos world.... actually, I would love that job and be on that in a heartbeat! :3 ❤
I think it would be cool if there was a Rareware open world game where you could explore all of their islands and could choose between the Rare characters. :D It would also be cool if the 3 main villains teamed up, bringing with them their classic henchmen. :D
Banjo-Kazooie games don’t take place in the Northern Kremlinsphere and here’s why, In Banjo - Tooie when you reach Cloud Cuckoo land when you see down to the main land you can see Isle o’ Hags completely. This includes Spiral Mountain, Isle o’ Hags, and all the worlds you visit connecting to the island.
Link, mario and sonic are Also connected, you can see in DKC 2. Cranky's heroes are link mario and yoshi. And sonic. You can see his shoes. Does this mean that all of the gaming universes are one?
Ok so the Mushroom Kingdom is an alternate Earth where fungi have taken over everything and Dinosaurs still exist. Ice Climbers and Wario and Yoshi also take place in this world. When DK kidnapped Marios old girlfriend from before he left normal Earth, he escaped thanks to DK Jr. A while later, after Mario and Luigi stumbled upon the Mushroom Kingdom while plumbing, Mario finally rediscovered the magical pipe that led him to that world and decided to find Pauline. He found her and invited her to the Mushroom World to show her his accomplishments and new toy company (After NSMB2 Mario used the coins to create a karting company, wicked parties, sports games, and a TOY COMPANY (MvsDK in case you didnt know)), but DK followed them into the pipe and kidnapped her again. After the rest of the MvsDK series, DK invited his family into the Mushroom Kingdom but they were caught and Mario finally sent them away to a distant land... So Banjo, Mario, and DK are all connected...
I just assumed all the nintendo characters just lived in the same world in lands widely spread out from each other, with star fox and such beyond off world. All and all, they’re all in the Nintendo universe so what ever. 😋
Fungi Forest from DK64 was originally a level planned for Banjo-Tooie. MORE CROSS-OVER! Even if it is clutching at straws, it certainly is fun to wonder... :^)
No, it originally WAS Banjo-Kazooie. The painting is a reference to an old concept demo for a 2.5D game Banjo was supposed to originally supposed to be introduced in. The game was scrapped, and became a 3D game with all the models being re-used for Banjo-Kazooie.
To me they live on the same universe and the same worlds and they’re friends at Diddy Kong Racing and friends for life. Yeah they live on different islands 🌴 and the Brother Bears 🐻 don’t have Banjo as a brother maybe he a cousin. I know that they’re from Rare but deep down Banjo-Kazooie and Conker are still Nintendo at heart ❤️
Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing has an info screen for each character. If you look at Banjo's info in the 360 version, it says his first game is Diddy Kong Racing. Not to mention, the box art for Grabbed by the Ghoulies has "From the makers of Donkey Kong Country and Banjo Kazooie. Is this allowed?!
That was a bit of a ret con between games. They were all wearing baseball caps in the first game and were effectively genderless; Soggy wasn't identified as a girl until the sequel. But the name issue still raises the question with Moggy and Groggy - both are male, neither have 'B' names.
imthecomgeek No, but it's confirmed that Conker is really in the same universe as Mario, I mean Diddy Kong Racing is considered canon and everybody knows that Donkey Kong and Mario live in the same universe too, so there you go, CRAZY!!!
