Does Congress Fear the Intel Community?

In an interesting interview between Joe Rogan and Tucker Carlson, Tucker suggested that it is a foregone conclusion that our elected officials are afraid of the intelligence community. This, of course, suggests that members of Congress are in some way being blackmailed…so here is the question…how do we separate crackpot conspiracy theories from that which is entirely plausible? And that is the question we are going to discuss and answer in this episode of Making the Argument.

Im going to disagree with one single example- slavery. The constitution and bill of rights clearly intended all men to be equal, and yet another superfluous law had to be specified to end slavery. Thats a play on words, a manipulation of a loophole. The constitution and bill of rights should be interpreted by people with common sense before politicians have a field day making laws based on political advantage or lobbying laws that profit for producers- electric cars....... Also, why is there not a constitutional.scholar that has yay/nay input on laws up for vote???

90% in agreement with your instinct. But 10% of me hedges at “class warfare” and the knee jerk flaming of wealth. Is Trump corrupt because of his wealth? Was Ross Perot? Is Elon Musk? Was Henry Ford? As a solution, at every election, I would challenge every candidate to disclose and even brag about how they earned their wealth. Then we could judge what means of wealth accumulation stands apart from mere corruption.

Not that they were that way when they took office. Such as trump. He made his fortune long before becoming a politician. My dad served in the 60s. He was a Green Beret. He was really badly wounded -- took a machete to the neck -- during Operation Dragon Rouge, the evacuation of Belgian nationals from the Congo. It was a Belgian operation, but the US loaned them a bunch of transport planes and sent the Green Berets in to secure the airport. My dad's unit was securing an entrance when they got overrun by Simba. After he got out of the hospital, he was put on light duty and stationed at Groom Lake, aka Area 51. He was stationed at a guard post with orders to shoot the other guard if he tried to enter the base. His buddy had the same orders. They routinely saw "UFOs" fly in and out of the base. They had orders to never talk about anything they saw, and my dad didn't for years. Flashforward to 1989 and the USAF declassified the SR-1 Blackbird, allowing the press to show photos of it for the first time. I was 13 and watching the MacNeil/Lehrer Report with him and my mom when the news broke. My dad, normally a pretty stoic dude, jumped out of his seat and started excitedly pointing at the TV saying "I knew it! I knew it!" Because he'd seen the SR-1 Blackbird, or a prototype, flying in and out of Groom Lake. So yeah, I totally believe the "UFO conspiracy" was mostly the CIA screwing with Russian intelligence to keep them guessing about our skunkworks. From when I was 3 to when I was 6, I saw him maybe two weeks out of the year, and he spent the rest of the year in the Sudan. We all thought he was working for Chevron as a foreman setting up oil wells. After he died, we found paperwork confirming that he'd actually been working for the CIA the whole time he was in Africa. But he was also working for Chevron. So I also believe the intelligence community and the oil industry are all up in each other's business.

Manipulation is the trade of the intelligence community. They are good at it. Think of all the things they could demonstrate they prevented. Then, think about how the FBI orchestrated the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping/murder plot to influence an election. The intelligence community can do the same and no one gets to cross examine anyone. Their story stands alone. I'm no pro, but I'm sure I could concoct a series of stories that would convince almost anyone to support reauthorization of FISA. The Democrats in congress got professionals to put together their January 6th docudrama. The CIA has professionals in-house.

The villain of the story never sees themselves as the villain
@formes2388
@formes2388 Месяц назад
The three evils: 1. The hapless fool - this one is basically a villain by proxy. What they are doing is more or less "That's the way things are done". 2. The Knowing Villain - This type of villain KNOWS they are the villain, they have an objective, and - for whatever reason, have determined doing the cruel, evil thing is necessary to expedite getting to a better state. This is the type of evil, that you can rationalized and debate OUT OF doing the evil thing, provided you can act soon enough. And then there is the actual worst type of evil: 3. The True Believer - This evil believes they are purely good. Everything they are doing is for the righteous good. You can not rationalize with this person, you can not convince them outside of brute force. The easiest one to write is the first. The current desired is the second - but it ends up looking more like the third do to... bad writing, and poor character development. Putin is the second - when you dig into the history. The reality is, Russia once, in the aftermath of the fall of the USSR, approached about the future POSSIBILITY of joining NATO which would have ended it's security concerns, but the US rejected the idea flat out - despite the fact it would have basically been a tool to push Russia into adhering to western ideology through legal structures and such, along with been a tool to help guide economic integration. The next problem you get, is the cult of the True Believer - and that, perpetuates it, unless you use heavy brute force to stop it.
@Mortiel

@@formes2388The primary flaw in your "three evils" idea is that it's for writing fictional stories. In real life, everyone falls in a grey zone between #1 and #3 on every single subject. I find it highly doubtful that Putin literally knows he's the "baddie". Firstly, none of us know what he's thinking. That said, the way humans work is that they create a story in our head where we are the good guy and our thoughts/actions are justified. Stalin, Hitler, Mao... Widely considered some of the biggest monsters in history, publicly and privately stated they thought what they were doing was for the good for their vision of their utopia. They were absolutely delusional and I would guarantee they didn't see themselves as the villain.

@@formes2388 I think your breakdown assumes that there is no actual evil for evil's sake. There absolutely is. There are truly depraved psychopaths who just want whatever they want and don't care what it takes to get it. Sometimes what they want is just to cause the suffering, death, and destruction of others. What others do as a means to an end, they do as an end in itself because they take pleasure in the suffering of others. There may or may not be a lot of them, but these people absolutely do exist, and you're more likely to find them the higher up you climb the power ladder. Nick, dagnambit, we need more like you! This is one of the best explanations of political motivations I have heard in a long time. Thing is, politics (from what I was taught) is a process of coming to the middle. My unscientific version of this is "When both groups come out grumbling about an agreement, they probably did the right thing". Overall. NOT saying that some things aren't flat wrong, and that should be fought tooth and nail, but generally. We are at a point however, where the parties are too entrenched and not willing to give. And one party (the GOP), has been too easy to give ground. OTOH, there is a certain group within the GOP that is obstructing decent bills for myopic reasons. And the other party that puts poison pills in every damn thing they propose. It's ridiculous, and hasn't always been this way.

I watched as a fellow using a few parts he bought from Radio Shack and a pineapple juice can to build an antennae, point it at another window in the complex so we could see what was on that students computer, on HIS computer. He pointed out, he could open up any program on her computer, such as an email, and send one, using her computer, and she would never know. Yeah, he closed everything up and didn't do that, he wanted to point out how easy it was. So yes, any truly elite hacker working for the gubmint can drop a gift onto your comp. Why plant a key of smack? That doesn't disgust or terrify people. But going to prison for kiddy porn? It is a death sentence and everyone knows it.

And by the way, only thanks to Rush and Levin did I realize to go even farther out and listen to Alex Jones. And THEN I found Nick Frietas. The Right is absolutely the shit; it's journalists protected me from taking the jab. Thank you, Right wing Leaders: absolutely heros to me.

Did you watch Mike Johnson & his kind of squirley way he wouldn't connect after the funding Ukraine bill? Seriously a different demeanor than when he first took the speaker position. Yep after the "closed door black" meeting. Seemed odd behavior to me

I would characterize the CIA as the covert wing of the State Department in much the same way the DIA is a covert wing of the Defense Department. Mission creep over the decades has caused the primary allegiance of both agencies to drift towards the pool of alphabet agencies and away from what is their overt chain of command.

I just found your channel, and so glad I did! And thank you for this conversation, it helps me so much to think through this Pompeo issue, which has really bothered me, on a much deeper level. I agree with you, unless we know all the particulars and details of a story, we really can't make judgements.

Nick, I have been going to school to be a teacher for a few years now and I go to a very liberal school in a very conservative city (oxymoron?). One thing that has been brought up is Social Emotional Learning (SEL). I know that conservatives have been trying to fight against SEL for many years now and what I have tried to find is why? I have done some research and all I could find was that there is no agreed-upon reason for not wanting SEL in schools. The schools that I have done my field experiences in, there are students who are not supported by their parents. What I mean is, yes they live with their parents but their parents are either unable to take care of themselves let alone their children or they are too wrapped up in their own drama to actually care for their children. I can't see a problem with SEL in schools because the children don't get that lesson from home. Where am I wrong? I honestly want to know so that I can do the right thing as a teacher. Thank you

If I were to guess, I would assume conservatives feel that SEL is just another tool that higher education will use to further indoctrinate their children to be little Marxists.

Chem Trails, hmmmm. Ok not tin foil. Lookup Weather Modification Inc and/or SOARS and include NOAA. Then do some basic tracking using something like Flightradar 24 app. You'll see flights one day and then tornado's/severe weather a couple of days later due to the seeding in the general area. It's not just going on CONUS but various parts of the globe. My question is what exactly is seeding material composed of?

I find it fascinating that voting is not compulsory in America - in Australia,you get a fine if you do not vote - love this channel, only discovered it today - it’s explained a lot of stuff to me in easy language - it’s also interesting that they were saying it’s the system causing it - Jordan Peterson said that people say Elon Musk says things he shouldn’t because he is in a position of power, but Jordan said that people in power tow the line and keep their heads down in order to keep their position and you go along with the group to keep your position AND Tina is awesome
