The crash bars on my 2005 gold wing don’t let any part of bike touch the ground. Believe me.. I dropped it quite a few times while practicing slow speed maneuvers. And was certainly thankful for the protection the bars provided.
Crash bars on heavy bikes are a must, but buying from Ali Express is a definite NO!. You don't even know if they have the same strength as the Wunderlich or Illiumworks. As you already see it is faulty design.
I would remove the engine guard and the paniers guard as well. It makes the bike look ugly. I would take my chances without them. The fact that you mentioned your shin gets caught sometimes, this is a no brainer. The fairing though they might be expensive is worth way less than a broken shin bone. Just practice slow speed maneuvers instead.
Agreed. I am seriously thinking of it. Perhaps I will do some serious slow speed practice to get comfortable over the next few days with the guards and then remove them.
I just got the wunderlich bars front and rear installed and i can open panniers without any potential impact and also without having to pull the pannier to avoid contact. I don't understand why anyone would go cheap on aliexpress bars on a premium 30k motorbike. Makes no sense to me. Good video though.
Hi, fair point. It is just that I didn’t spend anywhere close to $30k for this. The used market is is flooded with fairly new ones for less than half of the cost of a new one. I think many folks are selling this due to high cost of maintenance or just get tired of the weight. Hence, my irrational mind doesn’t want to spend that much when an accessory costs a significant % of the purchase price! However, I do see that the bolts of such accessories are not of good quality and may rust - a serious issue that would damage the mount point too. I will be watching out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Hi, I don’t have experience with RT1250. I do have a R1200 GSA. I find that very easy to move around the garage. I can walk that quite easily. I can’t walk this one. Also GSA feels like extension of your body at slow speed. This feels planted as your speed increases. The sound is a major differentiator. The twin boxers sound quite passive when compared with the inline 6. Feels like difference between propeller planes and a jet!
😂 These are actually on huge discounts now in used market now (at least where I live). I didn’t spend much actually. I think these fine machines are a huge bargain because of potential maintenance cost.
