I was first introduced to dermarollering back in 2009 by Cosmetic Surgeon Norman Leaf, and recently was very impressed by some before and after shots from Dr Des Fernandes of Environ. So I am going to get back to it with a 0.2mm roller and the GloPro.
A WORD OF WARNING - YOU MUST STERILISE YOUR DERMAROLLER BETWEEN USES and do not use on active acne.
It works on fine lines, pigmentation, enlarged pores and scars, even acne scars, but sometimes need the help of a professional clinical treatment at a deeper depth with topical anaesthetic.
In this video I chat about how it works, what depth to choose and what skin care to team your dermaroller with.
The gadgets mentioned here are
* Environ CIT Focus Stamp - www.environskin...
* Dermaroller 0.2mm - see similar here www.amazon.co....
* GloPro - gloprobeauty.c...

Have to say it seems to be working for my extensively scarred skin. I've had a couple of professional sessions which were extremely painful and I use a roller at home. I have to say that to do my whole face properly it definitely takes longer than a minute, usually up to 10 minutes if I follow the face map my dermatologist gave me. Anyone thinking of trying it should go for it but please don't over do it, the skin needs time to heal.

I have been using a Derma Roller for about 3 months now. 0.5 about every 2 1/2 weeks. I am very careful and let the device do the work. I don not apply pressure, and I have never made myself bleed. I have noticed a slight improvement. It will take months to really see results. I do my lips as well, very gently. My skin is left very red and hot (feels like a sunburn). This goes away in hours. My products absorb quickly. My face & lips feel slightly plumped the next morning, but nothing that anyone would notice but me. I believe Derma Rolling works. It takes using the device regularly. I am looking forward to see how my skin looks in 6 months or so. Derma Rolling can not be rushed. As you said you MUST be very careful, and sanitize before and after each use. And NEVER EVER share your Derma Roller.

Please don't do it with makeup on ! Be careful what roller do you use, 540 needle rollers are cheap made and has dangerous metal wheels inside which can scar your face, I have done video what is inside 540 needle derma roller and what they are made of, I only recommend 192 REAL needle medical grade derma roller.

i use .75 mm at home & its really helping my skin texture, acne scars & fine lines. i swear by it! i even noticed a difference in some photos before & selfies taken after when i wasn't looking for results. that's when i realized how much my skin has improved. i was really surprised! i do it about every 5 - 6 weeks & i'm really careful. i won't go higher than that at home though. it is working great, this last time a few days ago i'm really pleased with the results.

I was avoiding my lip area but I just saw a video by @lookyoungerwithdebbie, an amazing RU-vidr who is almost 60, look like she could be in her 20's and has been an aesthetician for 30 years. She uses a dermaroller to plump her lips which are beautiful. If you're used to it or brave I think you can use a dermaroller on the lips. (I'd use it there last or have a separate roller for the lips to make sure it's sterile.) It may not be for everyone or for sensitive skin. I heard one doctor say not to be afraid of a little blood as it means it's going deep enough to really work. (For longer needles.) It really is wonderful, and such an inexpensive thing. 🌸

In the event that you never found out the length of the GlowPRO needles the face attachment is 0.3, the eye attachment is 0.3, the lip attachment is 0.2, and the body attachment is 0.5. They now make a new scalp attachment to assist with hair growth but I don’t know what the length of the needles are.

Hello Nadine! What a pretty accent you have and much natural beauty! I recently learned of this procedure and was concerned that people would use this incorrectly and have infections or problems from cleanliness or incorrect use. I do wish that you would mention that preparing the skin is important prior to using this and also that researching how to recover and what to apply on the skin after usage would be important as well. I am considering using this but I am lucky I live in the Northeast and don't have a lot of wrinkles even at 63 people often mistake me for a woman in my 40s--I think I have lucky genes but we also do not get a lot of sun here and I do not sit in the sun, drink (ever) or smoke--and eat a lot of veggies so I think this helps. I will also research the tria laser that someone else commented on here and talk to my Dermatologist prior to using this as the last thing I need is to scar my face! Thank you for your video and best of luck to you!

I use a 0.5 mm Derma Roller once a week, and a 1.00 mm once every 6 weeks. I use professional numbing cream on the area upon which is to be rolled for 45 minutes (or longer) because it can be painful. The cream is washed off before starting the treatment.,I follow a very strict area "map" and pattern for rolling with the 1 mm. It is NOT the popular 10x vertical, 10X horizontal, then 10x diagonally in both directions. That only leaves one with a central area that has been maimed, with surrounding areas that have been treated in various degrees of treatment that is basically, just unknown. Sterilization is done to everything, including the skin before beginning. I use both high grade isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide on the rollers. On my skin, I use my bio serums such as Vit. A (Retinol), Vit. C, 15%, ( which, yes, stings, as does the Niacinimide). A Vitamin E oil, which, by this time is welcome, because it is soothing. If my face and still stings, I apply a layer of pure Aloe Vera, and lay down with a cool,damp tool towel over my face/neck, until it all absorbed. TIP: If one is subject to cold soars, the lip edges areas should be avoided. The cold soars can be easily spread by the roller. I learned this tip the hard way. And I didn't even have a noticeable cold soar at all at the time. The ultimate change in my skin, both face and neck, are amazing. I had also lost almost 100 lbs. and had a lot of saggy skin on my face and neck. I really like your videos!

I realize this is a year old but just wanted to say I am 55 and just started using the Dr. Pen at .75. Last night I used it for the very first time actually. I'm wondering @Liz Miller , what is your face " map " that you use ? I also want to get the best results within a tight beauty budget. There's so much conflicting info on the internet it's confusing. Next month when I bump up to a 1.00 i want to do it right. I have a lot of sagging that bothers me the most, esp at my jawline. Thank you very much for your reply, I hope you see this message !!
@garyblum3301
@garyblum3301 4 года назад
So, Liz, you use a professional numbing cream on the area which is to be rolled for 45minutes, then wash it off before you do demarolling ? If left on, I suppose, it could cause some inflammation . You use Retinol, after micro rolling, I thought that was way too harsh for the skin, and could actually cause a burn or a scar, on your skin ? Kinda confused about that ? I did like your comment, you were detailed, and sounds easy enough, Thank you , for your input, Liz. Carol Smith

Hi Nadine, I know this is an old video, so I really hope you'll still read this (and respond). I've just been investigating this as a possibility. Strangely enough all the info I read or see, apart from yours, tells me I need 0.5 instead of 0.2 or 0.3. Doctors saying anything less (than 0.5) won't penetrate deeply enough and it would be useless. (But you should use these 0.5 only once every 3wks or skin won't have time to heal). So now I'm confused since you say 0.2 DID help. I only have over the counter serums since nut new GP (I moved) refuses to describe vit a because my acne looks is almost gone, aswell as scarring (she forgets this costs me a fortune). Secondly: are the ones you can buy on Aliexpress okay too? They're much cheaper and I don't have much budget. Do these tools need to be of a certain material?

I don't think u need to do this every day....well, the .25mm is fine because it is just for absorbing product, but I use the .5 and I do 1 time a week for face and 2 times a week for lip area only because that is my issue! Please stress cleaning!!!! Soak in 90 proof alcohol for 15 min before and after(rinse well before using!) ..so dangerous if not super clean!!!! I am consistent and find results amazing! Going to the 1.0mm soon! The .5mm is painless too...but cleaning is imperative!

Hi Nadine was so happy to get home from a particularly long day of work and find you had a new video on one of my favorite subjects. I am a die hard derma rollr fan and do it on a rgular schedule for maximum results (not more than is safe of course) and unfortunately I do not have any photos but I use mine ( I have 3 and am very interested in the Glo Pro now!) for more preventative skincare than to rid my skin of any scars and or acne as I am fortunate and incredibly grateful to have not really ever had to deal with those unfortunate skin concerns. Looking forward to your upcoming video on Peptides, I am looking to up min and I know if anyone can introduce me to some incredible products I've maybe not heard of yet it will be you. Hope you're doing well. Peace and love xo

I love this video because I do Derma rolling myself for anti-aging and I use a 0.5, but my dermatologist said to never use retin A after dermarolling because Retin-A is not supposed to enter the skin that way. He said if you use Retin-A right after dermarolling then it could have the opposite effect that you're looking for and it would be permanent, so therefore, I Derma roll and then I just use some hyaluronic acid and after that sinks in which is quickly then I just put on a nice moisturizer.. Let me know if you're using Retin-A right afterwards. I would like to know your outcome. I understand this is an older video but I hope you still see it. Love your Channel

I think it is a nice dermaroller, but I couldn't see why this is any better than the ordinary manual ones - without the micro vibration or light. I just didn't think that the glopro is worth the price tag. The light I don't think does much, as it doesn't stay on the skin long enough etc. Curious to hear what you think.

I have already reintroduced acids/retin-a baack into my regimen and it's been fine w/ no irritation.

Thank you -- excellent content ...and entertaining. Humor is always appreciated and far too short in modern life, thank you for not making this too bloody a serious topic -- we are not discussing Hiroshima or Renewable Energy after all. The more I research, the more I am of the mind that micro-needling, in concert with time-based serum treatments, is a HUGE win for mirror lovers everywhere....immediately following treatment, Day 1-5, and then week 2-3. Thoughts on progressive repair and handling? On another topic. May I suggest some male candy for your viewers? Simply for momentary distraction? A little something-something to get the blood moving? Not a complaint, just a suggestion from a dedicated fan. You are amazing (as you know) and I could watch for days. However, an injection of a strong jawline, perfect teeth (and hair) with some bicep action would surely bump the viewer's attention span through fairly technical explanations and extensive video length. Perhaps a "muscle up" intermission to explain how these treatments may be adapted for a male viewership?

I love my dermaroller! I am unequivocally for anything that amplifies my skincare routine, which is why I'm all about exfoliation, dermaplaning (using a scalpel to remove layers of dead skin once a week), facials and using my 0.25mm dermaroller every night before I sleep, as well as using a 2.25mm dermastamp once a month on my deep scars. Yes, 2.25mm, yes, there is blood, yes it is gnarly, yes it is amazing. I'm definitely aggressive in my skincare, which is quite controversial and against the advice of others, but I swear, my skin has never been better in my life and I get compliments on it all the time. A heavy dose of retinols, acids, oils, niacinamide, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and intense skin treatments. I'm all about it!

Hi Nadine! I am very curious about the needle depth. I recently purchased the 0.5 one on Amazon and you are the first person that talks about this with a doctors recommendation. I am wondering if I should start with the 0.2 and then move up. Lots of questions on your channel today. I've heard that the 0.5 you should only use once a week because your face needs a recovery period to produce the collagen properties to show results and the results will start appearing after 3-6 months. Love the video! So informative.

Hello Nadine, What's your opinion about the 5-day-routine of microneedling (0.5 mm needles) from Swiss Clinic? I've been warned that dermarolling too often can have the opposite effect than the one we're looking for (enhancing the levels of collagen in our skin), but close to 50 I'm prepared to step up and do what it takes :). And while I'm at it I'll ask you if you think it's possible to combine microneedling with the Clinical 1 % retinol treatment from Paula's Choice? Big fan of yours.....have managed to gain lots of I sight and knowledge from your videos. I have done a lot of research on derma needling and recently purchased a Dr pen unit as I feel an up and down stamping motion is better than the rolling motion. However, there's one thing I just can't seem to find any info on.....and that's the nano needles cartridges. You can buy lots of different types of needle cartridges for derma pens but there's one cartridge that is said to be safe enough to use every day....and no this is called the nano needle cartridge. It seems to me to be alike a sheet of metal that has been pressed with loads of pyramid shapes in it. It is said to be gentle enough to use every day and the perfect way to introduce actives to your skin.....I can't see how it works and can't seem to get any info on it....anywhere. The cartridges are blue and are made specifically to fit the Dr pen devices. ....nadine can you please throw some light on this, pleeeeease? You seem to have access to specialists and info that standards channels cannot provide. Annie xxxx

Hello Aneela THANK YOU I am sorry but I have never seen this gadget as it's not big in the UK, but from what I understand it is adjustable, so you control thee depth - this article/site is great and explains it. dermapen.com/dermapen-dr-pen/ I really hope this helps. X

Nadine Baggott Thank you so much for replying. I have checked the link and it's quite an in depth article so will be taking time to read it thoroughly. I haven't come across many articles on actual 3rd gen derma pens......mostly derma rollers,so am interested to see this. I aka wanted to thank you on the info you provided with regards to depth of the needles. I had read several sources that stated anything below a 0.5mm needle was not going to achieve much....especially no collagen production, so I was interested to hear that a .2 or .25 needle would be just as beneficial. You are right about the depth of the needles being easily controlled when using a derma pen. ....which is one of the main reasons to purchase....It means I can go shallow around eyes and nose and deeper on forehead and naso labial lines. Also....replaceable cartridges means less risk of infection etc. Thanks once again for replying and forwarding the info

Dr Jason Emer, dermatologist in LA, says you're able, and he and his patients use a 2. weekly or biweekly. He also has a RU-vid channel and if you read down in the comment section, he gives lots of feed back.

I have a 0.50 mm dermaroller and I am addicted to it. I would use it every day but I have heard that you are only supposed to use that depth once every two weeks. As it is, I still dermaroll my entire face once a week, but do my lips every day to get them to plump up. The depth of the needle is the most important for collagen stimulation but any depth will improve product absorption. My main question is whether it is beneficial to use every day or not.

@jspohl
@jspohl 7 лет назад
Lauren Harger I think it depends on your skin and and how intensive your treatments are. I think every second day is recommended so your skin has time to heal. The nice thing is it increases collagen production for 40 days after a treatment so you are still getting benefits everyday. I love how what it has done for my skin but find it takes me a little longer and I do fewer treatments.

Jennifer Pohl-Johnston what results have you seen?what size do you use?
@annoyed56
@annoyed56 7 лет назад
I think it depends on your needle length. You can actually permanently damage your skin if you use a longer needle size that penetrates down to the dermis too often. I use a 0.75 and 1.0 and my instructions say not to do it more than once every 4-6 weeks.

Hi Nadine, do you think long term use of a 0,5mm dermaroller with a local anesthetic (Emla cream) could be effective for the improvement of stretch marks? Perhaps combined with Retin A as well? Do you think it would be worth a try? 🤔

Hi there, great video. You do it with such ease! I do dermarollering and use 0.05mm. I really like the feeling of it but I get conflicting advice on how long to wait in between treatments. I typically put a homemade hyaluronic acid on my skin after and follow with a night cream. I have a 1mm roller that I'm going to try. I'll let you know how that feels. Thanks again. I really enjoyed your post. Cheers, Nancy

Hi @Neeti yes it does bleed, not all over mostly chin and forehead and not a lot. Blood is good though, it's a sort of an antibiotic and fights infection. Like a vampire facial.You def need numbing. I've done it without and it does hurt a bit.

karen warren I used on just my lips and they were bigger. Eventually I developed a small bump in the middle of my lower lip. I stopped rolling and in a month or so it was gone. If I had to guess I'd say it was a cluster of scar tissue so now I'm weary of going back to rolling my lips.

Hi Nadine, you've stated that you shouldn't use Retin A after micro needling as acids are meant to stay on the surface of the skin. I use Retin A at night. So if I derma roll does this mean that I have to give up using Retin A? Confused.

Interesting! Love your channel. Have you heard of ultra sound to get your products to go deeper into the skin? I know you use anti oxidants like Vit C. I've read they are highly unstable when applied topically to the skin. What is your take on this? I use Vit C cream during the day and my skin care products have vitamin C in them. I'm wondering if I'm wasting my money on products that are not really working. Thank you!

Does the size of the needle determine how many times per week it should be used? I've seen that some people use a .5 once a week. The question then becomes whether results occur faster with more frequent, but smaller, wounds, or faster with less frequent but larger penetration?

I just bought the Glowpro with the lip edition. I tried it just before going to bed and after a minute of it I have to say it’s painful and I didn’t even press down. Right now my face feels like I’m had a professional needling. No blood like the ones done by a dermatologist office. However, my skin feels raw right now....

Thanks for doing this video Nadine, we'd messaged before about dermarollering so I was really keen to see your thoughts! I had 1 session of laser initially for hyperpigmentation and although this did break it up a bit, I think dermarollering (0.5mm) and serums in the pm (alpha arbutin, vit c, retinol) have worked best in the long term plus of course sun protection! I did react badly once to the roller + retinol 1% straight after and had very, very angry skin for a week - lesson learnt😳!!! ...is there a cleaning solution you could recommend as well? Love your videos and advice as always! x

I appreciate your videos very much. My concern is that we don't actually go in 0.1 mm. The force you put on the roller gets distributed across all the needles in contact with your skin so per needle it is not that high. That would mean that your needles for the 0.2 mm go in half way. If the density of needles is less like for some brands it becomes more painful... not saying you're wrong I am just a little doubtful :-) the higher the needle length the smaller the density of needles is... at least on Amazon. Alright. I am done being a naysayer lol
